product description
Brad's Super Bait Cut Plugs is a patented bait holding lure with a superb rotating action that mimics a wounded bait fish. It has proven very effective for various species of Salmon, Kokanee, Lake Trout, Walleye, and many more. Super Bait Cut Plugs can be fished by trolling, casting, plunking, or back bouncing. All you have to do is add your scent or your ground-up bait and you are ready to fish! Standard Rigging: Run leader through leader guide, under the hook tunnel, and out the head using a Brad's Bead Chain or Brad's Swivels at both ends of the leader. You can never use too many properly placed swivels to avoid line twist! Mooching Rig or Double Treble: Run leader through hook tunnel and head, use Brad's Bead Chains or Brad's Swivels on the main line. Downrigger and Flasher: It is important to use a heavy flasher leader with Brad's Beach Chains and Duo Lock Snaps on both ends. One snap connects to the main line swivel, one snap connects to the flasher. Connect the flasher to the Super Bait leader with a Brad's Bead Chain; the length of the Super Bait leader depends on the species of fish, with the lengths ranging from 28-60 inches. Rotating flashers, such as the Pro-Troll Prochain Flasher have proven to be very effective. Baiting: The type of bait used may vary depending on the species of fish being pursued. Using canned tuna in oil, sardines, or chopped herring along with your favorite scent can enhance the fish catching performance significantly. Be creative by mixing your own secret Super Bait Cut Plug recipe.

Answer: I believe they were around 3-3 ½".
Q:
Do this come rigged or just the lure ? yes or no
Answer: single pack is rigged. Two pack is not.
Answer: I believe the double package was not rigged, which is better, because you can rig it yourself with the line you prefer. There are videos on YouTube to show how to do it if needed.
Answer: You can buy them both ways. I buy them unrigged and tie my self.
Q:
Does this float?
Answer: no they donot float.
Answer: Yes it will float
Answer: Yes they do
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes

Answer: Go and see all the ways you can rig cut plugs on youtube. I use several methods that perform with their way and means. They all are good under the fishing situations.

Answer: Do a search on google or youtube. Plenty of videos
Q:
Do this come rigged or just the lure ?
Answer: They come two ways. The unrigged double pack, or the rigged single. Both are about the same price. Not all that hard to rig. They do catch fish , not just the fisherman.

i want to rig it with100 lb test leader, will it fit?
Answer: 100 lb mono line would be a challenge.

Answer: Braid or mono ?
Answer: Yes

Q:
How do you use this casting?
Answer: It's manly a trolling luer works great. Not really designed to cast.
Answer: I use it for trolling and don't think the large sized version of these are useful for casting but could be wrong. The medium sized and kokanee versions should cast fine but they are pretty lightweight so a weight needs to be added but be sure the weight is at least 12 inches or more on front of it so there is no interference to the spinning action.
Answer: This isn’t a casting lure. If you want to cast it you’ll have to weight it.
Answer: I use it trolling only. Never heard of anyone casting with it.
Answer: I use it trolling for salmon in Ca, Black Jack is my go to cut plug. You need current for the lure to work properly.
Q:
Is this lure uv on all sides. or just the back of the lure.
Answer: The lure is UV on all sides.
Answer: All sides
Product reviews of Brad's Killer Fishing Gear Super Bait Cut Plug and Mini Cut Plug
topkat : Just what I needed
As I said before; a must when fishing with the wife and kids, lets me get to fishing rather than baiting hooks.
timfoo : Super Bait Cut Plug
It has a nice finish that the fish here in Hawaii would bite. I just wish it came with Red hook on it. But over are the it work here some times!
Mtn man : Great idea
A very good idea, to solve a problem of rapping bait on a luer . This is the best idea from a anglers prospective, allows the use of oil or chunk bait inside the plug.
Bret C. : Cut plugs work
The Brads Cut plugs work great for river salmon. All the folks on the Sacramento River last year using spinners complaining that it was a bad year, I’d disagree... as I was consistently “lucky” using these packed with salted tuna.
Heisenberg : More Time with Bait in Water
Not mucking around with herring is priceless. Your bait is in the water continuously and always has the perfect spin. Rather than worrying about your bait's condition, or if it's been stripped, you're always good to go wit Superbait. More time in the water means a higher chance of catching. I use them in the Columbia River (Washington State), with a flasher and dropper ball trolling downstream in low flow/water conditions (Hi flow, we pull K-15s). Very productive. I also cast them in the surf in the Puget Sound, landing silvers and pinks. For the river, stuff them with a mixture of Chicken of the Sea tuna with oil, some salt, and garlic powder and a squirt of your favorite sauce. For the surf, I put a strip of herring fillet in it, and place 3 no. 5 split shot in the cavity before closing and banding. They cast long and far, and I outfish my buddy, who's a die-hard herring aficionado. He's constantly re-baiting and adjusting his bait for proper spin. With the Superbait, your fishing continuously, and the spin is always perfect. This means more presentation time. To the people complaining about the cost. Buy Superbait once, and your done -- have been using the same one's for many seasons. My buddy goes through herring like there's no tomorrow. That adds up! You want to stay true to baiting up herring, that's fine. If not, give this a chance and you won't be disappointed.

B. Beebe : Terrific lire
Couldn't find the Black Jack like we were very successful with in Alaska so chose these because of the similarities
Barbara Orsaba : Delivered as stated
It was for my nephew. He is happy with it.
Ruby : My catch rate compared to others not using these is 2 to 1! Salmon hit these HARD. Awesome product!
I always kill it with these babies in Alaska. I wish it came with more rubber bands since my catch ration is usually 2:1 compared to others on the boat not using these. I also recommend spraying with scent 20 minutes before getting wet. I rotate and pre-spray my other plugs as well. You CANNOT go wrong with these.

Alex : Salmon can resist
Not only that, but they can't steal my bait anymore. I did run braided line (aka Power Pro 80 Lb test) as a short leader attached to mono leading to a flasher. The reason are the dog fish biting through mono line.
The cut plug action is brilliant and after catching a fish, you can freshen up the lure some fish liver from the fish you just caught. Then it's fish on again. Keeping the sent fresh, I think, is an important factor to landing more fish. I have a few different patterns on hand to switch out as needed. These were a great money and time saving addition to my salmon killing weapons.
FaceBug : Excellent Quality!!!
Excellent Quality!!!
Ray L : Great Bait
For the reviewer who wished they came with more rubber bands.....Just go buy 1 foot of 1/4 inch rubber tube. You'll have enough for 10 years of fishing. That's all they do is snip bits of tubing.
Chuck J : Consistently outfishes herring. Can't say more than that.
Works great on Oregon Kings. Have used for the past 3 seasons now, and I am outfishing others in my boat that refuse to make the switch from plug-cut herring. I am usually 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 outfishing them. Here's some thoughts:
- I always have fresh bait. When using these, here's my strategy: I will bait 2 of these with tuna in oil. I just dump it into a leftover tub. When I bait these, I just pack a handful of the tuna into the body cavity and close it and leave both of them in the tub with the tuna. I don't worry about the foam pad. It's thrown out when opening a new package.
- After baiting up, I hook up to my rod with snap swivel and begin fishing. When sufficient time has passed or I catch a fish, I reel in, unsnap the old bait, snap on the new one, and I am back in the water fishing in less than a minute with perfectly fresh bait. The herring-pullers spend far more time out of the water rebaiting.
- I feel that the ability to have fresh bait constantly throughout the day allows me far better chances of hooking up than those dragging herring for hours at a time. I spend $1 on a can of tuna and it lasts me all day fishing.
These things are amazing. Great swim presentation. I did swap out the factory gear with better quality hooks. I have lost a couple on the single siwash hooks I'm using. I think this season I'm going to switch to trebbles and see how that goes.

j.a.c : Twists line bad if fouled
I may catch fish but if it gets fouled at all it will twist up your line horribly. I literally had one foul after a sharp turn and twist up the line so bad the lure was in a ball of line at my downriver clip.
Steve Kynard : Double Take is on fire
Yes it did do the job. Salmon in the Sacramento River can’t leave them alone

Joe : Great lure for kings
I own around 20 of these and I absolutely love them. I cut the line of and retie my own but that's simply personal preference. I also add colored plastic about 2-4inches between the hook and the hook garage, this will prevent the hook from tangling, pulling up to the hook garage, and also adds some extra color and flare for the fish to see. I usually use tuna in oil with smelly jelly, i prefer garlic, packed in the bait area and i also store these when ready to fish in a tupperware with the tuna mix; this ensures the sponge soaks up all the deliciousness the salmon seem to love.
For non use storage i prefer the plano flip sider tackle box, the 4 inch model works perfectly for storing them. I have two of everything, one tied with a single treble and one tied with two octopus hooks. Check your local fishing regulations for hook laws before customizing but these are great for kings, coho and lakers.
