Gear Ratio: 5.7:1S A-RB These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation. Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power. In some reels, the Super Stopper II can be turned off to allow backreeling for special techniques and situations. Dyna Balance This feature eliminates wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing, an approach similar to car tire balancing, we are able to redistribute the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations caused by the reel.

Answer: nom it has regular bail
Answer: yes it does
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it does.
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
Does this reel have a bait click feature to alert when line is being taken off by a fish?
Answer: No bait clicker
Answer: No it does not
Q:
What size do recommend for freshwater trout?
Answer: Depends on the rest of your rig. Light line (4-6 lb) works fine on the 1000 size. The 2500 can also work, and add the flexibility of larger freshwater fish like bass.
Answer: 2500 works well for trout up to 5 pounds... use 8 pound test line
Answer: 2500 would do fine for trout
Answer: I have the 4000 which I often use for 10 to 15 lb or so Striped bass.... If you are looking for something to catch small Brookies or Rainbows up to say 2 or 3 lb a 2500 is plenty. I don't see it advertised in the Spirex model but the Shimano Syncopate in 2500 works well, is lower priced and still has the trigger.
Answer: I would go with the 2500
Q:
Hello I want to order one of these for my lightweight 5'6 rod. Which model size do you recommend. I don't want it to be to big for the rod.
Answer: I guess it depends what you want to fish for. I use the 1000 for light action rods and my shorter rods 6' 6'6" but have used it on a 7' light and have caught fish. For my medium action rods and anything 7' and up I use the 2500 or 4000
Answer: The 1000 is the way to go. Have 2 and are great lite weight rods
Answer: i'd get the smallest onedue to the weight factor, i have enjoyed the shimano 1000 even using braid line, catchin g so far up to 8# bass.
Answer: I don't think it's too heavy, but it does have some weight to it. Wouldn't consider it to be a light weight reel, however, for the price, it is one of the smoothest reels you can own. Mine took an hour or so to smooth out, but it is very nice now. I'd get another one.
Q:
Necesito el spirex 1000 fg... a cual corresponde? i need the spirex 1000 fg ... to which corresponds?

Answer: I have the parts booklet it is made in 11 countries mine was made in north America you can look upon keep America fishing.org
Answer: korea
Q:
Which size is recommended for a ultra light rod. It's difficult to tell size online.
Answer: I'd get the Spirex 1000 for most UL rods. The 4000 would be way too big. You might get away with the Spirex 2500 if you have a longer UL rod, say above 6 1/2 ft, but for most UL rods the Spirex 1000 is the way to go.
Answer: The 1000 is light or ultralight. Spool has a little larger diameter than a quarter.
Answer: The 1000 is light or ultralight. Spool has a little larger diameter than a quarter.
Answer: Like everyone replied fg1000 or rg1000. The one that says 4/140 is the one I got. It takes 2# 270yd 4/140 and 6/110. Idk what the 2/200 one is the description doesn't even list 2#.
Answer: the one i bought i used for ultra-light . works fine
Q:
Which selection is the 2500fg? Some other people have asked this question, but the answer is unclear. Thank you!
Answer: 2500 is the same size as a 2500 president from pfluger it is the lager middle size. This is a good size for most inland lakes.
Q:
Where is this reel manufactured... ?, thanks
Answer: korea
Q:
Is the medium light size reel the sr2500fg reel?
Answer: I am not for sure about that? sorry. The reel works well for me.
Q:

Answer: Nope.
Q:
Is it possible to convert left handle and right handle?
Answer: Yes! You can change it from right to left by just removing the handle's set screw.
Answer: Yes it is! I switched the handle on mine.
Answer: yes. simple and easy, no tools required.
Answer: Yes ....just unscrew and switch sides.
Q:
so what model is it? i searched for a 4000 and the display is a 1000, i am looking to order 3 of the 4000
Answer: I ordered the 1000, if you know the line sizes of the 4000 select the different items in the drop down thing then look at the specs. By comparing to the listing for the 4000RG line size 8.10.12 the one described as medium light should be the 4000FG.
Product reviews of Shimano Spirex Fg Spinning Reel
stanley koh : Shimano Spirex 4000 FG Front Spin
Just buy it, the reel is ok, except the hand a bit inconvenience when keeping it & the guide for the spool away return to the casting position maybe it is design for convenience one hand casting. Overall a good model!
Mr. Crunchy : Good Reel- Good Value- Heavy
Only used this thing once so far, so time will tell about durability, etc. I have the 4000 model. Paired it with a 7' inshore rod and 15# braid. Great combo. Reel is very smooth, love the trigger, feel is great, but its a heavy reel. Heavy as in it weighs a lot. I could see a full day of fishing with this thing being somewhat tiresome, but if you get to spend an entire day fishing, you better not be complaining. Would definitely buy again. Good reel at a good price.
Azfisher : Like it
Just what I expected and with fast delivery. Smooth casting with a 7" rod, but I am still getting used to the double grip.

Amazon Customer : Shimano Spirex 400 FG Spinning Reel
I fish in salt water exclusively, spinning lures between 3/8th ounce to 1/2 ounces. This Spirex 4000 FG is nearly identical to the rear drag model; featuring the Quick Fire II trigger. I personally am "hooked", pun intended, on the Quick Fire system. It take a huge step out of the next cast, and most importantly, I don't have to take my eyes off an area where I want to put a follow up cast. It also speeds up and simplifies my fishing experience each outing.
The action is very smooth, hardly any wobble when reeling fast and the drag is very smooth. Regarding it's overall weight, I rate it as average. I would have liked if it where a little lighter, but I'm guessing that for a middle of the pack reel in the Shimano line-up, its about par with the competition in this price range. This reel only comes with one spool, would have earned the 5th star if it came with a second/spare.
The line fires off the reel nicely, with hardly any resistance for long, really long casts. The line lays very evenly on retrieval, and so far, I've never experience a bird's nests, fouls, or tangles. It's built like a tank, and I expect this reel to last me a very long time. I also have the rear drag model, and though I've heard the arguments of rear drag verses front drag, I personally find the drag performance to be a non issue. Both are very smooth, predictable and strong. I mainly used 10 lb. mono in this set up.
There are two concerns on the Spirex 4000's. Servicing and adjusting the drag during a hook up. To service a rear drag model yourself is more delicate than the front drag model. Also in rear drag models, salt build-up happens more than the front drag model. If you service your reels yourself, don't neglect cleaning and protecting the rear drag system. As for the plus on the rear drag system, its much easier to adjust your drag while fighting a fish on the line since you don't have to reach in front of your reel and potentially mess up. Lastly, the center of balance is different between both models, rear and front drag Spirex's. You can definitely feel the difference when mounting this on your rod. Both are solid, dependable reels that you'll be happy to own.
