Savage Gear
Savage Gear lures are the result of a team of worldwide anglers that approach each day on the water with uncommon ambition and a driving desire to take down the largest predatory fish in the water. The attitude is less about sharing a beautiful day fishing and much more about total domination of a body of water. Logging hundreds of thousands of hours with a fishing rod in hand, their experience is translated into swimbait, crankbait and soft plastic lure actions. The goal is savage strikes – strikes carried out with complete, absolute and total commitment from the fish to kill and eat the lure.

Questions about Savage Gear 3D Real Trout Swimbait Sinking
Q:
what kind of setup for this bait
Answer: As for rods okuma tour guide select makes a very affordable heavy bait casting rod ...reel doesn't matter too much and would recommend heavy line...casted mine...got a backlash in my reel and see ya laterr
Answer: 17lb mono, 8ft. Med. Hvy. rod, shimano Cardiff reel.
Answer: I used it tied on about a 15 inch florocarbon leader . Weight will depend on depth of fish.
Answer: El
Q:
What size hook?
Answer: Either a 1 or a 1/0. Comparable to the top hook on a hudd of the same size.
Answer: Either a 1 or a 1/0. Comparable to the top hook on a hudd of the same size.
Answer: I'd estimate about a 4/0.
Q:
Hook size?
Answer: I use a 6 or 8
Q:
In a pond by my house thre is a largemouth bass easily over 12pounds will the 7in 4ounce be to big?
Answer: No. If a 12 inch fish constantly bites a 15 inch worm, you have nothing to worry about with a 12+ pound fish eating a 7 inch bait. Good luck. I hope you catch her.....and let her go.
Answer: No, big baits for big fish. Good luck.
Answer: I've caught bass down to 3lbs on the 7inch so i think it would work well!
Q:
Do you have the Savage Gear Real Trout in the 11" model in a slow or fast sink?
Q:
How do i order different sizes? Only gives me 7" option
Q:
would this work for a lake without much trout?
Answer: It should work in most lakes even without trout stockings. There are many factors that will influence a fish to bite. All lures have their time and place.
Answer: I used one in a pond with no trout and caught a bass so I’d say so
Answer: Yes, but always try to go with color patterns that most closely resemble that of the natural forage in your water
Answer: yES, i BELIEVE IT WOULD....tHEY WOULD MISTAKE IT FOR SUPPER
Answer: my guess would be yes
Q:
Is the hitch colorway incorrect? because on all other sites it has a green back and grey body
Answer: the picture shown is light rainbow trout.
Q:
what is the sink rate on the 7" and the 5"?
Answer: they are both slow sinking.
Answer: I bought the 5” and it was extremely fast. Any slack and it nose-dives down.
Answer: I have the 5.5". I am not sure about feet of descent per second(s) but it is weighted and falls semi quickly if you don't keep it moving. This bait seems to work best with a reel, pause and hop retrieve. You won't be able to float and jerk it or suspend and jerk. If I had to guess I would say a foot descent per 1.5 seconds.
Product reviews of Savage Gear 3D Real Trout Swimbait Sinking
Devin : The Official BS Review
It take a 200 yard walk to the local lake near me to a small dam. Cast into the lake as far as I could which the lure can case out 100 yards easy. I reeled in at a moderate rate since this pond is filled with Lily pads. I reel the lure back pretty slowly. Watch a pike follow it the last 3 feet, then it slammed the lure and attempted to tack it back into the darkness. But 100lbs braid can take anything around here so it was a short fight. The Northern was 29”. This lure is 100% worthy of my approval. Make sure you buy 2 because fish do love to strike it.

Jacqueline : 7in dark trout swimbait
I received this item rather quickly and when I had opened it, it was a good size(7in what I ordered) and looked/felt seriously realistic! I haven't fished it yet but I have very good confidence in this bait, I would recommend this swimbait. Also this bait has a boot style tail not a flat style of tail

Amazon Customer : Love this swim bait
Love this swim bait, very large and heavy which I like. I have fished with it a couple times, targeting big pike and musky. This bait is terrifying when it swim- can't wait to use it more. I did put a treble hook on the belly of it, as most of my strikes/bites are from underneath so I do not understand why savage gear did not have it come with a hook already. Awesome brand, awesome lure. I will support this brand for life.

Orlando : Just Ok.
Fished this swim bait for about and hour and caught one big bass. So it works. But the eyes fell out easily. I'd spend an extra 10 bucks and buy a Spro.
