How many pound test is the wire?

Answer: I don't know. However the wire is nylon coated multistrand. It looks to be strong enough to catch barracuda, somewhere around #30. I do have one criticism, the treble hooks are too small on my opinion. I changed them to 2/0 trebles.

Bradley West : Effective lure, but could be easily improved

The price was right, and to be fair the barracuda DO bite this sucker! I give it only three stars for three reasons: the VMC hooks are one size too small, the color is garden-hose green (instead of fluoro chartreuse) and the overall length of the rig is a couple inches shy of ideal (which to be fair is disclosed in the product description at 12"). Next time I will pay a couple bucks more and buy a different version, but if you're on a very tight budget you can hook some 'cudas either trolling or ripping past the fish

This thing is so awesome! It is hard to believe how much the barracudas love this lure, but they really do. Nearly every cast they were following it in. Ripping it in as fast as you can usually caused savage strikes. This one lure caught nearly 20 barracudas in 5 days ranging in size from 14" to nearly 4'. The lure is pretty mangled from the teeth, but still fishes well. Casted or trolled, it outfishes nearly all other lures I tried for barracuda. I wish it had a little bigger treble hooks to keep the big fish buttoned up a bit better, but it does a good job on the smaller fish so it is a trade off. Glad I bought one and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to catch barracuda.

Same review but just in a different color. Got these in several colors for barracuda. Have caught several and the lure is holding up well. Make sure you purchase ones with 2 sets of hooks as cuda hit crosswise and will get hooked in the middle. Tip; cast, wait a few seconds and reel as fast as you can, cuda love to chase it! Hands down the best lure for barracuda!
