What is the size of this marinater?

Answer: It's a decent size but I am very disappointed with it. In fact it is no longer in use. After using it probably 10 times one of the handles broke off and then we noticed cracking in the lid at the center where you use the plunger to take out the air. I had a different brand which I can no longer find for 5 years before it wore out. Very disappointed in this item as for the price of it you would expect better quality! Shop around. There has to be a better one out there.

Answer: It is a smaller size than what I had before but we are only a family of 2. It is about 6"x6"x3" high. The one I had before was Vacu Vin marinator and it is also available thru Amazon. I hope this helps you and you find the right one for yourself.

Answer: I don't recall now. I must have drawn more vacuum than was necessary and the container imploded. Broke into many sharp pieces of plastic. Scared the hell out of me but was luckily uninjured.

This product does not seem to be able to build up enough pressure to reach instant marination. When I removed it from the refrigerator there was absolutely no remaining pressure. I have used it a total of 3 times and the results were always the same. This is not a great product.

Just add the meat and marinade and pump to vacuum seal. The meat comes out nicely seasoned and ready to cook.

D to the G : Beware BPA risk - Recycling #7 -- Apparently Polycarbonate

The plastic recycling code used for this marinator is #7. #7 is a catch-all category that lots of different plastic resins are lumped into. My opinion is that this particular plastic IS polycarbonate. I am familiar with polycarbonate. Where food products are concerned, the recycling symbol "7" most often indicates a polycarbonate plastic-containing BPA.

***It is inexcusable to create a food container using a known hormone-disrupting chemical in this age.*** Many companies have eliminated use of BPA-containing plastics for food use. Jim Beam? What's the deal? You'd put your name on something known to affect a person's health?

I am disappointed. This marinade box is going in the recycling bin. I have to say, being in the wine/spirits industry ought to make you a lot more savvy about food and drink safety. This gives me pause about Jim Beam as a whole.

Does this work, YES! I got one as a gift about 5 years ago and after using it found it worked well. In about 1/2 the time you can not only add a nice flavor to your meet of choice but its also works well to pull in liquid so its juicy and tender. But, the first one soon had the tabs the hold the lid locks on break off. I thought it was something I did or putting it in the dishwasher. So I bough a 2nd one and after using it 4 times I just pull it out of the cupboard and found once again the tabs that hold the lid locks in place just falling off.
