Answer: The mylar bags can only be sealed, but it cannot be Vacuum. If you need to Vacuum.You must use bags with lines

Are the bags reuseable?
Answer: Yes. Clean them inside and out as well as you would clean a dinner plate then dry them , they are sanitized and totally dry, and then can be reused. But that you have to cut the bag to open it and each time yo re-use the bag it will be at least one-inch sorter. Eventually, the bag becomes too small to be of use but you can get a few reuses.

Can you use it with liquids? (Soups, broth, stews)
Answer: You can seal liquids and wet foods without problems as long as the sealing area is dry and clean (free of debris, oils). However, to vacuum and"seal those foods you'd need one of the models with a "Soft wet smoke", or freeze food before vacuuming.
Answer: Freeze liquids and seal away, before they melt obviously.

Answer: Hello, our vacuum packaging machine has a hose and a joint to draw the vacuum of the can, but the lid of the jar needs a special hole, please see the can lid on our picture for details.

what is the largest bag it can seal?
Answer: The widest bags (or continuous roll bags) this unit can seal in the normal manner are 11.5". However, you might be able to position and futz a bag around to make multiple seals though a bit wider by angling some of the seals, to create seals wider than 11.5". Or you could seal the top of a bag that's been folded (both corners folded down toward the center almost completely but leaving at least a small opening at top to allow suction if you want to seal *and* vacuum, then seal across that narrower folded area).

Can you use ziplock bags or anything besides the food saver bag that came with the purchase?
Answer: I would not recommend using anything but the foodsaver bags. The biggest reason is the foodsaver bages have air channels in them, so they can be vaccumed down. Regular plastic bags do not have these air passages, and won't vaccum down. It may also dammage the heat seal strip on the foodsaver. Hope this helps.

Answer: Yes, but unless the contents puncture the bag it should work just fine.

Answer: I freeze cooked items regularly, except for potatoes. Have frozen cooked stews with potatoes and they get kinda mushy. Pastas seem to work well and better than dishes with potatoes. Frequently freeze cooked slices or pieces of meat like turkey, chops, etc.

Answer: Both can be used, the individual bag is also cut out from a roll of bags

Answer: Lots of people use the jar sealer accessory to vacuum-seal in regular glass canning jars, and love it. Some of them use jars more than they use the bags since they won't squish foods, and can be used just to extend shelf life of foods even in the fridge, etc.

What about sealing items such as breads, buns, muffins etc?
Answer: You can immediately stop the vacuum process when vacuum packaging delicate foods by pressing the Stop button at any time during the vacuum process. This will seal the bag and prevent crushing delicate items such as bread, cookies and pastries.

The only thing about this little Christmas time deal is the locking & releasing mechanism are harder to engage & disengage but I have nothing to compare it too. It may just be how these machines work. Overall I am quite happy with it and for a deal of the day at $40.00 I can't complain.
