Answer: Yes I think it would but it will need to be a decent sized blue gill. You could also use a half worm for lesser sized fish. 14 to 16 inch leader on a sliding sinker so it floats off the bottom...blue gill will eat about anything!

How do you rig these? What size hook?

Answer: 8-10 worm hooks depending on how finicky the fish are where your fishing. I like to hook in the center with the entire hook hidden except for the very end of the hook barely sticking out. I use a sliding weight with a 1-2 foot 4 lb leader (depending on the water depth). I fish with these in Southern California and is my go to for my soaker pole while I throw jigs and lures with my second pole. I have caught lots of trout with these but I have also caught catfish and carp with them as well. Hope this helps.

Answer: You take a #8 baithook and thread it from the top of worm so the hook eventually will be sticking out of the middle of worm.

Probably a silly question but could these be used in a garden?

Answer: These absolutely could be used in gardens. They wouldn't accomplish anything, other than being a delightful decorating accent. Perhaps artificial birds would find these artificial worms to be tasty and nutritious. I strongly recommend that the questioner buy several dozen and put them in the garden!

The scent is perfect. They are 1/2" to long for the trout. I had to pinch off a third before
they were attractive to the trout. When using 4 pound test and a size 10 hook it"s always nice to increase the odds.
Hope the Manufacturer might be watching. Can you help help the consumer out

We used these in the Sierras catching trout this summer. The fish were small so we cut these in half. Using a small trout hook we were catching fish left and right.

These are pretty great. As in, trout seem to enjoy them. I tested them in the Nacimiento River of Big Sur after a recent trout plant. The most relevant, and utterly vital point was this. They definitely get a fishes attention, but they are so fat that if you are using a trout sized hook, the hook will no way ever come into contact with the ability to contact it's mouth. Just way too much mass, and an inadvertent spit out. These are probably for less finicky fish like Bass, Crappie. Something with a big mouth that swallows something whole instead of picking at it.

Caught a metric butt ton of rainbow trout with these. Very pleased with them. The juice was also good for other platic baits.

The bait is too soft. Fish easily pull it off the hook or it scrapes off on rocks or weeds. It attracts fish but they take it easier than other lures or live bait. I wont buy this again.

I purchased these pinched crawlers in order to target larger panfish, but I haven't caught any yet because my bait keeps getting stolen... BY BASS! I really don't mind; it's a lot of fun to reel in a 1+ pounder on an ultralight rig with 2lb test line on it. Maybe I need to cut these down in half lengthwise or something :)

Yakitykayak : Great bait, but cap of bottle leaks

Works great to catch finicky trout. It does float above the weeds and rocks, just make sure your leader is long enough for conditions, and hook/line is not too heavy to weigh down the bait. The liquid the bait is packed in is very strong-smelling, which is good for attracting trout. However, the cap on the plastic bottle does not seal properly and will leak the smelly liquid wherever and whenever you store it. I would give the bait itself highest marks, but downgraded to 4 stars because of the leakage issue. Ypu may want to repack the bait and liquid in another leak-proof container.

Hands down! Thee best trout bait I've used the past 3 years. Nothing but large trout. 15-18 in. Consistently. When nobody is catching. I am. Wish they wasn't so hard to find the last couple years. Brown only. No more chartreuse, yellow, or pink. Why???

Caught some solid trout with this in a stocked lake. Used a slip bobber then a split shot at hook so it didn't float. I cut the worms a bit though. Maybe used about 3/4 the worm and placed on a #8 hook.
