I have tried this bait mulitple times now and, even though it is Summer, I have been disappointed with the results, as there have been no bites at all, not even nibbles. I am hoping that, once fall sets in, this will change. We shall see.

Haven't used them yet. I am sure like any baits they will work brilliantly in some waters and not so much in others. It is what it is and we all buy this knowing that.

3rdGen : Great for planted rainbows in CA

Most of the trout in CA are planted by the state. There are natural brown trout and native rainbows, too. And, don't forget the smaller Golden Trout. If you are fishing with kids and you want them to catch fish, I recommend this bait highly. Use a # 12 or #10 egg hook with 2 or 3 pound leader. Pierce the egg with the hook and allow the barb of the hook to stick out slightly. Why? If you bury the barb of the hook into the egg, you will sometimes miss a hook-up because the egg will slide out of the fishes mouth (sometimes). In the Sierras, this bait works every time for me. Use the chartreuse color !!

Steven H : One of the most reliable cheese bait.

Lot's of trout fishing around where I live, we are around 7500 feet in elevation so there's not many other fish. We fish primarily from the shore of local lakes - Worms and cheese seem to have done the best. I've tried a few spinners and lures but nothing competes with this if you just want to catch a fish, and don't have a boat.

Trout seem to take this flavor the quickest, usually 5-10 minutes and we have a bite, and usually a hooked fish!

We use size 14 treble hooks with about 2 of these nuggets, and some Berkley scent to boot.
