Questions about Pautzke Balls O' Fire Salmon Eggs Bait
Q:
Is this product manufactured from fish eggs?
Answer: I believe the "Balls o fire" are real fish eggs, they also have a product called "fire balls" that are not real eggs.
Answer: Some of them are real cured salmon eggs, and some are artificial. I got this email from the manufacturer yesterday:
Answer: These are real salmon eggs that are somewhat cured, dyed, and flavored but they are real salmon eggs. I love this stuff. I caught a PB trout on them.
Answer: I'm not for sure but I don't believe so. Mine came and have a heavy shell that doesn't seem to me to be the most natural thing in the world.

Answer: Yes
Q:
This is not caviar. though it’s packed and priced that way. why so long to arrive? for the price i could buy them a first class seat. price gouging?
Answer: We apologize for the picture on the listing being incorrect. We just recently took over distribution and management of the Pautzke program and the content is steadily being fixed as we inherited it setup incorrectly. For the price issue, that is a mistake and will be adjusted today. Our price should be $4.99 + shipping for the item mentioned. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this.
Q:
Is the price for 1 jar?
Answer: Yes
Q:
How long do these last after opening?

Answer: I have used them in trout environments

Product reviews of Pautzke Balls O' Fire Salmon Eggs Bait
Justin B. : Works as expected. As others notes they are smaller than you think if you have not seen the product in stores before.
Eggs are a little small and contents leak quickly so only good for a few casts but get the job done. I do have them stolen off the hook by small creek chubs on the regular which is annoying but the trout will take them
Dave R : egss are all dried up
eggs came all dried up
must be really old stock......... no date on the bottle.
unusable...... needed them today...... going fishing w/o
salmoneggs i guess.
george e lynde : product was available
I was a little dissapoionted in the size of the eggs and the amount.
Charles Cunliffe : These pop when you hook them
These pop when you hook them and the inside content drains out onto your hand.
Not very good situation.
Basstex : They catch trout
Always pleased with these
HEMI : Not worth it
Don’t waste your money on something that won’t help catch
Jschwartzott : Didn’t work for me
Don’t expect to use on hooks. These must be tied into mesh bundles.
Sam Nelson : Better for slower water not shallow fast.
Fall off super easy. Good maybe for slower waters.
William H. Newell : Maybe real trout will like them. They have been famous for decades
No luck for me with these in mountain lakes for planted trout. Maybe real trout will like them. They have been famous for decades, so don't take them out of your box of tricks.
michael day : Not real salmon eggs.
Not what is advertised, these are artificial, rubber, salmon eggs, not real salmon eggs. I usually buy these at the store but getting hard to find so figured I'd try buying them here, big mistake.
Trey McClure : Great!
Arrived on time and is great for catching trout!
Christopher Parker : Wrong size!
The yellow jackets are sold as 1.5 oz but they are only 1oz jars!
Duzzi : Three Stars
works okay
Gary : Doesn’t work
Didn’t catch anything
William H. Newell : Maybe real trout will like them. They have been famous for decades

Nick Whitman : Photo is misleading
I thought I would get a larger jar. Pictured is the 1.5 Oz jar. Although the description says 1 Oz, the picture is slightly misleading.
JC : Great for stockies.
Stocked rainbow trout love these, therefore so do I. I use a size 10 or 12 egg hook on 2lb or 4lb test with these (split shot as needed) and they work great. For those not used to ultralight finesse fishing, you may go through quite a few of these, as they are pretty soft and get mashed off of the hook if you miss a strike.
DCutdSE : Great bait. Caught more fish with this bait than ...
Great bait. Caught more fish with this bait than other type of bait.
Duff123 : I really like these for my purpose of tying up in spawn ...
I really like these for my purpose of tying up in spawn bags! They are really durable and last a lot longer than uncured or other cured eggs. They have the same round shape as an egg should have (unlike some cured eggs). I can tie them up in smaller bags because of their durability and not having to worry that they will pop and go flat after just a couple casts!
I primarily use them when I don't have eggs from a previous fish caught sitting around in my freezer. And now after using them I might just continue to use these more often than eggs that I've cured from previous fish caught! They work really well and still have the egg juice in the middle. So if you are fishing in a spawn bag and feel they're not milking enough, just puncture one of the eggs in the sack with a hook or needle or something and keep casting away and you'll have your milking result!!
I would highly recommend these eggs!
JNB : These work great for trout
These work great for trout. They are an easy item to just leave in the box so you always have bait available if hardware isn't working.
Not sure how long they last but I have had them up to a couple years before they go bad.
I usually use it on a single size 12 or 14 below a float on a lake when still fishing for trout. They are nice and tacky so they stay on the hook well.
If I could change anything I would make them sightly bigger.
hillflower : Happy fisherwoman!
Perfect! Just what the fish orders - caught 4 rainbow trout from a river -even in this cold weather!
pete : incorrect price for sizes
ordered the 1.5oz and received the 1oz size
Michael A. Kelley : Five Stars
Great!
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
nice thankyou
Lazy shopper : Great product
Actually caught a steelhead on them
SmallTownMusicTeacher : Great for Northern California stocked trout
These seem to work well for stocked trout, but the native trout don't really seem to be interested.
You can get a lot of action with these, but like any bait/lure, sometimes they just "turn-off" and suddenly they aren't hitting them anymore.
I like the "Gold Label" version of these eggs, but they sometimes cost double what these cost. They are the same eggs, but with gold glitter that reflect light and attract fish. I just buy these green label eggs and this ---->
Juan : No luck with these
No luck with these
Amazon Customer : catch lots of small and some large fish
catch all the small fish in the pond or creek with these along with a small hook... perfect for trout.. sunfish and crappie love them as well. as soon as it hits the water they see it
Charles Cunliffe : These pop when you hook them

B K : Excellent bait for trout and panfish.
These things always produce fish for me.
Tara's I. : Perfect bait
Just perfect. Works all the time
Deann M. : Old Time Quality, Sustained Good Brand Reputation
Can’t tell the difference between this and cheap caviar, but recommend plain water crackers. Just kidding! I first learned to fish with these and they are tried and true. Same funky smell but they keep for quite awhile if you keep the top on. Handle well being put on a hook, and they stay on it. Great brand with old time quality!
Christopher Parker : Wrong size!
The yellow jackets are sold as 1.5 oz but they are only 1oz jars!
Zach : 5 stars
Great quality eggs

Great quality eggs
Darrin Ridley : Work
Work.
juan : best salmon eggs
cought over 50 rainbow trout and going for more.
Harrison Higaki : RIP OFF FAKE EGGS.
RIP OFF!!! Negative 5 stars. This can't be Pautze's. They're some kind of rubbery material, FAKE eggs. The jar is the small jar, not the large jar in the picture. Don't buy. It's a sham.
UBME : Great Balls of Fire
Great product works well
Tara's I. : Perfect bait
Just perfect. Works all the time
William m. : Some things are still really good and work like you expect
thank you finally had time this year for fishing and this bait still brings the trout in. Learned about 'balls of fire'..... 50 years ago and the quality is still perfect. Hasn't changed since i was young ........ showed my grandson and now he knows too. The turtles do love them though !
Jeannie : Great Addition - Surprisingly Small Jar
These are an excellent addition to my tackle box. The jar was much smaller than expected, but I’m still happy with my purchase.
1720Sportsman : Tried various colors.
Didn't work as advertised.
MylesD : you can find better
Sort of mushy and not as hood as others I have tried. Also seem smaller than a few others and on a single hool.they were tough to keep on
Adventure Reader : Jar keeps getting smaller but the bait still works
When I was a kid I used this stuff. Back then the jar was three times as big and cost a fraction of what it does today. It still catches fish though.
TheBendu : Great brand...
It's Pautzke, great quality as always...
