I bought this out of season but am very impressed with it's appearance and quality. I bought lures with size 10 hooks. They will be great for trout and blue gill. I plan to purchase size 8 for bass later.

These flies are pretty good for the price. Bass in Florida seam to love the Ghost Shad size #8! The only complaint is that after a day of fishing the paint will come off of the popper body.... To fix this, I just puf a coat of brush on super glue as protectant.... takes 5 mins and you got a sold fly for bass.

Michael J. Edelman : A favorite lure for panfish

One of my favorite ways to catch bluegills and similar panfish is with tiny poppers like these, cast over spawning beds behind a casting bubble using spinning gear, or on a short leader using fly fishing gear. Toss the popper over the beds, wait a bit, give it a tug, wait, give it another tug. If there are fish nearby you’ll probably get a strike on the first tug. When they hit, you’ll think you’ve got a 5 lb bass and not a 12 ounce bluegill.

These poppers are very inexpensive and very well dressed- maybe even excessively so, but it probably doesn’t hurt. They come in a wide variety of colors, and although color isn’t terribly important in this style of fishing, it’s nice to have options. The hooks are sharp, and most of the eyelets are open. While it’s too late and too cold to fish them now, I’m looking forward to trying them out next spring.
