And The Winner Is..... 2024

fishing user avatarSouth FLA reply :

!Congratulations to Cliff Pace!

His lead of 7lbs was too much for the field to overcome and he only brought 4 fish and only needed 8lbs and 4 ozs, which he passed by 4lbs.

My heart goes out to Hank Cherry, the video of him losing the Hawg boat-side left the crowd and him speechless! Brandon is the real deal, so far so fast, looking forward to seeing him flourish, regardless of whether he sleeps in the back of his Toyota Tundra, lol!

fishing user avatarOkeechobeeAngler reply :

That video if Cherry was heart breaking. Congrats to Cliff Pace. I don't think he smiled during any of it.

fishing user avatarTrapperJ reply :

Man Pace get excitited brother you just won the biggest bass tourney and 1/2 a million!

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

Who is Cliff Chase?

Chevy's brother???????

fishing user avatarFelix77 reply :

Great Bassmaster Classic.  Filled with all kinds of stories.  Pace pulled it off even with the rough day.  Besides the Cherry oops there was the Day 2 mech issues of Ike.  Makes you wonder what kind of weight he would have had in that hour lost.

That's fishing though.  Great win by Cherry.

fishing user avatarTeal reply :

Good classic. great top 5. Those guys were far and away on the fish mmore than anyone else.

Too funny I was thinking Chase as in the field was chasing him!

I don't know if he even noticed that he won...

Haha I know my wife and I are like does he even know he won?

fishing user avatarWill Wetline reply :

Cliff Pace said he loves competitive bass fishing and now that he's won the most coveted trophy I wish he were able to loosen up a bit and maybe even let out a short victory yelp! This winner looks tormented!

Hey, I'm genuinely happy he was able to maintain his focus and land those two small but critical fish late in the day.

Well done, Cliff Pace!

fishing user avatarGotfishyfingers? reply :

Ya, Palaniuk is the real deal at such a young age!!! He's earned some stripes already winning the federation nation championship and an Elite tourney last year. He's got a HOT sister to. :bushy-browed: I think everyone watching thought the same about Pace. DUDE YOU JUST WON THE CLASSIC :respect-059: SCREAM JUMP UP & DOWN. SMILE FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS AT LEAST!! :Idontknow:

fishing user avatarTrapperJ reply :

Ohhhh I know what happened Cliff thought he had to pay $500k since he won!

He had two killer days can't argue with that, and was able to stay alive on the third.

Hope the classic or more events come to Tulsa in the future loved having this in My backyard.

Somewhere secretly Pace is smiling. I have no evidence to support this though. The shock might get you though. It's not every day that you win anything let alone that.

fishing user avatarpapajoe222 reply :

Mark Pierce, who was my pick as the dark horse to win it all, ended up with big fish.  Congrats to him and all the entrants fishing a classic for the first time.  We're all looking to seeing your names in future events.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Pace is pretty well known for not letting anything getting him worked up, apparently winning the Bassmaster's Classic is included on that list. It will  be great to see the whole show on TV to see all the stuff we couldn't catch on the water this weekend.

Had a friend tell me about Ike going all batt **** crazy on some dog barking at him. That otta make for great TV.

fishing user avatarTNBassin' reply :

I love Ike's meltdowns. Guy pretty much wears his heart on his sleeve, and despite being heavily sponsored, he still seems to be himself.

Ike is that guy that always gets caught doing stupid stuff. He makes for great TV. Sometimes watching a dude fish is boring as hell. Waiting for someone to flip out, go 10-8 on a dog or jump out of his boat after a giant smallie makes it worth while

fishing user avatarTNBassin' reply :

Lol. I remember him hooking a huge bass and getting it hung up under the boat and having a melt down. He kicked the trolling motor, cussed, ended up freeing the fish, rips his jersey off WHILE lipping the bass lol. My wife watched that video and was like wow, are you related? Lol.

fishing user avatarrockchalk06 reply :

That's classic. I'm same way during a bball game so I understand

fishing user avatarRangerphil reply :

One thing I learned this year is that the war room is awesome! I watched every minute of the online coverage all weekend and it was awesome! I learned alot about jerkbaits and how fish move and what they do in cold water. Very informative!

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

First - Congrats to Cliff Pace for making it happen on the Biggest Stage in Bass Fishing ~ !

There are always many stories surrounding this tournament, and this one was no different.

They all made this a very interesting and entertaining event to watch and follow.

I found myself really looking forward to "the Next Day" of the competition.

One facet of it all that I found interesting was the vast difference regarding personalities of each of the anglers that finished at or near the top.

Mike Ike for instance as compared to Cliff Pace.  Mike has been the topic of many a conversation here and else where most discussed his "passion" for the sport which he is very willing to display, and you know what I mean.

And then there is the manner in which Cliff P goes about his business.  Appearing to be in complete control at all times and never appearing to let his emotions / passion get the best of him.  This demeanor works for him quite well and may have been what enabled him to cruise to win the Bassmaster Classic 2013.

To me - he made it look easy.

A-Jay

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

Maybe he was doing all he could to hold back tears, I know I would probably cry if I was holding that trophy. That would be a total life chaning event for this guy more than anyone could ever know and the emotions would be HIGH.

fishing user avatarbuckeye12 reply :

Maybe he was just stunned or drained. You would think he at least could've smiled.

Even guys that have won 2 or more break down and tear up some. I've met guys that have just lost a child in a horrible way and won't shed a tear or show a bit of emotion. Some people are better than me.

Heck, I win a free ticket in a scratch off, I get as giddy as a schoolgirl lol

Its all relative, no one is better than you because of X Y, or Z, especially when it comes to emotion. Cliff's name should be "Cool handed Cliff"

fishing user avatarIntroC reply :

I agree. Thats just Cliff being Cliff. If he would have started yelling and screaming and basically being out of character it probably would have been awkward as heck for all involved. We 're all wired different and thats the way it should be.

During the press conference one of the reporters asked him if "Christmas is extremely boring at his house" which I thought was a bit out of line. Cliff gave a good answer to the question basically saying that this is his livelyhood and he takes it very seriously.

fishing user avatarBass Dude reply :

I get more excited than Cliff when I beat my friends!!!  You can't tell someone how to act, but personally I would have liked to see some sort of emotion.  It was kind of uncomfortable watching him when the confetti was falling.   After he held the trophy up for about 2 seconds, he was just standing there.  Even when he did his "victory lap" he didn't wave at the crowd.  It just kind of awkward.

A previous post said that he doesn't let emotions get the best of him.  That's great for competition, but once it's over....let it out!!!

But that's the way he rolls I guess. For all we know...he could have walked out of the arena after his press conference and screamed his lungs out!!!

fishing user avatarjignfule reply :

Congrats to Pace, he's first two days were too much to overcome. Palaniuk, all of Idaho was pullin for ya, congrats. (hope ya got a nice mattress for the bed of the Tundra)
