My foodsaver from 1990 quit sealing. will this or any of the other current foodsaver units accept non-foodsaver brand bags?

Answer: I have the 5000 and it accepts non FoodSaver brand bags.

Answer: Yes. But some of the brands have rolls that are too big to fit in the unit. You just have to unroll about a third of it into another roll without a tube. Pretty easy and it saves money.

hello , there are some worms showed up from the sealer strips ,how could i clean it ?it is sooo disguesting .....and they are too many

Answer: Sounds like you may have some food residual food in and under the drip tray. You need to pull it out and clean it and clean under it. I pull it out each time I use it. I use disinfectant wipes and a bamboo pick to clean all the little crevices. I think the little worms are fly larvae. Good luck

Answer: I don't know. The FoodSaver this replaced was almost ten years old and this one definitely is more powerful than that one.

Answer: The plug works in US outlets. I guess if you have a converter you can use it in Europe.

Brittany Heaton : Team work needed, but perfect!

My grandmother has one, and it works amazing! This is a team effort machine, it's best to have someone help you hold the bags to have them sealed. First time I used it, I would miss the seal, and have to re run it again. We did a lot of food, so being able to make bags for the size needed was perfect! I just added this item to our wedding registry! (Along with extra bags)

I owned a food saver when they first came out and had it for many many years. It finally gave out so I repurchased this model. It is difficult to use. If you are trying to hold the bag into the vacuum then you have to use both hands to press down the bar to get the machine started and that is kind of hard to juggle. There is an area in the back of the machine for the roll but it is hard to grab and feed through to the front to cut and seal. It works once you figure out a way to do it but I am sure other models of the FoodSaver may be easier.
