A standard 9 volt battery does not fit . Is there a special type of 9 volt?

Answer: 9 volt battery futs fine, you may have it in upside down, contacts are down inside the handle.

Answer: I had to put a penny on the non terminal end of the battery before closing the battery door in order for the battery terminals to make contact.

is it accurate

Answer: It's very close within a 1/4lb. Like most though; a few hard drops and it will be less accurate . I keep mine in my boat bag.

Answer: Define accurate. No scale is 100% dead on. It is pretty accurate but if you are talking for tournaments then use the same type and brand that they use. There can be slight differences in ounces between scales based on brand, type, age and usage.

Answer: Mine wiggles but just slightly.

Answer: I believe since it has a scale inside there is a bit of play...find yourself a known weight and check the scale for accuracy. As long as it's accurate and doesn't affect operation...good fishing!!

Answer: It does not have a tape measure.

Answer: No tape measure. Weight only. I own a nesting sanctuary and enlist duck and turkey hunters to do the physical work that I cannot do. We use this to weigh turkey and geese. We have use a ruler or tape measurento measure spurs, beards, wing spreads. That said it requires to be held straight up and down for an accurate read.

Answer: As in - do I even emerge it in water? Well, not on purpose, but when weighing fish that are in our lives well, the scale has been splashed on, and it is still working. I have had mine for over 10 years, use it in fishing derbies, and it is pretty accurate with official scales. Bought this recent order entry for our son. He had one prior to this one, but it had manufacturer problems with it. But for your answer, I've never emerged might even in water,

Answer: I don't really know, the biggest fish I've caught and weighed was 17.75 lbs. But the main reason I bought it was to get the fish out of the water........

Do not waste your money gripper works well but the scale just powered on and dd nothing went fishing after catching a pike the screen turned all kinds of colors. Terrible product from Berkley and for the price you pay.

Terrrbear : Poor quality and big disappointment

As soon as I opened the package, a sheer pin fell out and the grip wouldn’t work. There’s no way to keep the pin in place. I consider this to be junk and it has been returned. I expected better from Berkley. Thanks to Amazon for providing great customer service.

I love this product. So much fun especially for the really toothy Lingcod. We used it a lot and tried it against other weighing methods and found it to be very accurate. Off by less then 1/4 of a pound in a salmon tournament. Solid design and holds up well in the salt water. Good price and easy to use, feels solid.

Works well, scale seems accurate enough. However I went on a couple saltwater fishing trips and neglected to clean it after each one ... got noticeable rust spots and a bit stiffer operation. Nothing that a bit of WD40 didn't fix, but I'd definitely recommend making sure you clean it well after each trip (especially saltwater). Overall very satisfied, the grippers work well and are solid.

I purchased this item because I tag fish and weigh them. The scale was far from being accurate. It was off by more than 10 oz. If you are looking for a lip gripper then it works well, but why would you want to the spend the extra money for the weigh feature if doesn't work properly. I had to return this item. I have owned the Berkley lip gripper without the weigh feature and it does the job.

Not worth the cost as it gives different readings on same fish. We weighted fish from 2# to 6#' on several fish 3 and 4 times and never got the same weight on the same fish. The reading varied 2 or 3 oz. everytime. I would not reccomend for tourement fishing.

Great way to handle all types of fish. The scale is accurate, +/- 2 ounces, and the lip grip holds the fish until release.

When I first purchased mine it worked but was inconsistent, the same fish would weigh different almost every time. Brought hot back out the following season and wouldn’t turn on, got new batteries and nada, awful customer service. Very expensive - other much more reliable mechanical and digital out there - this scale is basically expensive garbage
