Answer: For this price it is extremely unlikely they were tied in the USA. Most USA based tyers sell their flies for 2.50-4.50 a peice

Answer: Hello. If you are referring to picture 6 (the Box 1 fly pattern, quantity, and size detail picture), then picture 7 is the same for Box 2. They each have an identical 24 compartment plastic box, but each have different flies (as seen in pictures 6 & 7). Picture 1 is both boxes packaged together on top of each other. Hope this helps.

Answer: I always fish barbless so I can’t be 100% certain (because all my fly’s are this way), but I don’t think so. However, a very simple pinch with some hemostats works very well and you can pinch your barb easily if you don’t want to take. I have tested these on the water and feel they are at minimum the same quality you will receive from a fly shop fly (which honestly kills me to say, support your local shop guys!) but was a great way to get a large assortment and get to know what to buy in future trips to the local shop.

Answer: I’m 99.9% sure they aren’t, but this is a great all around starter set and you don’t need to get all caught up on the best new thing. These WORK just fine. Add some split shot and save 3x the price. If you’re a more advanced angler and looking for high end gear this isn’t the deal for you. If you’re newer to the sport or like burning through cheaper gear this set is KILLER

Can you use this with a spinning rod set up (water bobber)?

Answer: These are true quality flies, tied for fly fishing , which means one would normally use a fly rod, fly line and leader, very different from a spinning rod. This fly selection is great, and I highly recommend it, for someone who wants to start into fly fishing . I would not recommend it for a spinning rod set up. I hope this helps. Tony

Answer: Actually, the flies are tied. Not sewn. I have found that most sellers will state where the flies are made. And, yes, many of them are tied, by young Chinese boys and girls working by solitary candle light, in a cold, grass hut with a mud floor somewhere in the most remote and God-forsaken reaches of China. But, that is to our benefit in that the prices are ridiculously low.

Answer: What they want to read is those were tied locally in USA by a descendant of an ancient immigrant from Europe looking for a new life... probably yes... USA was built by immigrants!!!

One thing I don't like about getting things online is that when you receive them it's a product wrapped in 5 plastic bags bubble wrap and a box. Not with these guys. Just a little bubble wrap (reusable) and a simple brown paper band wrapped around both boxes which you can see in the picture. It's like they understand where the plastic could end up and wanted to protect our water ways, hmmmm. As for the product it's self, I love it. The cases are well made. All the flies will end up stuck in the top of a tree or the bottom of a lake before the cases fail. The flies themselves are also well made and exactly what you want to see. And the price at just over $1.50 a fly is more than acceptable. No doubt in my mind I will be a returning customer.

Get outside, protect our public lands, and conserve all we can.

Generally a good value set and I like the information chart with hook sizing chart and basic knot tying guide. Excellent variety. However, some flies were missing. Amazon support agreed to ship me a replacement set, and the replacement set was just fine, so maybe a one-off? Contacted the company too and they were very responsive.

I wanted a good foundational set of flies that would be applicable on pretty much any stream. To buy them all at a local fly shop would cost a fortune, and tying them myself is presently beyond my ability. Unlike a lot of other vendors on Amazon, Ventures Fly Co sells well-tied flies in real patterns and appropriate sizes. The Premium Assortment (122 flies) is a tremendous value and makes me wonder why I would ever want to tie my own.

If you're preparing for a trip, getting started in fly fishing, or just looking to replenish your fly box, I can't recommend these enough.

I do wish they used barbless hooks, but given the value I have no problem just smashing the barb.

I always get nervous when buying online without actually seeing a product first. Considering what hand tied flies cost locally $2 to $5 a piece, and I'm a beginner when it comes to tying my own.
