Questions about FoodSaver 111, NO SIZE, White
Q:
Can this be used on canning jars?
Answer: YES, this can be used on canning jars, but you need canning jar adapters. Look for Food Saver Wide Mouth and Regular Mouth canning jar sealers here on Amazon. All you need to do is use the Unit right over the hole on the canning jar sealers, no tubing necessary. NOTE: this does not replace pressure or heat canning for perishable items, but works well for preserving dried foods and extends the life of foods stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
Answer: Yes. For anyone who wants to use this on canning jars, it works like KnitOT said...you put the unit directly on the jar sealers (either size). It takes about 5-10 seconds and the air is sucked out and the cap is on tight!
Answer: Yes, it works great for me. Get the adapter and set the unit over the mason jar. Don’t waste your money on the tubing thing, it doesn’t work that well. Note: not a substitute for canning. It extends the freshness of the food like the suction bags.
Answer: I have the handheld and the regular sealer unit. The instructions explicitly state to not use the handheld for canning jars. My guess is that there is no pressure regulator on the handheld as there is on the regular sealer. I wouldn't chance it for fear of the jar exploding.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Hi there, in answer to your question the instruction says: The vacuum packaging is not a substitute for canning. I hope this answers your question.
Answer: I really don't see how it could. Heating the food and putting it in the jars, and then metal lids on it that seal as it cools.....I don't see how this would work. Maybe if you rigged something with tubing? Look it up on utube....It works great with the bags, and the plastic containers, though.
Answer: No. Only the zipper lock vacuum bags.
Q:
can this one be used for making pickles with Regular and wide mouth Jar Sealer?
Answer: It will vacuum seal a mason jar lid if you use it in conjunction with the FoodSaver Wide Mouth Jar Sealer attachment which is about $10. See Salad in a Jar video on youtube.
Answer: I would imagine so if you have the special attachment lids for the jars. HOWEVER, as an avid canner myself, I would NOT recommend sealing jars of food in this fashion. The hot water bath and/or pressure canning systems do more than merely seal the jars. They kill microbes that would otherwise destroy the food and/or make people ill. This is a good unit for saving leftovers, splitting up frozen foods into smaller quantities, and preserving dried foods. I, personally, would not use it for long-term storage of fresh or wet foods.
Answer: pickles do not need to be sterilized as such or vacuumed, the brine is what takes care of preventing spoilage but it does need to be acid enough to do its job. I hot pack my zucchini pickles and do not heat them any further, just put the sterilized lids on the canning jars and let them cool on the counter. I have some I made a year and a half ago and they are still good.
Answer: This is not to be used to replaced canning. You could, however, use this when making a recipe specifically called "refrigerator pickles", and using the vacuum would basically marinate them more quickly.
Answer: I can't really answer your question, but I would tend to doubt that it would work properly, because it produces less vacuum than a full size unit.
Answer: Sorry but I have no idea how this would work for that job. I don't think it would work.
Q:
ist work on 220 v electricity?
Answer: Its work on 220v, I bought one and use in overseas (outside US) and the adaptor write 110-240v & 50/60 Hz. My country electricity 220v and its work well.
Answer: YES!!!. the power adapter is worldwide supported 110-240v.
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We do not recommend using them in different countries due to the difference in voltage.
Answer: It can be charged by a 120V source (60hz) in the US.
Answer: Yes, but only if use a 110-120 transformer.
Q:
Does it seal by melting at all?
Answer: I see three conflicting answers. Having just started using this and the special bags, I can tell you my observation (on this old thread):
Answer: It only seals by suctioning air. For canning jars, it can be used directly on top jar sealers if you can find them.
Answer: No heat or melting. There is a small sticker that you peel back. The hole only allows air to flow out and not in.
Answer: The Fresh Saver bags have a one way valve ( do not remove the hard plastic tab from the bag as that will break the one way valve) that allows air to be pulled out but does not allow it back into the bag. You must be sure that the zip closer, that you open to put food into the bag, is well sealed or it will leak air back into the bag.
Answer: It seals by heating a strip to fuse the ends of the bag.
Q:
Is the red light on the unit suppose to stay on while it is charging? Thanks all for answering!! I contacted Foodsaver they are sending the correct power supply It shipped with the wrong one which is curious, doesn't plug in far enough to charge the unit. Thanks again all!!!!!!
Answer: From my experience, as long as the unit is attached to the charger and AC is active, the light stays on. I usually plug it in only when the unit seems low and leave it plugged in overnight.
Answer: The red light indicates the unit is plugged in, and that is charging. It does not go out.
Answer: We leave it plugged in all the time. Can't see that it harms it in any way..
Answer: Mine does.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you buy just the charger? I've misplaced mine.
Answer: You can call the Manufacturer and get it from them. Or you can purchase a universal AC/DC adapter, just make sure it has a 5.5mm tip and can provide 5V and 0.1A output, higher current should also be fine, the device will not take more than it needs. Search for "Universal AC DC Adapter" in Amazon and you'll find plenty of options.
Answer: I have no idea, I've never tried ...sorry!
Q:
What's the Watt/Volt specs on the charger plug, please? Thanks.
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We are unable to provide the wattage ratings, as revisions in product may vary in wattage.
Q:
Can you freeze sealed bags
Answer: Some foods freeze better in sealed bags than others. This is something you have to experiment with, but most foods will last considerably longer when frozen in the sealed bags.
Answer: From what I understand, yes you can freeze sealed bags, since the bags are for both the freezer and fridge. If you asked me if the vacumm seal will stay closed, I cannot answer that question, since my machine will not vacumm seal the bags for me to try out. I can use it as a small blow dryer instead.
Answer: Yes you can. We use them specifically to freeze meat that we know won't get eaten immediately. It helps prevent freezer burn. We have also frozen cheese in them.
Answer: Yes, you can air-vac and freeze.
Answer: Yes you can. That's the best part.
Q:
can this be used with ziplock vacuum sealer bags?
Answer: Yes I have used it on the ziploc bags.
Answer: Yes you can. Just put it over the hole where you would normally put the ziploc hand pump.
Answer: don't know
Q:
Will this keep water out if put in a sous vide water bath?
Answer: I don't know what a sous vide water bath is, but I freeze soups and stews in it with no problem.
Answer: We do not recommend using the Vacuum Zipper Bags for sous vide cooking.
Answer: Yes. I makes a water tight seal.
Q:
recharable or battery?
Answer: Charging. Mine is new from 2017. Once you initially charge it and use it, when the battery drains and you recharge it...... what is the time frame recommended by the company? It is not on the web site.
Answer: Internal rechargeable battery.
Answer: Rechargeable battery (NiMH or NiCad I think)... Slooow recharge times.
Answer: yes it has a rechargeable battery installed
Answer: Rechargeable with a removable cord. If it is the same model I have, there is no base, just the cord. The charge lasts a long time.
Answer: My hand-held is rechargeable. It's a really great product.
Answer: Rechargeable
Answer: Rechargable
Q:
When vacuum sealing mason jars, how do I know when they are sealed?
Answer: You can hear it. However, there are better ways to seal mason jars which have a tendency to loosen over time. Vacuum packing is better used for packaging that can wrap itself around the food being sealed such as special vacuum bags. Pressure canning and hot water baths are better for Mason Jars as they heat the seals so they seal better, faster and longer.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: There is a 2nd pop. When you use the Jar attachment it makes a slight pop when the air starts being sucked out. The sound changes slightly Then a second much louder pop when the air is out. I freeze quite a bit and use it for jar salads and it keeps them just fine. You might not hear the second Big pop till you release the trigger.
Answer: Unable to answer your question, I've never sealed mason jars. Sorry I couldn't help, however, looking forward to another answer to your response for the answer myself.
Answer: The bag tends to cling to whatever it is you're trying to seal.
Answer: Sorry, I have had no experience using this for canning.
Q:
Rechargeable or battery operated?
Answer: It is rechargable. Comes with a small power supply that plugs into the unit. Works great with ziploc vacuum freezer bags!
Answer: rechargeable
Answer: Rechargeable
Answer: Mine is rechargeable
Q:
does it come with bags
Answer: Bags are not included with the FreshSaver.
Q:
Does this item come with a power plug? I don't see one with the one I ordered
Answer: yes. it should be all packed together in a sealed package. get in touch with the seller at once. they will make good i am sure.
Answer: Yes it does.
Q:
does this come with a charger stand? If not, do I have to buy one?
Answer: This is so inexpensive $5.98, its a steal...You do not need the stand. Just plug this in, and lay this on your counter while it charges..
Answer: some of them have stands you have to check them. They are a little more expensive. This particular one just has the cord.
Answer: Yes, charger and stand are the same unit
Q:
Can this be used with the marinating container
Answer: You would have to modify to attach the tubing to the port on the fresh saver and then to the marinator. I think I saw a video where someone did this with zip ties but I have not used it this way. I do know that it takes longer to pull the vacuum than my wine saver so it is clearly not as powerful.
Answer: I just bought the marinating container and can confirm that it does work.
Answer: yes i think it could be because i love marinating food cheers
Answer: No, you are required to use a full sized vac sealer for that process.
Q:
This unit DoesNotWork for FoodSaver canisters. Has anyone hacked it to work with canisters? How?
Answer: The FreshSaver is not designed to work with FoodSaver Canisters. We do not advise attempting to adapt the sealer to use it with the FoodSaver Canisters.
Q:
What is the vacuum pressure this sealer can create in terms of psi, in Hg, etc?
Answer: This vacuum sealer pulls between 7 and 10 inches of mercury, or 3.438079065589 to 4.91154152227 psi.
Q:
I have lost the "O" ring to my pump where can I get a replacement?
Answer: Try your local hardware store they have o-rings in many sizes.
Answer: I would contact the manufacturer at www.foodsaver.com to see if they can send you a replacement .
Answer: I truely do not know. Have you tried where you bought it? Or you might want to contact the Food Saver Company. Sorry, I hope this helps you.
Q:
can I use this with the food saver hose
Answer: The FreshSaver HandHeld vacuum sealer is compatible with the Vacuum Zipper Bags and Deli Containers. It is not compatible with the FoodSaver Accessory Hose.
Answer: it does not work, but unfortunately I tried it months after I received it so could not return it... it just flat out does not work!
Q:
Does this come with a charging stand? Or is there just a hole for a plug-in cord. What makes this different from the red one with the charging stand?
Answer: the one I have is white with a white charger stand, model fsfrsh0059-000 which I have had for about 8 yrs. It too has a hole in the bottom into which you can plug a cord. So if you can find just a charger stand that should work. I see no difference between one that came with a charger stand and one that just came with a cord besides the price. Mine just sits on the counter, with the charger plugged in so it is always ready and I use it a lot.
Answer: No charging stand, just a cord with a wall wart.
Answer: It comes with a cord. The charge has lasted a long time. I haven't used the cord yet.
Q:
can you reuse the zip bags
Answer: Yes, that's the beauty of this foodsaver. You can use part of whatever is in the bag and seal it back up.
Answer: yes .... if the food stored in it has a strong aroma ie fish ... wash it, allow it to dry & reuse
Answer: Yes, you can. Just wash them out with warm soapy water and let them air dry.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can this be used with clothes or blankets vacuum bags?
Answer: Works with small food storage bags for food saver.
Answer: I don't believe it is strong enough for such a large bag. Would probably take hours to do!!
Answer: You could but it would be undersized for your standard bags.
Q:
How long does the seal hold?? Thanks!!
Answer: For the bags I store in the refrigerator, I've had no sealing problems at all over periods of several weeks (I usually consume the food by that time). They seem to have no problems even after resealing them. I have no experience using the bags in the freezer. I've only used the deli container a couple of times. And in both instances the seals had problems. The deli containers are a little more finicky to seal because of their seal design.
Answer: Are you talking about the bags or the deli containers? If the lid was put on the deli containers correctly, it'll stay sealed until you open them. I've had mixed results with the bags....some hold a complete seal for days, others will let a little air seep in, but usually they're still a lot better than just storing in regular bags. I use my system a lot. The containers do work better, in my opinion.
Answer: I have not had a problem as of yet with seal failure.
Q:
what is the input voltage/amp of the charger?
Answer: The wattage and amps of the charger of the FreshSaver is 5V and 0.1A.
Answer: Input 100-240Volts.......50-60 Hertz......0.2 Amps
Answer: 50/60Hz, 0.2A
Q:
can i use other brand bags
Answer: I use this in conjunction with canning jars only. BUT I have read on the fb canning groups that some people use other than the name brand bags, as long as they are thick enough.
Answer: As long as the other brand bags has a round ring about the size of a dollar coin and say that it's compatible with this device, I don't see why not. Though I have not tried it with any other brands yet.
Answer: Yes. Just ensure the bags have the proper orifice. I use mine as the motor for my goat milker.
Answer: As long as this product fits the place where air is removed. You will have to compare other brands to determine if they work.
Answer: This is a piece of junk, it is so old the zip bags that came with it were yellowing. The shape of the vacuum is not the same as the new ones I tried this and didn’t work.
Answer: Lisa, if the other bag has a similar sealing disc valve, I can see no reason why it wouldn't work. To be sure, get a sample or a small quantity.
Answer: yes , as long as it fits over bag valve , just be sure you keep it charged up , or you will be whining lie Bobbie ....lol
Answer: I don't think you are able to.
Q:
can one vacuum seal store bought ziplock bags
Answer: No, the bag needs a special opening for vacuuming out the air. I have, however used it for regular plastic bags with no "zipper" by just gathering up the opening of the bag and encircling it in my fist, pulling back the top over my hand and holding the device over the opening to suck the air out. Then you can fasten the bag with a twist-tie. It works OK for short term storage.
Answer: Unfortunately not. Only the approved bags :/
Answer: Generally not...but it really depends on which FoodSaver you purchase. The 'automatic' ones cannot! The ones you seal by closing the lid, allows you to.
Answer: As of now I don't know as I can't use my vacuum sealer until I can purchase a European adaptor for my sealer. When I have an answer to that I will get back to you.
Q:
Can you use regular baggies or do you have to but theirs?
Answer: You’d have to buy theirs or ones that are made for food sealing devices.
Answer: You can't use regular bags, you must buy the food saver ones
Answer: We recommend using FoodSaver zipper bags. The FoodSaver zipper bags have a port to vacuum seal the bags.
Q:
How do you dispose old sealers that no longer work considering that there are batteries inside?
Answer: We would recommend you check with your local recycling program, as they will provide you the best way to dispose of your old FoodSaver handheld sealer.
Q:
How to know if the container is sealed?
Answer: Make sure rubber gasket on lid is free from food materials. Examine rim of canister for cracks or scratches. Any gaps can prevent canisters from vacuuming properly. Make sure FreshSaver is securely inserted into vacuum port on the canister lid. You will see a divot in the middle of the vacuum port to show that your deli container is sealed.
Answer: I haven't figured out how to use the container as yet. Sorry I can't help ......
Answer: Sometimes it will stop te sucking action or you can look at it and tell when the air is out the bag.
Q:
Can this be used for ziploc space bags??
Answer: The FreshSaver is designed to work with the FoodSaver FreshSaver vacuum zipper bags.
Q:
Would this work for dry goods, flour, etc.?
Answer: The FreshSaver can be used to vacuum seal dry goods in either the Vacuum Zipper Bags or any FoodSaver Containers. When sealing anything powdery or very loose in the zipper bags, we recommend placing a paper towel between the food and the vacuum port on the bag. This will help you keep all the food in the bag, and avoid any small particles from pulling through the port and possible inhibiting the seal. Please note that it is not compatible with the FoodSaver Canisters or other FoodSaver Accessories that require the use of the Accessory Hose.
Answer: Yes. I use it for my flours, Stevia, and all kinds of dry goods. I use a lot of different flours that I keep in my freezer and this works perfectly.
Answer: Yes, I've used it for cream of wheat. The valve won't suck up the flour but you do need to make sure that you don't try to overfill the bag. You control how much air you suck out and if you make it as small as possible the flour will probably need sifting to fluff it back up.
Answer: Never tried. But it should. Maybe less well for flour than grains, since flour might get sucked into the evaluator.
Answer: I have friends that use theirs for everything from bulk bags of M&Ms and cornmeal to frozen fruits and meats.
Q:
Can you reuse the mason jar flats?
Answer: The flat metal tops can be reused as long as they are completely in tact.
Answer: I have not used them.
Q:
Can you overcharge this device?
Answer: Yes. Keep it off the charger until the power is running low. Keeping it attached to the charger all the time will kill the battery. I found this out the hard way and eventually needed to buy a new device.
Answer: I left mine plugged in overnight and it wasn't hot or anything else, and it was full changed.
Q:
What is the difference between model 00050 and model 00051?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Our model 00050 and 00051 don't have any difference as they are the same machine that has the same capabilities and features. Hope this helps and always stay safe!
Answer: Our model 00050 and 00051 don't have any difference as they are the same machine that has the same capabilities and features. Hope this helps and always stay safe!
Answer: I can't address your specific models, but I have had three of these devices through the years. And I'm telling you, if you are a regular vacuum-freezing cook, go for the electric counter-top FoodSaver Fresh Food Preservation System, Space Saver. The chargeable battery in the hand-held doesn't last.
Q:
What kind of charging cord does this use, and are replacements available?
Answer: The FoodSaver FreshSaver comes with a standard 110 AC charging cord. For assistance with obtaining a replacement cord, please give us a call at 877-777-8042. For your convenience, we are available 8a-8p Monday - Friday, EST and 9a-6p Saturday, EST.
Answer: It comes with it's own charging cord. I would think you would be able to buy a replacement cord from the company. This is a GREAT little device!
Answer: It came with a standard charging cord. You probably have a charging cord at home that will fit.
Q:
I am buying this to primarily use to freeze home made sauce, pesto, meatballs etc. Do the bags stay sealed?
Answer: The bags absolutely stay sealed - HOWEVER - buy the full unit -- this is a great portable system, but is a little weak for sealing a number of bags at one time. I use this for travel - but I could not do without the full sized counter unit.
Answer: Yes they do stay sealed, but you have to make sure that the two sides of the bat opening lock. You will know if the seal hasn't been made when you try and extract the air out of the bag. It's just a tad bit harder to seal the bag than a Zip Lock bag but when it is sealed it stays shut.
Answer: Funny, just used mine a few minutes ago... works GREAT with the Food Saver Zip Locks. If long timer, you might have to do a quick little one here and there, but they seal tight!! Use it more often than my big heat sealing one!! I use only the Food Saver Zip Locks, never tried any off brands, but these double seal at the top and seem to really hold the vacuum! Hope that helps!
Answer: I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't freeze what you will be freezing but the seal did hold very well. Make sure that when you press the seal strips, you can hear them "click" together. I press mine several times to insure the process will work.
Answer: I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't freeze what you will be freezing but the seal did hold very well. Make sure that when you press the seal strips, you can hear them "click" together. I press mine several times to insure the process will work.
Answer: The instructions recommend that for liquids you use containers like canning jars or plastic freezer boxes.
Answer: Didn't try yet.
Q:
What type of material is the tip of this device (the part that you place against the bags)? If it's rigid, are there issues getting a tight seal?
Answer: The grey portion of the tip of the FreshSaver is a sturdy, yet somewhat pliable rubber, and is designed to help you get a tight seal on all FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper Bags and Deli Containers.
Answer: It is rigid but I haven't had any issues with the seal. It's a good product that I've been very satisfied with.
Answer: I have had no problem getting the bags to seal
Q:
Can you use this to freeze vegetables?
Answer: Yes, but I use my regular vacuum sealer for long term items, but this one for short term such as lunch meat, cheese, and fresh vegetables.
Answer: You can vacuum seal FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper Bags and Deli Containers with the FreshSaver. The Vacuum Zipper Bags and the Deli Containers can be stored in the refrigerator and the pantry.
Answer: I believe that you can but I use my regular food saver for that just make sure that the ziplock is tight
Q:
Can you use it to seal coffee
Answer: When vacuum packaging coffee, place a coffee filter or napkin on top of the coffee under the port and zipper area of the bag, or before placing the lid on the container. This will prevent the oil in the coffee (ground or beans) from being drawn up into the seal area and allow for a good seal every time.
Answer: yes I do, it works great- I empty the container in a zip back and I leave it in the original bag (I use dunkin donuts and cains)--it's part of the reason I got it. I haven't had any problem with it not holding the seal- It works great for left over grilled meat!
Answer: I would not trust it to hold the seal, sorry :(
Answer: No
Answer: If you have it in one of there zip lock baggies, yes.
Q:
Will this work for their canisters?
Answer: The hand-held unit requires an accessory hose (part of the larger heat seal pkg) for use with the canisters. I already had the larger unit when I purchased the hand-held and find the hose works well, tho a bit awkward to handle.
Answer: We have used it on the small rectangle tuperware type containers. they do not however seal as well as the bags.
Answer: I use this with a mason jar attachment, so that I can seal them up but still use glass rather than plastic.
Answer: food saver will, fresh saver will not
Q:
Will this work with Space bags (for clothes)?
Answer: If I remember correctly, the Space bag is the dimension of a vacuum cleaner hose, which is much larger than the nose of the Freshsaver...so, the answer is 'no'.
Answer: Depends an the size of the clothes bag opening, I think it may be too small, espc if the clothes bags are designed to be used with a vacuum cleaner!I found a wine bottle hand pump fit the food saver bags, and was simpler than the junky electric hand foodsaver!
Answer: I would think so, although I only used it for much smaller bags, like sandwich size.
Answer: I really don't know, because I never try to use it for clothes space bags. I believe the answer should be "probably not" due to the suction capacity of this device. I hope this will help you.
Answer: theoretically it should work, practically it does not, the opening is too big to fit. Besides that, it would take forever for this little suction to vacuum all the air out. Use a vacuum cleaner, that's what they werre designed for.
Answer: Based on the video I just watched on the Spacebag website, the answer would be NO. Spacebags are meant to be used with your vacuum cleaner to suction out the air.
Q:
What do I need to suck the air out of the FoodSaver quick marinating canister 2.25 quart?
Answer: You either need a seal a m.eal with attachment or the handheld vacuum sealing system FAFRSHoo51 which sells for around $20.00
Answer: Mine fits all my canisters with no other equipment if you have the older canisters you may need the small tube which fits also on this after removing clear plastic top
Answer: The FreshSaver is designed to be used with zipper bags and deli containers.
Answer: just the hand held vacuum
Answer: nothing. just plug into outlet
Q:
Does it shut itself off when it's done suctioning or do you stop it manually when you think it looks done?
Answer: It will not automatically shut off. Once you use it awhile you'll notice a sound change. Also, make sure u watch any fluid in your bag so it doesn't get up in the motor. I really Love mine! I've had it for a long time.
Answer: you shut it down manually
Answer: The pitch changes when the zipper bag or container is done vacuuming.
Q:
Can someone tell me what is the best deal for buying vacuum sealer bags for this unit (either gallon size or quart size)? And best quality brands??
Answer: The FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealing System is designed for use only with FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper Bags. Our FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper bags are made with a reinforced double-track zipper and multi-ply material with air channels that help push the air out of the bag. The best size zipper bag to use will depend on what you are sealing. If you would like more assistance, please feel free to contact us through our www.foodsaver.com/contactus website.
Answer: i bought the name brand ones at first and then i bought a grocery store brand (Winn Dixie) and they work fine, i dont think the size matters just the valve on the bag.
Answer: Just buy the foodsaver bags and avoid the frustration of getting off brand junk that doesn't work... I kno... And as far as gallon or quart it just depends on what your planning on sealing buy one of each and go from there
Q:
Do you sell a replacement battery for the hand held unit?
Answer: Great question! The battery is not replaceable in the Foodsaver FreshSaver. If you are experiencing issues with your FreshSaver, please give us a call at 877-777-8042. For your convenience, we are available 8a-8p Mon- Fri, EST and 9a-6p Saturday, EST.
Answer: No
Q:
why didnt my red one come with the charge stand ? where do i find adaptors for mason jars & food canister ?
Answer: This model FreshSaver does not come with the charging stand included. The FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealing System is not compatible with FoodSaver Jar Sealers, FoodSaver Canisters, or any FoodSaver Accessories that require the use of the FoodSaver Accessory Hose.
Answer: Mine only came with a cord to charge it, no stand. I do not know of any adapter for jars. I believe that only comes with the actual Food Saver bag unit.
Answer: I'm not sure what you were expecting. These don't come with charge stands, just the charging cord. As for adaptors, the containers we bought came with the adaptor. I've seen kits for mason jars on Amazon but to me, they looked like they were for the full food saver. I don't know if the fresh saver can do those jobs.
Answer: Mine didn't come with a charge stand either....just the plug in charger.
Q:
Does this work with foodsaver quick 2.25 quart marinator?
Answer: Yes, it works with all Foodsaver brand bags and containers.
Answer: All foodsaver products (bags and containers) should work with the Foodsaver Vacuum System.
Answer: No, the FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealer is NOT compatible with the Quick Marinator. Thanks!
Answer: Foodsaver products work with the Food Saver Vacuum System.
Answer: yes
Q:
Can this be used with clothes or blankets vacuum bags?
Answer: Works with small food storage bags for food saver.
Answer: I don't believe it is strong enough for such a large bag. Would probably take hours to do!!
Answer: You could but it would be undersized for your standard bags.
Product reviews of FoodSaver 111, NO SIZE, White
J. S. Murray : This is poor quality - do NOT buy
I initially gave this a high rating - until I had to return one of them because it would not hold a charge. Each time I tried to use it, there was no power and it would not operate with the charging unit plugged in. A replacement is just as bad. I've had it plugged in an hour before preparing a sous vide dish and it has zero power. I've contacted Food Saver direct but, after 3 weeks, have not heard from them. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IT WON"T WORK.
packersam : sadly disappointed
after the first use found it would not really hold a charge and was lucky to get two bags done before it died, then takes f forever to charge enough too do another bag. Thought maybe I got a "lemon" so actually purchased a second one and same issues. will not buy a 3rd one. If it held a charge it would be great and easy to use but not worth the money
Plantina : Nice portable vacuum sealer - lasts about 2 years
UPDATE:
Product life it about 2 years... now I have to keep in on the charger.
Great product while it lasts. I use it all the time for the storage bags and the adaptor that vacuum seals mason jars. I only wish it had a display light that would alert you to low power.
Ksci : Great product and great price!
Love it so far. First let me explain I have the large foodsaver with port for jars as well as the wine saver and both regular and large mouth jar adapters. Large unit lives in the garage due to limited counter and cabinet space - not worth the trouble! Wine saver is awesome (hand held, plug, works with jar adapters etc). I unfortunately dropped this unit and it has started working a bit wonky so I was looking for a replacement. I saw the fresh saver rechargeable and thought I would give it a try for the bargain price offered. The one I got does not have the stand. I charged it before use as directed and have used it to seal countless bags and jars since then. In 3 weeks or so I used it at least 50 times before it seemed to need a charge. I seal my chips, my coffee, my nuts etc - all in pint/quart/half-gallon jars (no tubing, just jar adapter and firm pressure). I sealed fruit and veggies for smoothies (I often only use 1/2 an apple or 1/4 avocado so lots of open/close) in the bags with no problems (and boy can it keep avocados long!). Even preserved bakery bread rolls!
Update: I have now recharged only twice more since it still seals so many bags per charge. I have noticed the ball jars don't seem to last sealed as long as with my foodsaver winesaver but for items I use often from jars this is not an issue. It really keeps fruits and veggies much longer than in a standard baggie so I am sold on this unit as a great buy for frequent use. Also to note re the bags. I thought some bags were defective but realized to my dismay that I was not always careful with the zipping closed; if I don't immediately see a bag vacuuming then I recheck the zip and reseal; no problem!
I just recharged and started again today and it seems fine. I noticed several reviews that said unit failed after charging so I didn't want to write until at least recharged once. Stay tuned. If it fails I will update.
James Plumb : Buy bulk and Save Money
Works great; works with Ziploc bags. People had a few issues with leaking 1st. Wrap you meat in freezer paper first then bag it. 2nd. Make sure the bag zipper is clean, clear and dry.
I froze 10lbs of Hamburger, 10lbs of Ground Pork, pork chops and 10lbs of chicken thighs. I bought the family packs.
I saved around $10. this way and have enough to last for the month. I will buy the deli containers later.
Also use the pint size and divide up single servings of cereal, cookies etc it will last longer.
Other bulk stuff flour, sugar etc and divide those up too.
Do your bulk shopping in 2-3 days, family meat pack are a few dollars cheaper than the sale adds for the same amount.
Do you shopping a day or two after a sale or holiday.
Record and learn the patterns at your local store; pay attention to the price before a sale and after a sale, learn when they mark up items before a sale or holiday and when they mark them back down again.
Brian : A single charge lasted a lot longer than I thought ...
A single charge lasted a lot longer than I thought it would on this. I actually use it to help remove excess CO2 from my home-brewed wine during the ferment stage without having to stir. Works well enough for that. I can't say how well it works to seal food as I've never used it for that purpose.
Sharon L. Akins : fantastic
I couldn't wait to use I was a little skeptical because I remember the Ziploc one and then it disappeared and then a friend of mine told me about this and I decide to try and it's well worth the money I did do a test trial with a free bags that were provided and there's hardly any freezer burn I'm glad you can use these in the freezer also I'll be using it more often as soon as we get things straight in the freezer but many thanks for the machine and I hope you don't discontinue it it's very handy for a single family of two or even one who doesn't do a big stuff like the other hundred dollar jobs
AE Osborne : I've dedicated a drawer in the kitchen to my food storage system
Awesome. I rarely write reviews, but wanted to for this product. It's really made a difference in how long I can keep my coffee, tortilla wraps and chips, bread, baked goods, and cheeses fresh.
mother.jeni : Perfect for extending life of foods.
I only bought this because it was $5 Lightening deal before Christmas. Had to buy bags for $8. But I am soooo glad I did. It really does extend the life of food. If your family is like mine, very picky, then you know how frustrating it is to buy lunch meat they love, only to have it get less than half eaten and go bad before they want to eat it again. This helps with that. As I read in another review. I use a thin plastic bag (you can get like 100 for a very small amount since they are not ziplocs) and put the food in it, then in the foodsaver bag. That way I can reuse them. I rinsed asparagus and cooked all but 1/4 lb. And packed it in one of the bags, used the vacuum and froze them. I had to re-vacuum about 2 week later, but they lasted, and NO freezer Burn! SOLD! I didn't get this to last forever, just to extend the life of food so we wasted less.
*Additional note: Make sure if you wrap food in plastic wrap leave open end and up towards seal, do not let plastic block the seal/valve or it will not suction properly. This is still going strong and since buying a package each of quart and Gallon bags I have not had to buy any. So happy. Still works like new.
Alaska Garden Girl : Super Easy to Use
I'm replacing my other one of these that finally quit after many years. I love this gadget. It's simple & easy to use, and inexpensive compared to a counter top vacuum sealer. I use it for small everyday vacuum sealing of food items that I get in large quantity at Costco. It probably wouldn't be the best for a large project of game meat or fish that you want to seal and freeze for the winter, but it's perfect for my use.
Robert : Easy, Effective and Convenient!
I used to have a similar product almost a decade ago, but the manufacturer stopped producing bags for the vacuum sealer. As soon as I saw this product, I ordered one. It is easy to use, removes air very effectively, and is very convenient. My only small criticism is that the device is powered by a rechargeable, non-replaceable battery and hence has to be charged. Directions tell you to charge it for 24 hours, then use it until fully discharged, and then recharge. I thought days of doing this with batteries were behind us!
William : Amazing Value
Saw a review of this product on YouTube and decided to try it for myself. Could not be happier! For the prince it's truly amazing. Very powerful, not to mention easy to use. Liked it so much I purchased it again as a gift for my parents. Bags are easy to find as well. Honestly for this prince point you won't find a better product. I could not recommend higher!
ECHO444 : Pretty handy item
I have a Foodsaver V3460 that I often use, it's great for storage preps and freezer items. I often used it for everyday use refridge items like lunch meat, etc. but this seems much more convenient. The V3460 is a true airtight seal but this product used with the Foodsaver "ziplock" style bag is not truly airtight. I Tested it out with a bag of sugar last night and it has a pretty decent seal but this morning the sugar was night packed together as well. I am still going to rate this 4 stars as it is pretty handy and I didn't expect a true airtight seal with this.
Sealer comes with an a/c charger and a few baggies.
J. Johnson : Highly recommend!
I love my foodsaver machine, and use it all the time for freezing stuff and sous vide. But it can be a huge PITA to pull it out regularly for general fridge items, even though it helps significantly to make food last longer. This is the perfect solution. I bought a pack of the gallon and pack of the quart bags and use this on most fridge stuff (cheese, lunch meat, lettuce, avocados, etc.). When possible, I generally leave the items in their own bag and then into the foodsaver bags so that they can be reused (because they aren't cheap). They are easily washed out and get multiple uses. I find it best to push out as much air by hand and then use this to finish it off, or else you are sitting there for a bit to get all that air out (it is definitely not speedy like the big foodsaver). It's a great little machine that has really made a difference in my kitchen. I can even get my husband to pull it out and use it!
Racwi06 : Multi uses. Bags and Jars.
This little workhorse gets used daily! Vaccuum packing sealed vaccuum bags or masom jars (with a lid sealing accessary) filled with fresh fruit, leftovers, soups/chile, nuts/candy or whatever you may need to keep fresh for a specified time.
☆(Not a substitute for canning foods)
RoxannBickel : Use it all the time
Love this product. We use the regular one when at home. I purchased this because of being able to continue to close the ziplock bag like ordinary bags. However one is able to take out the air each time keeping the food fresher for a longer. I took it on vacation with us because the food doesn't take up as much room in the cooler like the regular containers. I like that it is also rechargeable.
Ksci : Great product and great price!

trtmurphy : Handheld unit works just as well as my larger Foodsaver system!
I purchased this for about $18.00 to try as a replacement for my big Foodsaver system. The Foodsaver (with the rolls) is kind of a pain to use even with the bags instead of the rolls. I thought I would try this to see if I could save myself some aggravation and I was really impressed! It is small, easily accessible and from what I can tell it keeps the air out of my frozen meats just as well as the larger system! Now I use this every time for sealing the meat/fish etc. I get at Costco! No more having the meat go bad while it waits in the fridge for me to find the time/energy to drag out my larger system. Definitely recommend!
kevin k. : good for many uses
this works great with canning jars, as for the baggies, you get 2 and I put licorice in and checked it abut 5 days later and it did not keep the v vacuum seal. I wont take a star off for that because i have to try a few more times.
Amazon Customer : Waste of Money Does not work
Bought suction unit and 2 packs of bags. Unit will only evacuate about 80% of air in bag. Remove unit and bag re inflates as the round sealing valve on bag leaks. Made sure zipper was sealed properly but still leaked. Held sealed bag under water and bubbles came out of the round sealing valve on bag. All the bags I bought leaked!! Had to laugh, as I put some hotdogs in a cheap store brand zip lock bag, squeezed the air out by hand and zipped shut. It stayed SEALED. No air leaks and a tiny fraction of the price I paid for these high dollar useless bags. Don't get suckered in folks.
nancy : Saves money
But is not a miracle worker your food will still spoil just not as soon. They should out minerals in the bags to further assist
in resisting spoilage.
robert : works great
bought for a friend , arrived fast , works great, and much cheaper than the larger machine , and does a good job .......just don't forget to keep battery charged ...( it comes with a charger , which makes it great on trips as well
Janis : It was fantastic! I am so glad i bought this
I just received this yesterday. I charged it up 8 hours (as per instructions) and i used it for several things. My fresh vegetables in the fridge...and my bread and meat in the freezer (the first things to get freezer burn!). And it worked perfectly!!! I made sure the baggy was sealed tightly...and the vacuum pressed down tightly and flat on the counter...as per instructions...and it only took 30 seconds to totally shrink!!! It was fantastic! I am so glad i bought this. It is going to make my life so much easier! Worth every penny!
APro : My original review got it all wrong
UPDATE: I was wrong when I gave this product one star and wrote the review. I even asked Amazon for a refund. Didn't get it, though. Circumstances forced me to send it back AFTER the deadline. Having been stuck with the product, I decided to give it a fresh look. Kinda glad I did.
Turns out the round opening on this WILL cover and seal the oval sealing area on a FoodSaver container. It doesn't look like it will, it's a tight fit (you might have to jiggle a bit) and you'll need some downward pressure when sucking out the air, but it can be done. And now that I've had a chance to use it, it IS a lot more convenient than pulling out the tabletop machine to vacuum seal a bag (or container) or two.
I'd read some reviews complaining about poor battery life, too. I haven't had that experience. My machine is on its initial charge, I use it a couple of times a week, and the battery is still going strong.
Would I recommend this? Initially, no. Now, yes.
*****
ORIGINAL POST: FoodSaver containers have an OVAL opening where the suction device pulls out the air. This device has a ROUND opening. Won't seal any of my FoodSaver containers. WTF FoodSaver? I have to buy an adapter to use this thing??!!! This is going back to Amazon. To quote another reviewer, the 1 star is for the quality of the plastic.
Love New Gadgets : Very Handy Device
After having the large Foodsaver machines over the past 10 years or so, I decided to try this system. It is easy to use and works well to keep cheese very fresh over a few weeks (haven't needed to keep it longer). I just would like them to come out with freezer bags for this. As of now they are only for the refrigerator. Some people have used them in the freezer but I would be concerned that they are not strong enough for longer term storage.
It is a pleasure to be able to get in and out so quickly and easily without taking out my large Foodsaver each time. You must follow the directions exactly and be sure the 'zipper' is completely closed before removing the air. If you don't see the bag starting to pull closely against the food, that is your clue that the zipper isn't fully closed. I get about 15 to 20 one quart bag uses before the machine needs to be recharged. I just plug it in overnight and done. It takes up almost no room on the counter so it is always at the ready. The bags can be used over and over again.
I ordered extra quart size bags to have on hand:
RoxannBickel : Use it all the time

Cynthia : Works Great
I just used this for the first time last night with a 3lb roll of hamburger that I split into 3 sections. I didn't flatten the meat so it was still in the roll form and this product worked great in sucking all the air out of the bag. I have the quart size bags and purchased extras because the Food Saver only comes with 2. It is loud but does the job.
Bob O. : Failed to Hold a Charge...It never worked!
I've used this kind of handheld vacuum device with my FoodSaver system for years. I love it. BUT, the replacement unit I ordered recently WOULD NOT EVEN CHARGE THE FIRST TIME! It was a complete loss. Of course, I previously tossed my old unit that also wouldn't hold a charge. I'm not going to try to return it through Amazon.....too much bother. I'll get a new one directly from FoodSaver. I'll never order FoodSaver devices from Amazon again.
Diane : It really does work!
I have been using this little gem for 2 months now, and I love it! It is quick and easy to use. I find that my food DOES stay fresher much longer. I think this may have already paid for itself in the savings from not wasting food. With this, I can have a lot more variety in hand!
Eileen Keeney : Frustrating, I prefer a competing brands hand pump model
Sometimes it works well quickly, and other times it just does not seem to suck out the air. It usually takes me multiple tries to get it to actually suck the air out of the bag, pushing down very tight, and adjusting it.
However, I have a hand pump version (another brand) that I find far easier to use. With the hand pump I never seem to have trouble getting it positioned correctly, to pump the air out.
I did find that these bags do hold the seal well, for the first use, but do not continue to hold after opening and re-sealing.
I found this feature pretty much equal in both of the brands I tried.
Gregory H. : Does the basics at a fraction of the cost of the larger models.
Can't attest to the longevity of it as I haven't had it a long time, but so far so good. Slow to charge, but you can do a few bags once it is. I use the larger bags for things like cheese, which I buy in bulk and tend to go bad before I use them. A bit loud but expected on such an inexpensive device. Does suck out the air from the FoodSaver bags well - you may have to "jiggle" it around while using to get all of it out but it does work.
Julie Sands : I feel it is great used in conjunction with a large Foodsaver...
My spouse and I purchased and have used one of these for over a year now. We use ours in conjunction with our large Foodsaver unit that also marinates. Why then did we buy a handheld? We vacuum seal so much our handheld adapter that is on our large machine broke. The plastic piece that is inserted in the mason jar sealer attachment broke off from repeated wear in less than a year. Before that the top piece that comes off broke from wear. We purchased another hose adapter for our large machine but had to cut our old hose and lost a few inches to attach it. I found that is a weakness with the model type we bought. So to preserve it I decided to take the top piece off and JUST use it to seal our mason jars and vacuum seal bottles. I found the handheld type on Amazon and knew that adapters for them are sold separately and also come in the box with the plain white wine bottle top type sealers if these are purchased. That is how I found out the handheld type existed as when the bottle tops are purchased there is this strange looking adapter that says it works with some of the oldest Foodsaver model machines and also the rechargeable handheld device to be able to be used with the bags and the Foodsaver containers. This is a great device for that. I recommend any that were having trouble with wear of the handhelds over time on their large machines buy one of these type and just use it for bag and container sealing and use the other for things like mason jar sealing. I cannot really recommend using THE LARGE units for wine sealing unless the hoses on it are able to be taken off for cleaning easily. Mine do not come off easily and I found out unless more than one glass is poured from the bottle when vacuum sealing a little wine flows up into the tube. This is harmless and will not hurt, but the tube no longer looks pristine. It can be cleaned by filling a bottle or jar with rubbing alcohol and then vacuum sealing it so it sucks up the rubbing alcohol into the tube, then let the tube dry. I also use the marinator with mine (I eat all vegetarian but still marinate a lot, and know it is also great for quick homemade pickle making, to infuse the pickles quickly, makes the fermentation happen very quick, makes the quickest fermented pickles.)
I love my handheld so much, so easy to grab and when my spouse and I are in the kitchen he or I can move around while one of us is vacuum sealing a container for example. When we were just using our large machine for this there was a bit of crowding in our NOT huge kitchen. But our handheld solves that, we can both even vacuum seal at the same time! I thought about buying and giving them out to others, but I was worried if they did NOT already use a and own a large Foodsaver they might not be wowed by the handheld. It does not heat seal and is plain looking. I would be afraid it might get discarded. I am sure there are those that really love the handheld and for whatever reason they do not want a large one. I know as I have seen the reviews. But it depends on many factors. That is why I think it is best if the person really is interested in vacuum sealing they look at the new machines and think about it before purchasing. Then after getting used to a large machine I recommend adding one of these type handhelds if possible. These are also very handy to take to work to vacuum seal sandwich containers with snack or lunch leftovers that can be kept fresh in a work fridge (like parmesan cheese as a topping for example.)-Julie Sands
SPQR : Don't buy this - defective both times.
This seems like a great idea and when it works it is. Unfortunately, the batteries must be of a terrible quality as they do not hold a charge. I fully charge them, use the pump once and the next time I use it they are completely dead. This is the second one I bought with the same problem.
Jaysea : Does NOT hold a charge!
I should have listened to other reviewers. Worked fine initially, but after several months, with casual usage it no longer holds a charge long enough to vacuum out one bag. To use it I must first plug it in and let it charge for several hours. Then I must leave it plugged in while I use it, or the battery dies out before I finish a second vacuum bag. I thought FoodSaver was better than this. Good thing it's not expensive.

BaumFamilyof4 : Internal battery SUCKS
This was great for about 3-4 months... then even the charger couldn't char out enough to suck the air out of a small bag .. spend your money on a better brand/product.
Jade Kauffman : Heavenly results for the refrigerator
I bought this to give away at a Nutrition conference I'm going to be hosting. This one is for the refrigerator. The bags that go with it are not intended to be used in the freezer but the ones for the refrigerator have, in my case, kept a piece of cheese fresh for an entire year. This handheld comes with a charger base and this particular one also came with two sample bags and a bowl for refrigerator storage. Don't confuse this with the heat seal bags. The heat seal bags are for the freezer. This vacuum seal is strictly for the refrigerator. You can seal lunch meat, leftovers, cheese, or anything firm that normally goes in the refrigerator.
Cynthia : Works Great

D. L. : Great price and size, but no base to hold it
The price on this was great, but I was a bit disappointed that it didn't come with a base to hold the vacuum sealer when not in use.
I have a much older model that is corded and sits in a base. When I purchased some of the deli containers, I noticed this and figured it would be more versatile since it's not corded and take up less space.
I was glad to find that my old model worked fine with the deli containers and adaptor.
This is much smaller and it came with a plug-in charger.
I guess there's another model that comes with a charging base. I will probably just charge this smaller unit and store it in a drawer instead of trying to balance it on the countertop and keep my older corded model on the counter.
I love the tall canisters that let me store pasta and keep it fresh. I use my old handheld model for those and vacuum sealing in canning jars with the jar attachments. It's not likely that I will use the bags much due to the cost unless I use them for cheese storage.

Cm Collectorsvault : Maybe mines defective..
Works when it’s fully charged..problem is the charge only lasts a few hours. Maybe mines defective so I’m going to give it 3 stars because when it’s charged it works and seals fantastic but it’s frustrating having to wait for it to charge for 3-4 hours just to seal a half of a lemon or some cheese.
Christianlady : Wow! It works!
I always wanted a foid vacuum and i was able to get this one for $15 and it works great!!! Highly recommended! I dehydrate my own dog treats and they recommend using vacuum sealer and i shop at Sams becsuse i save money by buying in bulk. Sometimes stuff like cheese will go bad. But not anymore. The bags are inexpensive and so are touperwares. I bought marinater and hose but it did not work with this unit. This is a must have!!! I dont know how i went so long without one! Im thinking it would make great gifts for Christmas.
Zsa Zsu Pitts : Love this little thing!
Holds its charge very well and does a bang up job. No way you can remove the lid by hand after using this. Bragging to all the neighbors about it. Thank you for such a cool product.

Megan Howard : Love this! Saves me time and money!
This is much more convenient than my other big FoodSaver. I just charge it the night before I plan to grocery shop and it's ready for me to seal the meat I buy on sale so I can freeze it. It also does wonders for fresh produce. Check out my 6 day picture. Vacuum sealed on the left and in the package it came in on the right.
William Stohl : Great product
Great product. I use it for vacuum packing tobacco leaves to store until I can ferment them. Keeps the dry leaves as fresh as the day I packed them. I have used it to vacuum pack meats and other foods to store in the freezer, where they last for months. Did I mention it is a great product?
