Hey Guys Ive been Restoring this 87 Hydra Sport since last Sept, paid 200 for boat and trailer , 500 on a 89 Erude 90hp that had just been rebuilt , but had been in the salt .. pretty bad shape on the steel parts
Ive rebuilt the boat from ground up, Stopped work on it in March too busy to get to it .. Since Aug 1 been working on it about every day ..
I have maybe 2 weeks till its back on the water.
Below are picks from day 1 to present .. still need to finish wiring , carpet, and remount motor and cables
sweet little project.
Dude!
Very nice work. Some folks just don't realize just how much work is involved in putting an older boat back right. Looks like it was done the way it should have been.
What kind of primer did you use on the outboard motor?
Like the steering wheel BTW. 8-)
zinc chromate, was used on it first , then nason epoxy primer over everything. I sanded the whole motor. urathane base clear to paint it all.
Here is pics of what the motor orig looked like, I found a mid section from a v4 that was near perfect, the orig motor didnt have trim tilt, the new mid did, but was removed, I found a trim motor on ebay for 100 bucks, painted and mounted it in the new mid, removed the old motor and foot, re installed on new mid after replacing the water pump.
Then painted.
My son and wife gets first ride lol ..
Dude, you have more patience than I will ever have. Nice work! Boat looks great.
Wow! Nice job on the motor resto!!
Who did your decal work?

I second that remark. I wish I had the time/patience and know how. You sir, are a much more talented man than I. My hats off. That boat looks great

I designed the decal, a local shop just a few miles away did the printing and cut out on it.. Paul's Sign Shop the do wraps signs etc .. great work and cost was 27 bucks.
The Hydra sport logo on the side of the boat in the pic with my wife and son, was done by another local shop Billy T's sign shop they had a metallic flake silver that Paul's didn't have so let them do it .. Pauls did my trailer logo with flames.. when I get around to painting the trailer
Sweet boat man, make sure to take a lot of pics when you get ready to get it on the water.
I'm sure everyone here would like to see them.
Awesome work man. Way to go. I cant wait to see this thing completed.
that really is a sweet job. id tow that thing around even when im not going fishing.
New front switch plate
Hey all much progress since last post .. just a few more lil things.. wiring wise and will be ready to take to lake and do a test run
here is pics
I have 3 letters for you up to this point:
W.O.W
The seats look great. I just put the same seats(Same color) in my Skeeter. I did not have room for the fold down center seat but wanted it.
Ok, who did that great electrical switch plate and how much did it cost?

The first one and the second one , both done by a local shop Apollo Laser Engraving www.lasertribute.com the first one with the G Loomis Fish I picked the graphics in a hurry .. but decided I wanted to use my own art work instead so I whipped up the Bass in about 3 mins he converted it to a format he could run threw the laser engraver .. and I gave him the font to use .. Vic is his name and he is a great guy .. He can do yours if you want .. just make sure you tell him that I referred you Sean from North River
My cost was well lets just say .. you would be paying around 50 for that panel
Absolutely amazing! It's not often to see someone actually pop the cap and get that deep into it. I like what you've done with that ol' girl.
What really caught my eye was the gold accent rings on the instrument cluster. Goes great with that deep red color.
Great job!
You did such a great job on that boat brother It looks brand new
I want to do that to my ranger so bad very nice if u have more pics of her out side and did you do anything with the trailer
WOW! what a nice job.You should be proud.

Trailer still has work to be done and new wheels, the old wheels are chrome but rusting.. Im trying to find some mag wheels I like If I could / can make it work I want to take of the 14" wheels and put on at least 16" wheels, but I prob will have to remove the fenders and do a lil chop and weld to make that work
Nice job. I just sold the exact same boat for $1200. I also like them switch plates.

I'd be willing to bet it wasnt like mine lol .. new every thing .. Id have to have 6-7 k to sell this one ;D
for sure I would say more like maybe 8 it looks brand new and older boats are just as good as new ones just not a lot of bells and whistles
still preform the same
and urs looks brand new
It's really a labor of love. I did one several years ago and I would think long and hard before I decided to try it again. I've already said it, but I'll say it again: You have way more talent, patience, money, and desire than I have at this time. The boat looks great!
Simply amazing!!! Well done!

Nope, it didn't look like that when I sold it. The wife shut me down on the project. With me buying another boat she didn't want 3 boats around so I sold the Hydra-Sport and the Glasstream so I could get the Javelin. Either way you did a fantastic job on that boat and you didn't do it half @$$ed like some projects I see.
