Are the pliers spring loaded?

Answer: if they have sent me a spring-type strip

Is this item boxed so it can be given as a gift?

Answer: We intended to give this as a gift, however it was not in a box, it was in plastic and the plastic was torn and the items falling out. We ended up going out in town to find something that look well enough in its packaging to give as a gift.

Answer: No box, it comes in a plastic packaging like you would see hanging on a store rack.

Answer: If I remember correctly, it comes in plastic packaging. But what I always do is just wrap gifts in the packages they come in from Amazon.

I was very excited about this filet knife but after using it to filet flounder (not a difficult fish to clean) it was so dull I had to switch to my old knife. Yes, I do know I can sharpen it but first of all, I shouldn't have to sharpen a new knife and secondly, I did sharpen it and it still was lame. The pliers I like

I bought this on a whim for my dad for Christmas. All I knew was that Rapala is a good brand and that he has always gotten good products from them. This was no different! The blade is super sharp (good, apparently, for filleting), and the case holds it in place exceptionally well. No worries about it slipping out and accidentally injuring someone. Well worth the money!

Giving it 3 stars. The sheath is Mehh and kinda poorly made. It will probably my function fine but I can see it being problematic. The pliers will be a problem for sure. Just holding them and checking them out the large spring I between flew off. I give 1 day in the boat and this will disappear :-/
I won't buy again :-(

This is a really nice set; I like the pliers for reach. The knife is sharp and flexible; not a end all be all. However the kit is a great addition to the "box".

The knife is sharp, but I've never seen a new filet knife come dull.

The "Fishing pliers" broke immediately. The mechanism to open them in the middle of the pliers is an incredibly cheap piece of plastic that seems ornamental not functional. Any use, as in just squeezing the pliers can/will break it. So don't buy this set thinking you're getting a real set of pliers.

The knife is metal and has a cool Rapala imprint, but everything else is plastic. The little 'metal' piece that divides the handle from the blade is nothing more than the cheapest plastic you can imagine painted silver. The handel is rubberized plastic which is sufficient, and the sheath is nicer than the knife it houses.

Overall this is about is cheap as you can get manufacturing wise. Get a simple filet knife that dosen't look as cool but will last longer.
