Can you change the hooks on this rig.

Answer: Yes should be able to change the hooks if you are able to pull the loop of the line over the hook. It can be a little tight with the float but they were put on with the bead and float already on there so should be able to come off.

Answer: Not really made for hook changes.

Answer: Not really...i agree i dont like the hooks but they work well in catching fish over all. We caught a lot of whiting so far with them

What is the difference between the pro and elite versions?

Answer: The differences between the two rigs are the floats and the hooks. The hooks on the Pompano Elite are stainless steel #2 kahle hooks while the hooks on the Pro are Gold #2 kahle hooks. The floats on the Elite are 3/4" chartreuse and green pill style floats and the Pro has 1/2" chartreuse floats.

Cris : These rigs are great

There is definitely a big difference between the quality of these pompano rigs verse other ones that are made in China. Hooks are also very sharp! The rig itself is strong and all the knots are strong as well. If you are looking for good pompano or surf fishing rigs buy these!

JN : Pretty good rig

Pretty good rig. The floats are "half" floats meaning a full float was cut in half to make the rig, not the best quality. The hook barb rusts pretty quickly and breaks off causing me to lose bait and fish. Even though I clean everything thoroughly with fresh water after fishing, I can only get 2 to 3 surf fishing outings out of a rig before I have to replace it.

Caught a bunch of fish off the beach on the FL gulf coast. I had used bottom rigs with the same bait and had less luck than with this rig with floaters by the hooks. All held up well to some good size fish including a 3 foot hammerhead. I clipped the hook in half and let him go, so that was the only rig I lost. You can find similar at local bait shops for the same price but these are pretty solid. I'll buy more but only went through 1 because of the shark, so might not need them soon. Kids used the same and caught pompano and whiting left and right. Can't go wrong honestly.

JK : Sturdy and reliable

I used these for a week fishing from the beach in the Gulf of Mexico and they held up great. I caught a couple of 30 lb. drum along with some large stingrays and they held strong. Not a single failure all week. The barbs on the hooks will rust out after a couple of days in the salt water but I believe that is intentional to protect the fish. It's really easy to swap out the hooks and keep on fishing.

They worked great for a novice like myself. We were able to catch fish in the surf and not worry about trying to make our own rigs. Not sure if it was just luck or the little floats but we seemed to catch fewer catfish which is a good thing when surf fishing.

Well made. I caught Pompano, blue fish and jack in the surf on a recent trip to Florida. Stainless steel hooks would make it better since the gold hooks tend to rust more quickly and lose their point faster. But a good rig for the price.
