Can you put these on a plain hook or does there need to be something else on your hook like a rubber worm?

Answer: Hi,

Answer: I've used these for years. It seems that most fish that take this bait hold on to it longer allowing for a better chance of a good hook set. I have used it for panfish (bream) when they are on the beds spawning, with only the nibble on the hook for bait...very effective! I also add them to the hook on tube or hair jigs when I fish for crappie, again with good success. Chartruse is my color of choice! Believe me, they work!

Answer: I would think so, but I always put them on a small crappie jig

How long do these last before dissolving or losing their scent ?

Answer: They will fall off the hook very easily, would take a while to dissolve.

Answer: A long time. It stands a better chance of being eaten off first

What hook size would you recommend using on this for bluegills?

Answer: I use a size 8. It covers the hook very well.

Answer: Anything up to a # 1 Aberdeen will work

I use these on jigs for crappie and sunfish. The area I live does not allow anglers to use live minnows for bait, so Crappie Nibbles give jigs a scent that attracts fish. In the water they start to dissolve, leaving a scent trail for fish. If the fish are really aggressive I can sometimes get by without them, but when the fish are indecisive they really do make a difference. Many anglers around here won't go fishing for panfish without them. They are like a religion around here. One year during the spring one of the Cabela's employees told me they could sell them at $20 a jar.

The one drawback is fresh out of the jar they don't stay on the hook too long. The solution is to leave the lid off the jar until they start to get rubbery. Then they will stay on much longer.

In my experience, color does not seem to make a difference, but I always go for chartreuse if it is available. Otherwise white. I avoid the ones with glitter, though. The glitter is not mixed into the bait like you would expect. Instead it's just a coating the nibbles are rolled around in. It falls off the second they hit the water and the glitter gets EVERYWHERE. You, your boat, your vehicle and your gear will look like you spent the weekend in Vegas. The regular ones seem to work just as well, so I stick with those.

Used at our local lake. Caught about 30 crappie over a 3 hour period in late evening. Lot of fun! Easy to use! Putting two at a time on a crappie hook with float yielded best results. Kids had a blast (so did the adults)

First time using this tonight at the pond in our subdivision. Caught a Crappie on my first cast. On my second cast I had a nibble and lost it. On the next two cast, two more fish. My daughter was with me and she caught 10 fish in total, one was a very nice sized bass. Within about 45 minutes we caught a total of 13 fish. It could have been more but I stopped because my daughter was catching them so fast that I didn't have time to fish myself as I was taking them off her hook all the time.

We fish this pond all the time and before this we might catch 1 or 2 fish each time we go. We had hit on almost every cast. My daughter could have more but she is still learning how to set the hook and detect when she has a bite. Wish I had tried this stuff a lot sooner. Made for a very nice father daughter evening of fishing.
