Some ponds around me are being stocked within the past month and the ponds get a lot of pressure with one set up and it's just a hook and bobber with powerbait, wax worms, or corn. What are some possible rigs or lures that could work. Weather lately 40's and sunny in northwest Ohio area
Try the opposite - what basically amounts to a Carolina rig (no beads necessary) and fished on the bottom. Powerbait trout dough floats, so use a light hook, and the bait ball will float off the bottom. Your other option is to try a moving bait, though it can be tough stockies that are used to trout chow.
Im just a noob when it comes to stocked trout, caught my first last week, that being said. Three of us were using in-line spinners Mepps size 1&2, Wordens Roostertails 1/8 &1/6 sizes. We were catching them left and right multiple days different stocked lakes. Here is my very first one I ever caught and the in-line in its mouth used Stradic 1000, SC Avid 8' ML/M rod 8# nanofil

I thought inline spinners would work but I wasn't very sure
A slowly reeled 1/8oz little cleo works well for me. If they like stuff under a bobber, try a micro jig instead of natural bait. Those are the 2 main rigs I use for stocker trout and it works well.
either one of these.... the black with yellow dots and gold blade is my "secret" weapon!! 1/8 oz is my go-to. literally bought another of the black yesterday to replace one i lost this past sunday catching brown and brook trout.

These two colors in 1/16oz are also my go to lures.
countdown rapalas work well as well
trout magnets bounced off the bottom or under a float
live minnows
outside of fly fishing I prefer spinners as my go to bait
there is one called a spin-e-miny they are deadly but they do not hold up for more then 5 or 6 fish
mepps comets work as well

i swear man, these 2 catch any small fish i want to target. my dad didn't believe me until the other day when i was catching 3 fish for every 1 he caught! later on he asked me where to buy one... LOL

I don't know what it is but I never have good luck with Panther Martin's
I use almost every other brand of inline spinners
guess I will have to give these a try again
I will just have to leave all my other spinners at the house
Any luck, like no bites? They're probably the best, slow running spinners out there. Great for keeping your bait high in the column when swinging a quartering cast in light current.

I have ten other colors but 90% of the time I use these two. My single favorite trout lure is a rooster tail I got on clearance for a dollar. It has a propeller style blade that spins no mater how slow you retrieve it. The propeller blade must be discontinued because I never found another one. I'll cry when I lose that lure

Panther martins are my favorite spinners. just feel fast enough for the blade to spin and you will catch fish. They fish deeper than rooster tails or meps so you may have to get a size smaller than you normaly fish
1/24 rooster tails in BROWN are a great stocker lure.
If you know where they are, my favorite is a 1/64 jig head with a gulp mini earthworm on it. I mostly do this in creeks but there is a lake near me that gets stocked. The trout run to the logs and stumps, so I just toss my little worm jig right next to the stump and jig it. They can't resist it.

For the record I fish rivers and streams
i will just have to give the panther martins another try
They're really good for slow retrieve during low flow. And fall run brownies are stupid for anything that resembles a bumble bee pattern.

That's the one. This would have saved me from going swimming to retrieve the lure a few times this past season.
I have quite a few white, black, and brown ones also. They are one of my favorites for a specific stream I fish so I stocked up a few years ago. They definitely catch fish!
Try the Ned rig, it doesn't catch very many but it catches the biggest fish in the area. And I'm not the only one who uses the Ned rig to catch huge trout, there's an Midwest finesse article on bass fishing for trout. I also have seen videos of bluebasser catching some very nice trout on the Ned rig.

thanks for the tips
I have mentioned this one before, and I don't see anyone posting about it (must be a local only kind of lure since its made in WV) but Joe's Flies are the absolute go to lure for stocked trout around here. Great prices and great durability.

I have found them in all major stores with fishing departments in the pittsburgh area (although I rarely find the silver blade ones) but I think that outside of the area you may need to order online.

Shhhh...
I fish the same community lake that Ned himself does his "bass fishing for trout", on. That's where those videos are from. Ned rig trout will give your reflexes a serious test too because they hit it and spit it so fast that if you're not on your toes, you'll miss them. It's also nice because you get lots of incidental fish in the process. I've caught smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, yellow perch, drum, and white bass just from that lake fishing for trout with a Ned. One guy even caught a carp on one while we were out there last fall.
Some great responses to your question for sure. I fish "stockies" a few weeks each spring, just to work out the kinks in my fishing arm. I have the best success slow rolling a 1/16 oz. ball head jig, dressed with a 2" straight tailed plastic trailer. Have caught a ton of rainbows & browns on this "crappie" set-up. And it's a ton of fun on UL besides!
If you get the single hook original rooster tail it will take care of must of your snagging issues. Cabelas carries then in 1/16 sizes, you can order from the brand website for other sizes with still single hook...good bye snags

Check your local rules regarding the stinger treble included. In my state they are not legal to use on Great Lakes tribs. It's easy enough to snip off, so not a big deal.

no joke on testing your reflexes! i had them "hitting and spitting" a 4" senko on me last weekend while fishing for bass. they were spit it just as fast as they hit it, i only managed to land 1, but he was a nice one!
