Yer Pal : My Confidence Bait

Bass Master Shaw Grigsby says in his book that everyone has their confidence bait. His are spinners. This ribbed craw tube is mine, especially pumpkin with red flakes. When I really want to catch a fish, and I'm done playing around, experimenting with other lures, I put this bait on to get my confidence back. I don't know why, maybe it's superstition, maybe not, but the ribbed quality seems to make a difference. I've used unribbed tubes for hours with almost no bites at all.

I first became aware of this ribbed, red flake craw tube when I found one in a tree. Another angler must have got it caught in a tree, and maybe the weather brought it out over time and I was able to reach for it. That being said, I can't say if the brand was "Big Bait" but it looked just like this product's photo. And, actually, I bought the same design of another brand. Fish don't care about the brand, just the design.

The first time I fished this tube, all I used was a hook--no weight, no scent. I caught a huge bass--I mean HUGE on the seventh cast. This bass ATTACKED it. I always get bites with this tube.

I've also used other colors and feel confident with them. Yesterday, I used a blue tube with silver flakes, rigged skirted pig and jig, and it hooked a fish. I also added some Pro-cure garlic scent to it. I doubt this makes a difference, but I squirted it in and on the tube and over the skirt.

Keep your hooks sharp, and you'll be reeling 'em in with this bait.

I assumed the entire bait was the green pumpkin but half of the bait is orange. The Bass here in PA love the green baits. I have not had a chance to use these yet. I would have preferred the entire bait be the green pumpkin like shown in the picture with some orange on the tail
