Questions about Lucky Craft Fishing Lure CIF Flash Minnow 110 California Inshore Fishing
Q:
is good for beacg fishing in florida from the coast?
Answer: This lure would be perfect for the shallow beach waters in Florida. We have had great success with them here on the Central Coast of California, not to mention all the way down to San Diego.
Answer: Not sure about FLORIDA since I’ve never fished there but definitely works in Cali . Excellent surf fishing lure by using Braid and salmon Rod
Answer: Absolutely, I use them here in California for halibut, casting out from the shore. Its incredible the various types of fish I've caught with these. Once you get the retrieval speed down they really look like a swimming bait fish. I"m sure you would be able to nail fish in Florida with the 110FM just pick a color that resembles the local bait fish in the area you are fishing.
Answer: I have used it for surf perch and stripers. I am in the west coast.
Answer: Its a great lure for trevalli, perch, striper bass all around lure used it in California and the Indian Ocean just not florida
Answer: Not sure man but have it a try, you never know what you might catch.
Q:
Does this come with hooks on it? in the photo some have them and some do not. also, what are peoples opinion for color for perch/stripper fishing??
Answer: Yes, the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110's come with three #6 silver treble hooks. In our area (Central CA), anything with a sardine pattern (spots on the sides) is a surefire color. Candy Sardine and MS Pearl White Sardine are two great examples. Also lures with a dark top and blue sides work well: Salty Aurora Black or Zebra MS Aurora Black. With these lures, there really isn't any "dud." Just grab some up and have alot of fun!
Answer: Yes. They have 3 very sharp light gauge wire treble hooks. Use colors that match the forage in your area. Where I am, I use anchovy, sardine, smelt and all white for perch and halibut.
Answer: yes, it comes with hooks... size 5 trebles i think. perch will hit any color. i use lighter colors for stripers.
Answer: You might want to ask seller about the Hooks all of mine did come with them. Also I had the best action with the “MS” stands for “missing scales” the beach perch hit these hard.
Q:
How does one rig this for best results?
Answer: I like using for surf as well. I do not add anything to the rig - tying it directly to my mainline. It swims REALLY WELL on braided between up to 30#. Vary your retrieves and see what works best...if there are rocks, a bit faster works. If completely sand bottom, slow/medium fine, and it won't matter if you drag the bottom from time to time. Good luck!
Answer: I use this in the surf (pacific ocean). I add about a 1/2 - 1 ounce just to get it out some, more if windy. I cast with a 11-12 ft rod w/open face reel. Place sinker about 3-5 feet ahead of lure. Wade out in the surf and fling the hell out of it then a steady med-slow retrieve.
Q:
How many come in a package?
Answer: One lure is in this package.
Answer: One lure per package.
Answer: Only one
Answer: Just one.
Answer: One.
Q:
Already have rapala saltwater lures similar to these. does lc work much better? thanks for any help.
Answer: This particular item & color is the best Halibut catching lure in Southern California, and nothing else. Worth to try.
Answer: Yes LC is the top of the line
Answer: I bought it as a gift. Have no personal knowledge.
Q:
what size hook are on this lure ?
Answer: Not sure but they are the sharpest hooks I have ever used. I have caught many 1 to 2 surf perch and even smelt with a mouth smaller than the hook. Greatest lure I have ever purchased!!!!
Answer: i think they’re size 5
Answer: 3 thin wire number 4’s. They’re ok.
Answer: didn't check the hook size but put on larger ones when stripper fishing.
Q:
Can I use it for the lake fishing like largemouth, crappie?
Answer: Yes, you can. We've had a number of customers who have caught bass in our local lake with them.
Answer: I have use it before but I don’t use it strictly largemouth bass. Good luck
Answer: Yes it could be used in fresh water although I have not heard of anyone using them....
Answer: I wouldn't.
Q:
Does this float, sink or suspend? What is best for surf fishing on the beach?
Answer: It's suspending type. Flashminnow 110 - 714 Metallic Sardine is the best and popular for the surf fishing on the beach.
Answer: Its sink 2’ to 4’ feet deep and can retrieve slow or fast LC flashminnow 110 mettalic sardine is the best for surf ive been catching stripers and perch.
Answer: This lure suspenses and is ideal for surf fishing.
Answer: when you see SP at the end of the model number, that means suspending... My favorite!
Answer: Great question... this lure as its pulled along will sink very nicely in the surf. Also this is my personal favorite for west coast barred perch striped bass i even caught a 35 pound California Halibut....
Q:
It is not including 3 hook?
Answer: 3 hooks are included.
Answer: Its included 3 treble hooks.
Answer: The Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110's come rigged with three silver color treble hooks, size 6. The photo does not show the rigged version.
Q:
So Cal surf... do i just put this on end of the line and no weight? First timer and thank you!
Answer: Yes. Attach, cast and retrieve. Lure has an internal weighted system. Tight lines!
Answer: Yes, just tie it on the end of your line. No weight is needed. Good luck!!!!
Answer: Remember the clear lip will help the lure to dive.
Q:
I see a lot of socal reviews. anyone know how well it does north of the sf bay?
Answer: I have the lure bro and so far I've caught 3 surf perch on it but I've got more stripers on it.
Q:
How can i tell which ones sink, float or suspend? They dont seem marked as such.
Answer: This particular model is a suspended lure. Its specifications are: Length: 4-1/2" (110mm); Weight: 5/8oz (16.5g); Class: Suspending; Belly: #6; Hook Tail: #6; Max Diving Depth:1-2ft; Line: 12-16 lbs. Hope this helps!
Answer: The CIF FM 110 is specifically designed as a suspending lure model. And you will see a "SP" mark on the lure body.
Answer: It's suspending, but it will float in water with high temperature.
Q:
Does this lure contain a rattle?
Answer: Yes, they contain rattling steel balls and shifting weight for further casting.
Answer: It has several ball bearings inside, that make a rattling noise as it is retrieved.
Answer: Indeed it does. They have little balls in the head area as well as a weight distribution ball in the body.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it glow? What is the modle # for the glow style?
Answer: The Laser Ghost Sardine Flash Minnow 110 does not glow. Super Glow Sardine (802897057286) and Green Glow (802897057071) do glow.
Answer: If this is not the super glow sardine then no.
Q:
How much does the lure weigh?
Answer: Hi there, this lure weighs 5/8oz (16.5g). Hope this helps.
Answer: Length: 4-1/2" (110mm)
Answer: 5/8oz
Q:
Has anyone replaced the trebles on these with single in line hooks? And if so what size do you use?
Answer: Yes. As a matter of fact, Owner makes a series of replacement hooks for the Lucky Craft in singles, and the eye lies flat so it fits properly. I would recommend a size 4 or a size 2 single replacement hook. The model is 4101 and we have them for $3.49.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I have not. If you try it, please let us know how it works. I can tell you that the one negative is that the three treble hooks have a tendency to wrap over each other and the line, so I hope your single hook modification works well. My guess would be 4/0 or smaller, but I am not sure.
Q:
What kind, and how do you put the hooks on it?
Answer: IF its a 110FM its a flash minnow if its a 110SP its a surf pointer, look at the modle number. It should come with hooks on it, although some people like to upgrade the treble hooks.
Q:
Wha.t type of line would be used for surf fishing with this lure?
Answer: 8lbs to 12lbs mono
Answer: Depends on what your fishing for i used 10lbs test fluorocarbon for hailbut and 6 for perch just depends
Answer: I used about 3 feet of 20 lbs mono on 20 lbs braid and works like a champ.
Answer: tough question...if i were perch fishing a light mono will work fine ,they have a very soft mouth.if you are in a area where you could latch onto much larger fish i would increase the line strength and have to add weight to make a cast to hit my target area.Good Luck!
Q:
I use a fairly small fanny pack when surf fishing. Any recommended way to store these?
Answer: I use a small over the shoulder bag that fits a plastic storage box. I have seen guys using plastic cigar tubes to store lures when fishing light.
Answer: unfortunately I use a l backpack with plano storage boxes rather than a fanny pack. The best I can do
Q:
Will it be ok to use 30 lb braid tied directly to these lures? Or should I use a fluoro leader and if so, how long and how many lbs test? Thank you.
Answer: I personally don't think 30 pound test would be ideal, but would work I think. Fluoro is up to you. I personally like it when I have it. It happens to be a very light lure, despite it's appearance. I use it for surf casting. 10-20 pound test, and since it has three hooks stock, it tends to get tangled around line easy, especially given windy conditions. But it's a fish catcher! It's a well-known lure in SoCal for Halibut, bigger Perch, and I would even imagine Stripers. 30 lb may work fine, but just seems a tad heavy given the light weight of the lure. I hope that helps.
Answer: I would recommend a short 3-4 foot leader of 20lb. fluorocarbon leader.
Answer: I fish straight 12 or 15# mono. You could fish Spectra but you will loose more fish. The mono allows the fish to load up better.
Q:
Is this the "Surf Pointer" ?
Answer: look at the model number 110SP is a surf pointer 110FM is a flash minnow.
Q:
What hook do I use with metallic sardines?
Answer: These lures come with three #6 silver treble hooks
Answer: The lure should come with #6 owners non corrosive treble hooks already attached. If not that’s the size and type. I’ve had several of these lures for 3-4 years and I always rinse them with fresh water after use at the beach and they have done very well. Little paint rub off here and there but overall great lures.
Answer: I'd use a #8 treble hook
Answer: Don’t know the size of the hook it came with, but it worked just fine.
Answer: Treble. But it came with hooks
Answer: VMC Silver #6.
Q:
do these come with hooks?
Answer: yes.
Q:
what size hook are on this lure ?
Answer: Not sure but they are the sharpest hooks I have ever used. I have caught many 1 to 2 surf perch and even smelt with a mouth smaller than the hook. Greatest lure I have ever purchased!!!!
Answer: i think they’re size 5
Answer: 3 thin wire number 4’s. They’re ok.
Answer: didn't check the hook size but put on larger ones when stripper fishing.
Q:
Will this catch fish in Oregon?
Answer: This is a saltwater lure that will catch albacore or bluefin, nothing over 100lbs probably.
Answer: That is a broad question, but most certainly. For Surf Perch/Halibut, especially the larger kind found in Oregon, this would work phenomenally. I would recommend looking into what the hatch is, or baitfish which you would like to imitate. I have not tried this lure for salmon, but would not rule it out as a possibility given the right color. You will have to let me know how/if it works for salmon. For me, and many local SoCal surf anglers, it's a go-to for larger perch and halibut. If you give it a go, let me know how it works for you. Tight lines!
Answer: Stupid question
Q:
What is the best one for catching perch in Monterey Bay?
Answer: The best way to go would be to match the lure to the local hatch/baitfish. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with any sardine or anchovy variation. I like Zebra Sardine, Metallic Sardine, or Super Glow Sardine since $20 is a bit expensive. Since you are going for Perch, you may also consider trying a Kastmaster (1 oz.), or even more standard stuff like Gulp sand worms, and sand crabs. I hope this helps. Happy fishing!
Answer: Pointer 78 is the best!!!
Answer: You’re more likely to catch small halibut or corbina along the shore with these. Perch would bite better on live sand crabs or small plastic grubs or worms.
Answer: The best for me to use, Is the flash minnow in the 110mm
Answer: This very lure. I use 10-12 lb mono line with a 9ft moderate fast action rod
Q:
I never received my item even though it says it was delivered?
Answer: I would call Amazon Customer Support.
Q:
Has anyone else received just the cardboard backing and no lure?
Answer: Absolutely not. The lure should be quite visible in its package
Answer: The lure always came in the manufacturer’s plastic and cardboard box. Strange yours didn’t have a lure in it.
Q:
So at 5/8 oz do you add lead to get a longer cast or am i missing something on rigging it
Answer: Don’t add any lead, it will ruin their action, just tie straight onto their split ring. I use a spinning reel loaded with 20lb braid main line with a 6’ 15lb mono leader and can get casts of about 100’ (if not into the wind)
Answer: I don’t add weight to get a longer cast I use 25 lb braid then about 2 feet of Mono ! Braid helps that lure to get right out there on shore brake! Hope that helps
Answer: Any added weight would ruin the action of the lure.
Q:
what's the size of this lure?
Answer: Length: 4-1/2” (110mm).
Q:
Why does one color ship from Amazon for free but another color doesn't even though both are sold by the same vendor?
Answer: Because Amazon charges not cheap warehouse cost. Some items are in Amazon warehouse and other are in our warehouse. We ship for free via USPS First Class Mail.
Q:
Why there is no hook on the pictureï¼
Answer: The lure comes with 3 owner sst trebles. It's easier to photograph without hooks
Q:
Does this float, sink or suspend?
Answer: First off; these are GREAT lures. I've been using them much of the past few years in a variety of ocean settings, and they just work! To your question; is you let them stay still they will float on the surface. Very slow retrieve and they find a maximum depth of about 4 feet. Fast retrieve average depth between 1 and 3 feet. They seem to be especially attractive when your retrieve has some kind of variety. Good luck!
Answer: It sinks, or dives just below the surface! Coght many barred perch with it. Great lure !
Answer: Sink 2’ to 4’ deep
Answer: The Spoon makes it go about 2 to 3 feet under water
Q:
is this a "surf pointer" ?
Answer: Yes
Product reviews of Lucky Craft Fishing Lure CIF Flash Minnow 110 California Inshore Fishing
Bluemookie - Amazon Customer : Great Lure
Lucky craft makes the best SoCal inshore fishing lures....Period! You can get this a few dollars cheaper at your local fishing store. I also recommend that you watch out for the seagulls when throwing this..... I tossed this lure into the surf only to see a seagull come diving down out of the sky to hit my lure. After a couple minute battle with the seagull (dragging him to land) he took to the air...... Not that flying kites isn't fun.... but the thing finally figured out he could fly torward me faster than I could reel in the slack and was able to break my line off! All I could do was watch it fly off with my favorite lure attached to it's beak. LOL. This is why I am replacing it through amazon, got to use the christmas gift cards on something...hehehe.
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
For surf perch.
Bobby Belcher : Outstanding
I have invested in many LC Excellent lure well worth the money. Nailed the biggest halibut of my life right out of the surf, killing the Bared pearch and looking forward to a Striper summer with some corvinia in the mix...
Hanole N. : It sure is lucky
I use this lure when fishing in the surf. I live in california and in the surf common things to catch is surf perch and stripe bass. I have gotten lots of perch with this lure, they really love it. This lure really get that, the action it makes is nice and attractive to the fish. But then again, fishing is a hit or miss.
When this lure does't work in the surf, go for sandcrabs.
Da Bomb : Fish on
Sweet product, beautifully crafted.
mike b. : Here fishy fishy
Looks like a nice lure. Can't wait to try it.

I bought this lure because i thought it lights up (led) description was misleading and/or I didnt read the full description. My fault. However it looks like its very high quality lure. I took a bunch of pictures so you guys can see. I will be returning it because I was looking for a lure that lights up. Thanks amazon for speedy shipping and hasle free return!
Hello what : Five Stars

SoCal Teacher : Expensive but pays for itself with great catches!
This is a very expensive lure but it is worth it!! Many people here in Southern California use this lure but when I saw the price I figured I could get something similar from a cheaper brand. My fishing buddy got one of these and began crushing it in the surf and the bay. My "cheaper" and "similar" lures were not bringing me any success. I finally broke down and got the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110. I have never looked back. This thing feels like quality and catches fish. I have hooked up in the surf and in the bay with some great catches.
So is it expensive? Yes. If I snagged it on an underwater rock would I jump in after it? Yup, because it is my favorite lure and I like catching fish.
Amazon Customer : Pre-opened lure box.
Product was opened before I received it. Original lure box had been opened at some point and then wide masking tape was used to put the lure in. This is a pretty expensive lure and didn't like the fact that it came pre-opened. I hope it's not a knock off of some kind but it does appear to be an original and in decent shape. Just not cool that it was tampered with.

Longcast Joe : Impressed with the glow quality on this
This has a good bright long lasting glow material on it, lasts a good 15 minutes between needing to be recharged with a flashlight. The rest has the usual awesome 110 qualitys
JL : Learn to tie great knots and don't lose it
This is a very special lure. Words don't really describe it, but the fish really want it. Learn to tie great knots and don't lose it.
AW : Good action
Good action
Ed : Not impressed
Not as useful as other reviews say . I tried it many many times and it did not work. I don’t know about all the reviews out here but it’s not the reality
M. Duhon : Five Stars
Perfect condition! Already caught fish with it!
unstoppablemuaythairobot : Feeling Lucky?
Beautiful and realistic design. Great swimming action. My only genuine gripe is the light weight of the lure, which causes it to easily snag. This is especially so given that it has three hooks. Despite this minor drawback, it's a wonderfully productive lure to have in your arsenal if you are a West Coast surf angler.
Amazon Customer : Not sure it's even a Lucky Craft
Bunch of paint chipped off inside the bag when received & it didn't come in any kind of Lucky Craft packaging whatsoever. Will have to compare the depth & action to confirm, but pretty suspect based on the lack of Lucky Craft packaging & horrible, cheap method of packaging an expensive hard bait for shipping.
Confirmed they're a LuckyCraft distributor, not sure why they wouldn't include the original packaging to at least prevent damage in shipping.

Bob Berlage : Fantastic lure after modifications
We use this lure bounce-ball trolling for halibut in the Monterey Bay, California. It's like heroin for halibut. The major criticism is that the original hooks and split rings are pretty flimsy. At a minimum you should put a heavier split ring on the nose and a heavier split ring and treble hook on the tail. If I'm not in a rush I'll also put a heavier split ring and treble hook on the middle ring. Don't attach this lure with a snap swivel. They work a lot better tying fluorocarbon directly to the lure. We use 40# test for halibut trolling.
Mako : Expensive-but the popular surf lure West Coast
Really like these lures, but a little light if tossing in the surf with wind going against you...at least for a bait caster. They look good, but i think either using a spinning reel or maybe adding a few BB's will help with the casting. You can move up in size for a heavier lure, but the dimensions will increase as well. Clean with soap and water after saltwater use goes without saying.
BuccLao : Good stuff !!!
Exactly what I wanted but was not on time on delivery ... Took a long time but good stuff thx
Rod M : Fish on!
Caught a flounder on the first day i used this.
