Are all eight crawfish in the package the same color, or are there a variety of colors?

Answer: Yes all 8 of the crawfish in the package are the same color. Zoom makes this bait in several different colors and they are reasonable priced. I love all of the Zoom products. These crawfish are a great choice when bass are on the nest or when used to punch through grass. I hope you enjoy them.

What size hook should I use ?

Answer: For Bass, you will catch more fish with a 4/0 wide gap hook, like a Gamakatsu. If you are looking for big bass, a 5/0 will do. I usually use a 3/8 tungsten bullet weight.

Answer: I use a 3/0 or 4/0 wide gap hook. Get a good quality name brand hook that is really sharp. Good luck.

Not my real name guy : 3.5 Stars: Not As Good As NetBait Crawfish Swimbaits

OK, this is a bit embarrassing, but I actually had this product confused with another, so I am editing my original review (which appears below) and changing it from a 5/5 star review to a 3.5/5 star review. The stellar crawfish swimbait I referred to below in my original review was the Paca Craw by NetBait, not Zoom. I realized that when I dug into the bottom of my tackle box this spring and found last summer's half-empty pack of crawfish lures and the pack of seemingly similar swimbaits by Zoom that I had bought last winter. In my defense, the lures are colored similarly, look much the same (from the packaging, at least), and both Zoom and NetBait have similarly colored yellow and red packaging.

I'm going to deduct 1.5 stars from the review below after trying out both the Zoom Super Speed Craws and the NetBait crawfish swimbaits earlier this summer on the same lake as last year, with the same VMC Wacky Weedless Jig Heads, both 1/8oz and 1/16 oz sizes (I preferred the latter, as it seemed to give better action in the water and snagged less). First, the Zooms did not have as realistic or noticeable of a swim action as the NetBait crawfish. Second, the Zoom product was not as durable - I would say I got 30-50% fewer casts out of the Zoom lures as I did the NetBait ones, between unsnagging the lures from lily pads and pulling them out of fishes' mouths. The Zoom rubber was softer and ripped more easily. Third, the Zoom Super Speed Craw simply did not work as effectively. Whether it was purely a matter of swim action or if the Netbait's salt and pork flavorings also helped, I caught at least 60% more bass with the NetBait Paca Craw swimbait than I did with the Zoom Super Speed Craw; several other anglers in our party had the same experience, with the best results coming from the NetBait lure. The NetBait craw also caught probably 50% more bass than than I caught with Field & Stream's 2014 highest-rated bass lure, the Tattle Tail Worm by Gene Larew. For what it's worth, I bought and tried out a third pack of very similar watermelon seed colored crawfish swimbaits by Gander Mountain (these had a wider, double-barreled body), and they too caught more fish and were more durable than the Zoom swimbaits, but did not seem to be quite as enticing to bass as the NetBait lures.

I fished a pack of these Zoom Super Speed Craw swimbaits in Watermelon Seed color for a few days last summer on a smaller Western Michigan lake with fairly clear water and a lot of weed and lily pad cover. I rigged it with a 1/8 oz VMC Wacky Weedless Jig head and we caught about 4 dozen bass over the week with it, easily three times as many as with all other lures combined - several plastic worms, frogs, crankbaits, Mepps, spinnerbaits, etc.... that we tried. In fact, we had several elementary school-aged kids on the trip who had never fished before or had only fished with a bobber, and they were able to catch bass with this lure.

I found that this swimbait took a hook easily but was quite tough - I used one for a good dozen fish before it started getting a bit ratty and needed to be replaced, and much of the wear probably came from an occasional snag. It cast easily, had a good swim motion, more like a frog than a crawfish, for sure, and with the VMC weedless jig head, did a really nice job of avoiding snags. I also found that it was a good lure to use to catch smaller bass - I caught largemouths as small as 8 inches with it - and unlike some smaller lures, it didn't scare the smaller fish away. I don't know about you, but I'd rather catch smaller bass than none at all. However, we didn't catch any larger bass with it - nothing over 13" that week, although I suspect that may have been more about what was in the lake than the lure, as we fished pretty much the entire lake from a boat, early morning and at dusk, and never saw a glimpse of anything larger.

At the end of the trip, I bought a couple more packs of these swimbaits. I'm hardly an expert bass angler, but I've never used a better lure and haven't caught fish this successfully with lures since I went salmon fishing in Alaska when I was a kid and was pulling a fish out every two to three casts. I liked this lure so much, I bought packs for family members for stocking stuffers this past Christmas.
