The Wilson Combat fitting jig perfect fitting jig for installing the Wilson beavertail grip safety with its unique compound radius. The jig attaches to the hammer and thumb safety holes for perfect indexing. The jig guides you as to how much and where the metal has to be removed from the frame for a perfect fine fit. Would this drop in to a rock island armory 1911

Answer: This is a jig that is used on a Milspec frame so the frame can be modified to fit a custom beavertail. Wilson has a drop in beavertail that works without any modifications to the frame. If your 1911 has a milspec frame with a standard grip safety (rat tail) I would recommend the drop in safety. If you buy the jig and file the frame down you can fit a non drop in trigger and have very little gap between the frame and beavertail. Both the drop in trigger or the Non drop in trigger will need a little sanding or filling on the saftey disconnect to get them to fit and function properly
