I catch fluke, blues and stripers with these. Quite effective. They cast surprisingly well also.
As soon as it's under water I give one hard pull to cause a violent flutter, this sends out a strong vibration helping fish localize the source and "ring the dinner bell", then a slow steady retrieve. This also helps you know that it hasn't picked up any seaweed, killing the action.
I caught quite a few fish with them this year. I had one striper chase it right out of the water! They were my "go to" lure.
