Answer: Get one. As always, depends on the lake, the weather, the wind,, etc , etc. It is a basic for my bait and tackle. Probably 4 to 4 and a half inches. Good action for a lake or large pond. Can't remember exact size. Just know it works given the right situation at the right time like any bait. Should have the exact size on the description of the item on Amazon.

Answer: Yes to both, depends on how quickly you retrieve it. If you crank it quickly it will go down to 2-3 feet. If you bring it in VERY slowly, like we do for stripers at night, it stays on top.
Answer: It is a type of top water lure. It is categorized as a "jerk bait." It floats at rest. If you lightly flip your wrist it will dive just an inch or two. If you retrieve it steadily it will dive to the three foot level. If you stop the retrieve it will slowly surface again. Take advantage of all this and you'll put a fish in the boat. Good Luck!
