Q:
Best lures for hybrids trolling. Lake. Oklahoma ???
Answer: Never trolled for hybrids, but the multi-species patterns that I use and are pretty universallay effective are: white and/or silver with or without baitfish pattern, bright colors like yellowish chartreuse or bubblegum/hot-pink, olive/bluegill green or green frog pattern, and flat solid black with either silver or solid black blades. Another piece of advice: when the fish aren't on the bite go with white, but if the fish are on the attack go with black. Of course, that varies from place to place, day to day, so!
Answer: on west point lake we like the ones thats green yellow and orange they are the best here i ga
Answer: This is a great lure but you must understand that this lure sinks when retrieving. It can catch bottom easily and be lost. I am in CT and have got nice trout with this lure, but prefer my Kastmaster.
Q:
What size recommended for bluegill?
Answer: 1/32 to 1/24 oz would be the best results if you need more weight without chancing the size of luer us 1/16oz-1/8 oz bullet slip sinker to keep better contact wth line to luer it will actually make it more sensitive that way I have found with little extra weight, don't use split shot you will have better feeling with the sliding bullet sinkers...
Answer: For bluegill,I like to use 1/32oz(smallest),1/24,1/16,1/8oz.they will hit on larger also
Answer: I have caught plenty on 1/4 oz if you fish them right but smaller would likely be more forgiving
Q:
why so much 1.99 at walmart
Answer: Walmart probably buys 2-300 at a time.
Q:
Can you use snap swivels with these?
Answer: Absolutely! Good luck...
Answer: Yes you can
Answer: Yes, but I don't use them.
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes you can
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes, I do all the time.
Q:
How long I the one ounce?
Answer: Just about 4&7/8ths inches long
Answer: Around 3.0" length
Q:
Best size for large mouth bass?
Answer: Any size will catch large mouth bass. Of course the smaller sizes will likely catch smaller bass. Bass are quite voracious and sometimes a small one will hit a really large lure. The heavier rooster tails will sink faster, but also cast further.
Answer: 1/8th to 1/4...I would buy a few different sizes. They will run at different depths depending on your line size. Remember, fish see size, not weight. Try also a Mepps #2 black fury...deadly on smallmouth.
Answer: that's a bit of a vague question, I've had several kinds of bass hit many different sizes, I've had 6" bass hook up on 3/8th oz roostertails and fat ass 6# bass landed on 1/16th oz roostertails, it really justs really really depends on the situation... really.
Answer: 1/4 ounce
Answer: one ounce
Q:
Which one is good for crappie and for white bass?
Answer: I have great luck with chartreuse, fire tiger or metallic silver for crappie & white bass! Those are actually great colors for largemouth too!
Answer: this will work for both. Also, white bass like blade baits such as "Cicada". Crappies also like live fathead minnows.
Q:
Best size for silvers and pike?
Answer: 1/8 oz shallow water. 1/4 oz 8-12’ water
Answer: I would not use anything smaller than 3/4oz, but prefer a 1oz lure.
Answer: Many 1-4
Answer: 1oz
Q:
Which color/size combination is available for $1? I've been looking through all of the combinations and can't find any that cost less than $2.50
Answer: None r
Q:
What size do you recommend for clear alpine trout lakes?
Answer: 1-4oz
Answer: ⅛oz is a good overall cross-species size, panfish & bass will hit it besides rainbows, brookies, and brownies. If you're dealing with just bigger lake trout then you can go up to ¼oz, but ⅛oz is best overall. Get the gold blade, chrome body, & chartreuse tail one if you can, I have it in ⅛th & 1/16th and it's the best one out of all the color patterns I own!
Answer: I can't say exactly but I use bigger lures for farther casting and deeper fishing.
Answer: 1/4 oz
Q:
What size and color do you reccomend for largemouth bass in dark Everglades water?
Answer: I use this lure in many sizes but for Largemouth Bass I would go with 1/2 ounce. I use this lure for multiple species. I try to match the colors to natural baits they would be feeding on. White works best for most applications. The chrome, ones with green, or blue on them and the rainbow and brown trout version work well also. I pull these lake fishing for stripers and trout in 1 ounce and the Husky tail version ( 6 1/2 inches ).
Answer: 1/8 oz might be the right size....1 1/2 to 2 oz long.
Answer: try to match the prey color first. Light to dark might be white, grey, derk grey, brown dark brown, black. sometimes, bright colors work well....watermelon, orange, yellow. itsof a toss up.. buy a few. good luck.
Answer: 1/4 oz. I'd start with yellow and keep experimenting until I found what works. White with red tip, chartreuse and black are performers in most conditions
Q:
What size would be best for crappie and perch?
Answer: I use both 1/8 & 1/16 for crappie
Answer: 1/8 th
Answer: 1/8 oz
Q:
Is it black or white
Answer: It is redish, silver. and black.
Q:
How many come when you place an order? They seem expensive for only 1...
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Just 1. A price depends on a size.
Answer: Only one bait is sent. The individual price varies, it seems, according to the weight of the bait. I purchased a 1/4 oz. The lighter ones cost more.
Answer: Only one-they are expensive, but well made and they do catch fish
Answer: I get Rooster tails at Walmart for around $3 here in northeast PA. I nearly fainted when I just found these prices! Shop around and you'll save a lot or be able to buy more of the patterns that work for you. Good luck.
Answer: Yes, one per pack unless you're looking at a set of six or something like that. But you're looking at one per pack.
Answer: one
Q:
How many come in each pack?
Answer: one per pack -
Answer: Just one
Answer: The ones I got had two
Q:
How many are there?
Answer: One per Get Fire Tiger with any color blade
Answer: 1 each
Answer: Hi... There were one per package...
Answer: That's the price for one each.
Q:
I am planning to go trout fishing on yosemite national park, for the rivers and lakes which size and colors are recommended?
Answer: I would use the rainbow trout color and tequila sunrise color both 1/4 ounce size. The yellow may be effective also.
Q:
Why so expensive,cheaper at walmart
Answer: Walmart probably buys 2-3000 at a time.
Q:
How many are in the 14 lb package?
Answer: Mine came Just one :-)
Q:
do wire body eventually break
Answer: never happened after 40 some years ! i also replaced the trebble hooks because there are streams that don't allow them or barbed hooks. just buy appropriate size clevices found in most fishing catalogs..good luck..fnt
Answer: after several years maybe.
Q:
Can you use braided line with these?
Answer: Yes work better with braid
Answer: Depends on the fish your after really but yes you can
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
How many come in each order? Or I am I getting one Rooster Tail for $9.31 plus shipping?
Answer: you have to specify how many of each kind (weight and color and quantity) each time you order. i do not beleive they are 9.31 each. they do not work well with salmon or if you are fishing deeper than 2 feet
Answer: you get one . They are very well made and function great, but for 9.31 you should be getting the biggest one made. I am not sure if that price is for the smaller ones. But Mine was almost the size of a stapler. AS I wanted one to reach depths of 50 + feet
Answer: They are priced individually. To cut your shipping cost down, you can sometimes find a dealer selling the rooster tails in a small pack or you can just make sure your buying all of them from the same dealer.
Answer: Your only getting one, it's pricey
Answer: Usually one unless it says multi pack
Q:
If I hook this up to a baby nightcrawler what color should I buy to catch rainbow trouts?
Answer: I like to use the brown trout pattern spinners. No bait on the hook. Cast and reel it in.. check YouTube
Answer: If you are using live bait a rooster tail is NOT the way to go. They are a stand alone lure, no trailer needed. 1/8 once or less is best for trout. Various colors will work but for best results I use colors that mirror natural bait colors, silvers, white, chrome, blues. If you intend to use live bait go with red worms instead of crawlers ( think small ) and buy worm rigs or make your own. Eagle claw makes small worm rigs like you need. I hope this helps you.
Q:
Wait a minute.... is this single rooster tail really $11.87? should this read $1.87? i can get them way way cheaper at any tackle shop.
Q:
Going fishing in wyoming/utah/colorado for trout? what’s the best size and color?
Answer: I would go with natural colors, white/grey/black/brown....perhaps one brightly colored like rainbow.
Answer: Depends on what kind of trout. For rainbows I use 1/4oz on 8lb test. For brown trout either 1/8oz or 1/6oz on 6lb test.
Answer: Varies based on light and water conditions. Generally, if you stick to "bright day, bright color," you'll do fine. I'm a fan of yellow with silver blade anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 oz. That seems to do pretty well across a broad variety of conditions. If you're in water that's home to brown trout, they also make one that mimics small brownies really well.
Q:
For those that recieved the wrong lure, was your order corrected?
Q:
What color should I but
Answer: It really depends on what species you're trying to catch and the water conditions. If you just want general purpose colors, I've found that Chartreuse, White and Black have been the best for me. Chartreuse is probably one of the best overall lure colors for general purpose use.
Q:
What color blade do you sell these black with? i only want silver blades for trout
Answer: hey !
Q:
Any success in salt water?
Answer: I don't see why not as long as you take steps to quickly dunk & wash in fresh water, dry off, and store it in one of those tackle trays that have rust guard protectors in them whenever you change out patterns or lures, so. It'd definitely be a more complicated setup if you're wade-fishing than bank/boat fishing.
Answer: Haven’t tried in saltwater,I mostly use them for MUSKYS
Q:
Why is this twice as expensive as in stores?
Answer: Only a superior being than I would know.
Q:
Is heavier weight rooster tail has a longer body length?
Answer: Yes, it's a lot larger than a "normal" rooster tail. Definitely for larger fish. I'm at work, or I would measure it for you, but the heavier the rooster tail, the larger it will be.
Answer: Yes
Q:
which one do I use?
Answer: Fire Tiger with any color blade
Answer: I use the 1/8th Pumpkin Seed and Brown Trout colors. Worked on Rainbow, Brown and tons of Brook trout.
Q:
Which ones would be good for trout and bass? A lot to choose from.
Answer: the best one is orange, yellow and green they will bite them even when they are not biting i know bass love them now trout we do not have them in west point lake
Answer: I would personally go with something bright and flashy. And honestly, plain old yellow corn works the best for trout.
Answer: I've always had good success with the natural insect colors brown, yellow, black and then try some other colors .
Answer: For smaller streams I like the 1/16 to 1/8 ounce single hook on ultralight rig.
Q:
Do any of these have the prop blade?
Answer: I believe so...you can review their web sight.
Answer: The ones I ordered did not but that did not stop them from attracting the small mouth bass at the lake I was at in Canada!
Answer: No. But it slayed the trout in Northern California
Answer: No they dont
Q:
IS this s single hook?
Answer: It is one single treble hook on the end of the spinner bait.
Answer: No it is a treble hook.
Answer: It has one hook, but it is a treble hook.
Answer: It has one treble hook so it is one hook with three tips.
Answer: No treble
Answer: TRIPLE
Q:
How long are 1/8oz
Answer: The entire length of the lure is just slightly more than 2 1/2”. The weighted portion of the lure is 1/2”.
Answer: Flat with the spinner blade in about 1 and half inch, but with the blade laying straight out 2 inches.
Answer: right about 2¼" from loop tip to end of the treble hook
Q:
What color is the hammered rainbow, in the picture it's black and yellow but when i put it to "save for later" it's the color of a rainbow trout?
Answer: I only got the lime one on Amazon and it was broken. But I will tell you I have had no luck with them for trout. A simple piece of corn on a size 10 hook filled my catch limit in 25 min. Just sayin
Answer: The color in the drop down color list probably just changed after you saved it. Pick the color that you desire from the drop down list when you order. There are several dozen color options to choose from.
Answer: Amazon does that sometimes, so it more than likely is hammered rainbow and not some yellow bee pattern.
Answer: Mine came rainbow trout
Q:
Do the dimensions vary with the weight or the heavy and light ones have the same size?
Answer: the heavier the weight the bigger and heavier the body and the spinner.
Answer: THe lighter roosters are def smaller, Crappie, bluegill etc,, THe largest they have a use for trolling depths to 50 -75 ft deep for rock fish. Weight and size are different. . .
Answer: the light ones are smaller. if the density of the product was different then it would be a different product.
Q:
What size should I get for blugiil?
Answer: I'd say the 1/16 & 1/24 oz sizes to catch most sizes of bluegill, just add a splitshot or two up the line as needed to get distance casting. The 1/8 oz size is still small too at just 2 inches long with a #8 treble hook but casts way easier by itself on 4-6# line, it'll be little harder for the smaller gills to get hooked on it so if you want to weed them out then 1/8 oz your bet. Keep an eye out for the chrome yellowtail version whenever some store here has one to sell, it's hands down my favorite rooster tail outcatching all the other color patterns I own.
Answer: 1/32 to 1/16 oz.
Answer: 1/24 th oz
Answer: sixteenth oz. .... smaller the better
Q:
What weight (onces ) should I buy for trout fishing.
Answer: I use 1/32.
Q:
Hi what size for small lakes .
Answer: Varies, 1/6th to 1/2oz works depending on conditions and how you're fishing them, and try to stick to more natural patterns first then going to crazy colors to see if they'll bite then.
Answer: It really depends on what your fishing for.I don't think you can go wrong with 1/2 oz
Answer: 1/2 to 3/4 oz should easily work
Q:
Size for crappie?
Answer: I'd say no more than 1/8th down to 1/32nd, but crappie will hit flat black 1/64th trout magnets (an entirely different kind of bait I admit) so even drop-shotting certain flies like muddlers & marches could get it done. basically, it's not just about the size but the pattern as well, so! I'm drunk but the same kind of rules apply to crappie like bass= bigger would be louder for the fish to home in on in dirtier waters, natural patterns first then wacky colors, etc.
Answer: I like the 1/8 oz for crappie.
Answer: 1/8 ounce
Answer: Yes
Q:
your ruster tails are too pricey
Answer: Yes
Q:
is it really 14 bucks for one lure? i can buy these exact spinners at walmart for under 3 dollars
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes it only comes with one lure... when I bought it, the price was lot cheaper
Answer: That’s the current price. Supply and demand. Everyone is gone fishing so the price is inflated. It will go back down.
Q:
I don't know what color to pick. I am going fishing at Kern River. Mostly trout and bass. Can anybody with experience help me to pick the color. Thank
Answer: Me and my family use the flame coach dog and yellow coach dog, but from what I understand they've been discontinued. I have never used anything else do to the high success with these two.
Q:
good in saltwater? for what types of fish and which size is best?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Wich size do you recommend for trout?
Answer: 1/16 and 1/8th size seems to be the best for me.
Answer: go smaller than you think. Even big trout will eat something small if the opportunity presents itself. It really just depends on what/where you're fishing. Sometimes the local bait shop can have better recommendations because they know the body of water better then anyone. Hope this helps.
Answer: 1/8 or 1/16
Answer: I always use the 1/8 Oz, unless I'm fishing smaller streams then I'll use smaller.
Answer: 1/8 oz best for me
Answer: 1/4
Q:
are you saying they are $9 each, like for 1 lure?
Answer: No

Ordered twice because my daughter lost it first time out, but she loves this lure!

The lures are fine. The pictures are NOT. Be sure you know exactly what color you want or you will wind up with something totally different. Order by the description and not by the picture.

These work. Cast slightly upstream as close to the stream bank and as you reel back make a slight pause to let it catch the main flow and be ready for a strike.

Amazon Customer 19 : Not as pictured
My only complaint is the pictures of the colors, the skunk picture is orange, green, and yellow, and clearly not the actual colors. I let my kids pick by the pictures so they were disappointed to find an actual skunk and not like the picture...
KDubz : its tiny!
has good action but I am yet to catch anything
RM in NH : I tried and true lure for multiple types of fish
I got this rooster tail at a good price and it works well for perch, bass, pickerel, blue gills and just about any fish that sees it. It is my go to lure.

No issues, catches Bass when they are hunting shad.
Roberto B. : This tiny spinner catches fish
This tiny little 1/24oz spinner is the perfect lure when fishing a creek. I use these as a search bait when I’m moving around a creek or going across spillways, and the fish just go crazy for it. So far I’ve caught massive bluegills on it, as well as creek bass and little pickerels. This will be a killer for trout as the cooler temps come around. The hooks are sharp, but tiny so do be careful when you’re handling it with pliers so they don’t bend. Whether you’re chasing trout or just wanting a bite on the creek, this is a must in your tackle box.

I feel like everybody's old man has a rooster tail in their tackle box. I know my dad did and now my son's dad does. I'm not sure what took me so long to buy one of these but I will definitely be buying more color combinations because it does catch fish.
Odalys : Exacto!
Perfecto!
Geeks Fish Too : The best river fishing bait, hands down, anywhere.
I got this lure to catch Guadalupe Bass here in Texas. This is simply the best lure to catch these indigenous bass. This lure also works on any lake where there are shad, especially depending on the season, time of day, etc.
Excellent lure with no complaints! Get you one!

erin rice : Nice looking lure
Haven’t caught anything on it yet, but it looks awesome going through the water
Kindle Customer : I thought it was a 3-pack
Recieved only 1 Roostertail for more than $10, which is a rip-off.
sgt509 : Blade spin
This lure catches lots of fish "IF" you can get the blade to spin. I have caught several different species of fish on this lure and it seems to catch more fish than other spinners. But there seems to be a design flaw that about 30% of the time, the blade doesn't spin.
Kris T : The best spinner made
Unlike their competitors, Rooster Tails have fantastic action at slower retrieval rates. When it comes to spinners, the slower, the better. The competition requires much faster retrieval to maintain proper action. You just can't beat this spinner. Hands down, the best you can get at this price. Their only competition is Mepps (amazing quality), but at a premium price. Rooster Tails are the absolute best bang for the buck.
satish : Best for bass fishing
I used this bait to catch bass and I caught many bass fish using this. I recommend this product .

Great for catching bass
famjr : Bought this 1/8th oz version to match the 1/16th oz cross-species champ I have
Chrome yellowtail does really great with North Branch Susquehanna smallies and the local pike'n'pickerel besides all the other panfish and shiner/fallfish, so I wanted a more heftier version for more distance and a larger presentation. 4 stars because some of the roostertail was pressed/melded between the flat plastic of the blister cell pack and the paper card back but I was able to get all of the roostertail's strands out of it, and because the chrome on the lure body seems somewhat thin and not as uniformly smooth as the chrome on my 1/16th oz version of this lure (things that were obviously out of FishAndSave.com's control). The chrome-gold-chartreuse combination really makes this a cross-species champ. Getting the lure less than 48 hours after I ordered it is pretty great too! (pics are of the 1/16th oz version last summer & fall, will edit and post new pics if I catch anything when I use it tomorrow.) If a 1/4th oz version of the chrome yellowtail was offered, I would have totally bought that too.

Fun to cast and reel, just waiting for my first catch with thus beauty.
R. Wynieski : Stick to the original
Rooster tail spinners are a must just like the original spoon lures. You can’t go wrong with the name brand, pass on the cheap knock offs.

Michael robling : Best ever
I have used them for years great lute
Andrew Phillips : Great for trout in the Chattahoochee River
This I my go-to lure for the Chattahoochee River and many of the streams/Rivers of North GA. Even on slow days, I've never struck out.
