Answer: Not in any spot, but I think this would work good for hiking.

is it water proof ?

Answer: It seems to be but if youre asking will they rust I dont know. The pieces are extremely small. The whole kit can fit in the palm of your hand.

Answer: I haven't used the fish spring yet. Did not realize till you asked me the question. So I dont know is the right answer. I unit is handy and cheaper than what you can buy at a store.

Should have read more about this kit, not a saltwater kit at all. I'm sure it would be perfect for stream or lake or fly fishing. It's small and all of the parts are small. Would definitely be a good trout kit. I was looking for more of a saltwater rig set. I'm going to keep it, some of it has use.
