I want to purchase 4 inch red fin minnows. The ones I want have three treble hook on them your web photo shows two treble hooks. it photo wrong?

Answer: The photos are correct. The ones we have remaining in stock are 7 inches with two treble hooks

what size is this lure from tip to tail

Answer: Get one. As always, depends on the lake, the weather, the wind,, etc , etc. It is a basic for my bait and tackle. Probably 4 to 4 and a half inches. Good action for a lake or large pond. Can't remember exact size. Just know it works given the right situation at the right time like any bait. Should have the exact size on the description of the item on Amazon.

Answer: Yes to both, depends on how quickly you retrieve it. If you crank it quickly it will go down to 2-3 feet. If you bring it in VERY slowly, like we do for stripers at night, it stays on top.

Answer: It is a type of top water lure. It is categorized as a "jerk bait." It floats at rest. If you lightly flip your wrist it will dive just an inch or two. If you retrieve it steadily it will dive to the three foot level. If you stop the retrieve it will slowly surface again. Take advantage of all this and you'll put a fish in the boat. Good Luck!

Add on: I reordered a pair of jointed CC Red Fins, and received an inventory "Oddvaark" as shown, with a Big O labelled as a Red Fin. Amazon replaced no isssues-- still 5 star lures and service and no change original review of 7" product.

The 'photo' finish is pretty dramatic and life like-- and the size of the 7" is pretty 'meaty' just the thing to get 'ol Big Mouth or that 'monster brown' to strike. I used old style Rebels for many years with great success-- the ones with the groovy finish. This has smooth finish to accommodate the 'graphic' pattern, typical of CC lures. I gave it 5 stars for fit and finish and beefy hooks and hangers. Will have to see if 'graphics' hold up over time vs. Rebel 'hard' finish.

Joel C. : The Red Fin is a great multi-purpose lure, very similar to, and just as good as, the Rebel minnow.

I've used Cotton Cordell Red Fin lures for many years and can attest to their fish catching ability. They can be twiched on top or straight retrived for a wide wobbling action. I sometimes add a sinker 2 or 3 feet ahead of the lure to allow it to run at a desired depth, especially when trolling. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and pickerel are all suckers for this lure. They are also great run off downriggers for Great Lakes trout and salmon. The 7 in., 1 oz. model also works great cast from boat or shore for stripers, bluefish and weakfish (sea trout) using light tackle. I use mostly the chrome/blue and smoky joe color patterns, although walleye seem to go for the gold/orange belly.

For anyone who doesn't like fiddly retrieves, you can just reel this in and the action is great.

It's light, so not great for long casts.

It will swim about 12-18 inches below the surface depending on speed and rod position.
