Answer: 3/4 ounce is the perfect all around weight for water 15 to 60 feet deep. I switch the hooks to a size 4 or size 6.

Answer: I’d have to say the hook is probably a size 4 on the 3/8 oz spoon. You can easily switch it out. I don’t like the stock hooks, they’re too heavy gauge.

Answer: This is an amazing lure. I caught a lot of fish with this lure. Highly recommend for angler.

Had a Mr. Champ slab spoon break off while surf fishing off the coast of Louisiana, so tied on on of these 1/2 oz Cotton Cordell spoons I got on sale at Academy. Tied their loop directly onto my leader, no split ring. Caught as many speckled trout as my husband, and the biggest of the day on this spoon. Great erratic action, it moves so much as you retrieve it that it feels like you have a little fish on your line. I did feel it was harder to keep fish on the line with this vs. Mr. Champ, though. I don't think the hook itself is as good, eventually will switch to an aluminum treble. Great lure for the price.

These Cotton Cordell CC Spoons are great for so many reasons. For starters they are so inexpensive ($ 2.99 for a 2 pack of the 3/4 oz). Invariably you may occasionally lose one in the rocks but 9 out of 10 times all you have to do is position the boat above the snag and give a couple vertical shakes of the rod and the lure is free. Losing one is only a $1.50 loss so just tie on another. Also, they are very effective vertically jigged from a boat for reservoir striped bass and large mouth bass when they are feeding on shad on flats or creek channels. Also, the treble hook is 2x strength and in case you hook a huge catfish or huge striped bass there is no chance of the hook straightening out. If you dont like the stock treble hook you can just switch it out to a lighter gauge hook or even put a feathered treble hook. My favorite feature about this lure is the eyelet which is fused to the head of the spoon. Other brands of spoons have a drilled hole and often the hole has burrs which can cause your line to cut. The eyelet on the Cotton Cordell is smooth and wont damage your line.

Sherian : This lure mimics a minnow and you can cast this lure out of sight. It really flies.

Have not caught any fish on this lure as of yet. Love the action of it though, and should catch fish wherever there is small baitfish being consumed by predators. The not catching fish isn't the lure's fault, it is the fisherman. That would be me. lol.

After having some recent success with this spoon, I ordered it as an add-on item from Amazon at a good price. Although they failed to get it here by the promised date, the package did arrive late and it contained two spoons instead of one (which is not exactly apparent in the item description). This lure can be vertically fished like a jig (my preferred method) or fished simply with a standard cast & retrieve method.
