Are these a good substitute for nightcrawlers? our local bait stores quality of nightcrawlers is poor and i thought maybe gulp would work better.

Answer: I don’t consider them a ‘substitute’ for nighcrawlers. They are just another bait to place in your arsenal. I generally use the 1” when I fish ultralight. I catch quite a few bluegill, bass, and crappie with them. Have even caught a catfish or two. The 1” are very tiny baits. I also use the 2.5” gulp minnows. They wor well, too. If you want to weed out the smaller fish, then use a 2.5” minnow.

Answer: They are basically a replacement for crappie minnows and they work well. On the other hand I have caught large bluegills also, so I use them as a replacement for small worms.

Answer: Since I started using them I quit using worms or waxworms. Also got my older brothers and uncle to switch.

Will brook trout eat this?

Answer: crappies blue gills perch almost any fish don't fish for trout but it a great bait

Answer: I don't know. There is no trout fishing where I live.

Answer: Rig them with a needle with a double hook and they will. I use them in riffles with a tiny split shot above the hook about a foot. The tiny 1 inch long shiners.

We use these to catch sunfish, bluegill and specs on the local lake. The minnow stays on for several fish and the fish love these! We don't buy bait anymore and my hands stay clean too putting these on the hook. It saves money vs. buying real bait in the store.

Took this out fishing for blue gill and crappie.. The fish responded well when the minnow drops. I kept catching a lot of fish and was even surprised at the number of small baby large mouth bass that kept hitting it. The minnows will last a while, but after a few catches they will be ripped up some.

Another great bait for sunfish. Combine this with a small spoon (Castmaster) to locate large bream.

DSW : Cast 'em or float 'em!

I have gone to Gulp minnows in the spring for panfish. Hands down, I have had more success with these baits below a bobber or casting than any other plastic/artificial bait. They are a terrific bait and eliminate the hassles and fears of the new laws carrying live bait and water in minnow buckets. The bait will dry out and become difficult to remove from your hook if left out of liquid for extended amount of time. I keep a second old Gulp container with the liquid and toss any used ones into it when done for the day. The baits easily are put on a hook/jig for another day out.

This product is great for putting on spinners or jigging thru the ice. Not good if you just let it sit their like a live minnow on a plain hook.
