Using this as my light weight rod for trout. Super sensitive and have only missed a couple of fish due to human error. Giving it 4 stars because one of the eye guides got loose. Easy fix, used clear epoxy and fixed it right back on. Other issue is the reel will loosen up if you don’t tighten it after each use daily.

JDM : Don’t waste your money.

Bought it to travel With but never used it until after the return policy. Big mistake. It’s clunky and cumbersome. Hard to cast. And the eyes broke off. Wasted money and can’t return it.

skeenzy : Add super glue to your order

As soon as I opened the box, the eyelet on the tip came off. I glued it, works fine. After maybe 15 casts the second eyelet began to move around, super glue fixed that too. I packed the rod in my suitcase to fly from Indiana to Florida. Held up well catching some whiting in the surf. I’d still buy this again.

I'm not much of a fisherman (yet), but this rod is certainly good enough for me. I got it specifically for the telescoping feature. It's a 7-foot rod that collapses down to about 18 inches so you can stow it or stick it in your tackle bag. When you expand it to go fishing, you do have to take care to line up the segments properly so the eyelets all match, and you have to be certain that they are all pulled firmly into place. In that same vein, be gentle when you collapse it again so that you don't crack the segments. My only mild criticism is that the handle segment occasionally loosens when I am casting. It's not really a problem; just a little annoying. Overall, I like it a lot!

Just received my 2nd order today. I liked my first pole so much that I ordered the next 2 sizes up (the 9.9 ft SWORD-Rod&Reel-3000 Combo and the 11.9 SWORD-Rod&Reel-GT4000V Combo). I'm really happy with the 2 poles but I didn't receive the correct Reel for the 11.9 ft pole as it should've been the 4000 and I instead, received 2 3000 reels. Disappointed that I'll have to return the largest pole & the extra 3000 reel. Would've been a 5-star review if I didn't have to go through the hassle of a return.

Will : Do not use for salt water, it rusts no matter what.

Reel got stuck after using it a good couple of times, do not use for salt water. Rinsed every time after use, used a rag to dry it out plus kept it extended in a cool place and only retracted it to pack before next trip and still components starting to rust in less than a month of use. Liked the rod, quality not there though.

One of the eyes was off straight out the package and the bottom cap seems to be missing.

Ryano : poor plastic reel ties, defective glue

So this rod seemed pretty decent until I used it maybe 3 or 4 times. The issue I had out of the box was the plastic cap on the bottom was defective with the glue and twisted right off with no effort. After using the rod I had no luck catching anything until the 3rd or 4th time, and once I got a good hook into a fish the rod ties (which again are glued together into one peice) the glued defected and the rod ties just separated and my brand new reel completely fell onto the ground causing me to lose the fish. I dont understand the point in using two separate plastic pieces vs manufacturing one peice to prevent this exact problem on the most important part of the rod. The rod needs some tlc before im going to attempt to use it again, i will have to reglue all of the plastic pieces. This may have been from improper storage of the rod causing the glue to separate and defect.

Chad Larrieu : Cheap Rod

The rod arrived with two of the guide eyes loose from the carbon fiber rod sections. I firmly pressed them back into place and added a drop of flexible, marine-grade "G-flex" epoxy to keep the eyes secure.

I also had to add $5 worth of quarters to the butt-end of the rod in order to balance it. And the reel seat felt wobbly. The aluminum and plastic threaded rings which secured the reel seat have slop in the threads, and don't seat squarely. I added a drop of threadlock to the threads and mounted the reel as securely as I could.

I got a few weeks of good use out of it, landing numerous fish. But then today I went to cast for a long shot, and the rod folded forward at the end of the cast. One of the eyes probably worked loose, protruding a sharp edge that creased the next carbon fiber section during rod flex and caused the failure of the rod.

For the price, meh, buy two maybe? And keep an eye on those rings at the end of each rod section, making sure the metal isn't protruding past the carbon.

Crash : Nice rod for the money, but the reel is too small

First let me say that the rod and reel were a good bargain and they are functional. The rod so far I have no issues with, except maybe it could be stiffer, but that is a feel thing. The reel is in my opinion too small, I have the 3000V and for an almost 9' rod it should be the bigger reel. All in all if I knew I would have bought a seperate reel to hold more line, not a bad buy, just keep the line to braid and maybe 10-12lb test.
