The Rebel big hopper is a big bite for summer and Fall bass, trout and other gamefish. The most realistic Grasshopper crankbait you can find, the big hopper is a tremendous lure when twitched on top, but for trout anglers, a straight medium retrieve proves effective in tailrace or lakes. Questions about Rebel Lures Crickhopper Cricket/Grasshopper Crankbait Fishing Lure, 1 1/2 Inch, 1/4 Ounce
Q:
Are these good for bass fishin and how heavy is it
Answer: I'd consider these pretty small for bass, though you could easily get hooked up with one. A sizable bass would swallow these pretty easily. They are more suited to mid-sized panfish/sunfish or juvenile bass and crappie. They're a lot of fun, but the two trebles are pretty small -- the same size as the trebles on the "bitsy minnow" I believe. I'm not sure the weight, but they are quite light. You are limited to throwing them with a spinning reel. A baitcaster couldn't do anything with these.
Answer: I use these for crappie and small mouth bass and have had good luck with them....there are kinda light in weight but I use them from a boat so I do not have to cast as far
Answer: I like how Amazon screws me and won't let me return a product and then asks me to help another customer with that exact same product. What a great business model! Don't buy these as the colour and detailing were garbage. Go to your local supplier for fishing gear.
Q:
Hi, What is the length of this lure?
Answer: 1.5" long, but I recall seeing larger 3" versions also available.
Answer: 1.5 inches and its very very light
Q:
what is the lenth of the lure without the hooks?
Answer: lenth without the hooks is 55 mm
Answer: 1.5 ''
Q:
what size are the treble hooks?
Q:
Do you add weight to the line for this lure?
Answer: Lure fishing does not require the use of weights. You can cast it as it is and reel it back so that the lure moves in the water with a swimming motion that will attract bass
Answer: yes and no. it semi floats . but add just to much and it will sink . use the smallest weight possible if u do deside to. but it will snag easy. so we just let it do its thing and has caught us some nice fish
Answer: I didn't, it has good movement too.
Answer: no, not necessery
Q:
Which fishing line would be good for fishing bass on the bighopper 1/4oz?
Answer: I would recommend anything under 10lb line. I usually use 8-10
Answer: Fluorocarbon leader and any line.
Answer: 6# to 12#
Answer: 6lb mono
Q:
Where can we find the larger crikhoppers
Q:
What is the recommended line for the rebel bighopper 1/4oz?
Answer: 8-10 lb line
Answer: Hello,
Q:
is that 1.75 inches with or with out the hooks? how long is just the body?
Answer: from end to tip of the head it measures 1 7/8". this does not include the bill - just the lure.
Answer: Without
Q:
I want color "brown cricket" @ $4.83, how do I order it???
Answer: I would order the yellow one!!
Q:
Does it rattle?
Answer: My Crickhoppers rattle like there’s a bead inside. All of my Rebel hardbody lures rattle, and Rebel Pop-R is the loudest. Great baits all.
Answer: no rattle
Answer: Yes it does, it woks greatly!
Q:
What Lb test line is good for this? Is this considered ultralight?
Q:
would this be ok for small perch
Answer: Yes I have caught a wide size range of fish on this lure. From Bluegill that are barely bigger than the lure to huge Bass. so yes you would be able to do perch and any other small fish.
Answer: no its a bit big for pan fish. weve got trout and bass on it. the treble hook on it seems like a size 10. maybe if u change hook size to like maybe 14 or 16then its a possibility. but as is id say no
Q:
these seem pretty light, any tips/tricks to cast as far as possible?
Answer: I have been used fluorocarbon line for 12 pounds has been pretty good if you use for 10 or 8 pounds you will be able to trow farest.
Answer: I have used these lures for years. They have caught trout, bass and pan fish. To get the best distance, use an ultra light rod and reel with 4lb test line. You can experiment with a bobber which will give extra distance or use a small split shot above the lure.
Answer: I use a split shot sinker, I put it on my line about 6 to 10 inches from the grasshopper.
Q:
Bring back the rebel wetfrog lures the light brown ones
Q:
how long are these lures 1.5 or 1.75 inches?
Answer: i wanna say 1.75 with the plastic in front.
Answer: 1.5"
Q:
it says you can get it in a gigger size? where do you go it get them?

Cloggedart : quality looks fine but has not caught a fish yet
Well, quality looks fine but has not caught a fish yet. I totally acknowledge that this could be my own doing but hey...
luke : Yes it works. Use a palomar knot or live with regret.
With a small split shot and just this cricket I can get about 25-30 ft on a 6lb line. It is going to stay damn near the surface, go figure. Used her to match the overcast color the morning I was fishing, landed a small mouth bass (photo is of the next day) on a "dead" lake i live near within an hour of casting at various spots. Been going there for months, first thing I have caught. 5/5, just be smart using it like any other lure.

It works for smallmouth bass in mountain rivers.
Goose Creek Gang : best damn river lure
i fish rivers in southwestern virginia on a regular basis. if you want to catch shear numbers, then this is your lure. i use the brown/gold color most, but have equal success on black, green and yellow. you will catch a few nice size fish, but most are in the 6-10 inch range. just used this lure last weekend on the New River and caught 40-50 Red Eye (Rock Bass) and Smallies, including a 16 inch smallmouth. just can't say enough about the lure, throw it out near some trees or logs and crank it steady back in. you can even twitch it on the top and entice a bite. buy several and get to fishin'!
brenda turner : It works!
Great for catching trout.
Janxter : you will never have more fun catching pan fish
you will never have more fun catching pan fish. I love to see them come up and hit it. sometimes they miss, but even that is fun to watch. Better have some hemostats or needle nose plier though because these little treble hooks are sometimes hard to get out. They bend easy too, but it's worth it because these are loads of fun
Cloggedart : quality looks fine but has not caught a fish yet

billy rice : Five Stars
Catches lots of fish. Much more of a crankbait than a topwater. Hooks are very small.
Rip Torn : The best lure for small to medium ponds and/or fishing near the bank.
You can catch ANYTHING with these lures. And here's what I've caught, and how.
1) Bass - Cast as far as you can. Let it sit there a few moments. Take out most (but not all) of the slack. Whip your rod to the side one time. This causes the crickhopper to do a quick jerk. Wait a few more moments. Whip it again. If you don't have the sucker yet, it's time to up the ante. Keeping your rod almost straight up, slowly reel in until your line that's landed on the water is now out of the water. At this point, your crickhopper will be doing an irresistible waddle on the surface. It takes a little bit of practice, but you want to reel it as fast as you can without making it dive, but not too slow, or you won't get that enticing ripple behind it. The black color of this particular model is great for clear days with clear water. It becomes a black-on-blue sky target for those bass.
2) Perch / Crappie / etc - Cast it far. Reel it so that it dives, but stop every now and then and let it surface. You'll get one of those suckers real quick.
3) Bullfrogs - Hey, I said ANYTHING, didn't I? Find you a bull frog on the bank. Cast this crickhopper onto the bank a little ways away. Reel in the slack and make the crickhopper jitter. With the fish, you can catch and release. Those frogs go after this, and the only way you'd be able to let them go is if you cut their tongues. The treble hooks mess them up good. I did it a few time by accident casting near the bank and getting caught on a root. Felt terrible everytime.
Hannah : Five Stars

WVHomegirl : Top water lure
Love this!! This floats on top ...
Randy C. : looks cool but it didn't work for me
I have tried in a couple of different water and weather conditions and have never caught anything with it. The detail on it is great though and the treble hooks are very sharp
Penny DeGeorge : Fish love this
Great lure
MAX : Excellent
Works surprisingly well. We're impressed and very pleased.
Kmuda : This is one of my absolute favorite "go-to" lures
This is one of my absolute favorite "go-to" lures, especially when fishing the rivers and streams of the Ozark Mountains. It's like crack to smallmouth. Cast into the rapids, let it float down, start a slow retrieve, and be ready for the hit. I've stood (or boulder set) in one spot and caught 30+ smallmouth, almost back to back, in this fashion. In the River Valley lakes, catches largemouth, but more often, Bluegill and Sunfish. I've caught monster sized green sunfish with this thing. I own all color combinations but tend to have the most success with the Fire Tiger.
MAX : Excellent
Works surprisingly well. We're impressed and very pleased.
