Answer: no, not big enough nets and not strong enough
Answer: I dont think so. You definitely would have to hold it at the base of the net and not extended at all. I wouldn't go past 8 to 10 lbs with it.

Very complex engineering of telescoping setup. Took me over 30 minutes of cursing to get it setup. Would not recommend, frankly.

Product reviews of SAN LIKE Fishing Net Fish Landing Nets Collapsible Telescopic Sturdy Pole Handle for Saltwater Freshwater Extending to 36/43/71/98inches
Daniel L. : One time use then broken.
Waste money.
Lisa Johnson : It does not telescope as much as I expected it to.
It does not telescope as much as I expected it to. It is pretty cool though. A little flimsy/seems like it will break with substantial sized fish. Wish it was sturdier and extended longer. Decided to keep it and see how it goes
Kindle Customer : Sturdy
Easy to store
Natividad : waste of time and money
Made real cheap buy a better one at Wal Mart
PP : Good quality net. Doesn’t come with case.
Out of the box, this appears to be good quality and worth the price. I’m very happy with the purchase. I haven’t used it yet though. One thing I wish it came with was a carrying case with a shoulder strap. Would make the walks from car to fishing spot a lot easier. I’m worried the net is constantly going to get tangled up with my fishing gear or caught on something. I guess I’ll use some Velcro straps to keep the net in place when it’s collapsed.
Gary : Order not complete
Fish gripper with scale or whatever it was didn't arrive with the net net was in a box by itself if it hadn't been for the fish gripper out of probably bought a different net
Rick D : takes up no room on boat
have not used it yet but as for storage it's fantastic. I just hope it will work for my 8.5 lb. bass lol
Dan : Deceptive Representation
Deceptive Representation - said was it was up to 93” plus inches reach ... only if you count going up and back. Very disappointed at to short to use off my boat dock !! Was only 43” had noticed more closely would not bought for my needs off dock ????
Eddy EGA : FISHING NET USED TO CATCH TOADS
The item was well described and received as so.
Alice Ceballos : Always Be Prepared
This is awesomem as it is a fold up net with a pole that extends so you can always have it with you for an impromtu fishing trip. The only problem I had was getting the tape and plastic they had wrapped so tightly around the net off. It actually tore the net portion in one a place a bit which sucks but I was able to fix it as I am a sewer. This will make a great birthday present for my son.
Sam : Well made and sturdy
Heavy duty net and Handle. Retracts and folds enough to fit in backpack. Good purchase for catfish, bass, and anything in lower size ranges. Prob not recommended for Musky, Pike or larger sized fish.
aaa1 : Useless
Terribly cheap plastic connections on the net arrived broken. Don't waste your time.
DnR Wines : Not good for treble hooks
It was supposed to come with rubber coated mesh to prevent hook hang ups, it was instead a cotton mesh that fouled the hooks. Did not like it at all.
Amazon Customer : Its supposed to extend 91 inches. It only extends 48.
Ed Stamey : Flimsy. Not for a large fish!
This net is definitely not for a larger fish as the locking head is all plastic and would probably break off. The handle itself is only 29 inches to the bottom of the net. The handle is made like a fishing rod and is round and tapers down from 3/4 in. to about 1/2 in in diameter at the locking mechanism. Probably would be fine for a trout net or other lightweight fishing.
rspcharger : Poor telescope feature
The locking mechanism for the telescope is plastic super glued to the fiber glass shaft, which adheres like crap. Mine broke on its 2nd use. I've ended up gluing it to a level that it is no longer collapsable.
MIKE : Broke while Bass fishing !!!
This net broke in half the day after the return policy ended..........scooped up 6 fish total, all about 2 lb bass.......pole broke in half......would not recommend !!!!
Kathaleen Bauer : This net does not work as advertised
The easy, one hand open feature does not work. This was disappointing gift for my husband.
Andrea : Broke within 2 uses
I bought this and have only used it 2 times and it has broken. Highly dissatisfied
Oceanus : Butterfly Net?
Item did not include grabber. Plastic seems to be of poor quality. Haven't used it yet..doesn't feel very durable...not expecting it to last. Maybe ok for catching butterflies..
Phil : Is what it is
Cheap and short
Paul vang : Good
Good
RRR : Perfect for big trout
Easy to pack and carry. Handles bigger trout and net does not foul up. Love this net hope it lasts.
Eddy EGA : FISHING NET USED TO CATCH TOADS
The item was well described and received as so.
KEVIN MUNDAY : The netting is Not like regular fishing net material
I like the design. The ability to collapse is desirable. The light weight is also great. I do question the longevity if the type of netting in salt water. We shall see.
Janer : Flimsy
Very flimsy, net lock slides
Eddy EGA : FISHING NET USED TO CATCH TOADS
The item was well described and received as so.
aaa1 : Useless
Terribly cheap plastic connections on the net arrived broken. Don't waste your time.
LordChumley : Very well built, easy to use.
Very well built, quality product, easy to use.
Amazon Customer : Great product
Perfect for trout fishing! We weren’t sure how this would work with the small little treble hooks but it was great! The price is right too!
India : Good quality
Actually floats solid fishing net
Carrie Welch : Great for fishing!
Very sturdy! Easy to fold and unfold.
Sam : Well made and sturdy
Heavy duty net and Handle. Retracts and folds enough to fit in backpack. Good purchase for catfish, bass, and anything in lower size ranges. Prob not recommended for Musky, Pike or larger sized fish.
rod : GOOD DEAL
Not bad for the price. Would give 5 stars if the whole thing had been made of aluminum. Haven't used it yet so not sure how the plastic folding latch will hold up. T he net opening latch isn't very smooth and the extension locks need 2 hands to ensure tightness, sometimes the pole continues to rotate. The netting is a rubberized small mesh which will prevent fish damage and keep hooks from snagging on the netting. It's a nice length, collapsed or extended. Just wish it came with a case or cover.
HYW : A robust extendable landing net
I recently found an excellent fishing spot under a small bridge, where there are abundant crappies. However, the area is covered with water and rocks, making it a bit difficult to land the crappies. In fact, I have lost quite a number of cappies during several fishing trips, which was very frustrating and prompted me to purchase a landing net. I chose this net (the longest form) because of its length (~100 inches when fully extended) and depth (~17 inches). I have used the net during a couple of fishing trips and am very pleased. The net is very robust, and it is actually already long enough without full extended, but being able to extend to 100 inches is certainly a good option. I have not lost single crappie after using this landing net. Needless to say, I am very happy with the purchase.
DnR Wines : Not good for treble hooks
It was supposed to come with rubber coated mesh to prevent hook hang ups, it was instead a cotton mesh that fouled the hooks. Did not like it at all.
ddguy : Pretty strong pole, nice rubberized net
I use this to collect debris from my pond. I routinely use it to handle about 10 pounds of material. At full extension, I bring the net to me in the water and then point the pole vertically when it is close. Managing the netted material this way is very nice, regardless of how heavy it is. The telescoping is fairly easy to extend/contract. Overall, for the price I paid, I can't ask for more from a net.
Lee Brown : Large net
Nice big net. Seems to be sturdy.
Oceanus : Butterfly Net?
Item did not include grabber. Plastic seems to be of poor quality. Haven't used it yet..doesn't feel very durable...not expecting it to last. Maybe ok for catching butterflies..
Janine : Wasn't what expected..
It wasn't what I thought it was it does not extend as fast as the ad said it does
aaa1 : Useless
Terribly cheap plastic connections on the net arrived broken. Don't waste your time.
K. Celata : Works for the Cat
I'm disabled & can't chase the darn cat who badly needs treatment in her ear. If you try to buy a net labelled for catching cats, etc you're going to pay over $150 even if it's the very same product. This one is great. It's strong, rubber mesh which decreases claws entangling. The handle is sturdy and adjustable. It's just big enough for my cat, who is a smidge smaller than average. My nephew who is a devoted fisherman says this is a great net for fishing as well.
Jason Polk : Not as advertised. Junk
What a piece of junk. Not even as close to as advertised!!! Don’t waste your money like I did. You can get better quality at Walmart. That says it all!!
Ryan Smith : Great foldable net!
Great design and sturdy net. I love it!
MIKE : Broke while Bass fishing !!!
This net broke in half the day after the return policy ended..........scooped up 6 fish total, all about 2 lb bass.......pole broke in half......would not recommend !!!!
chb2003 : Good net
Like the way it is collapsable.
Rachel : Flimsy
So im revising my review, this net buckled under my second fish I attempted to net. lost my fish, and ruined my day.
Amazon Customer : Aquarium fish
Love the rubber coating. Kinda hard to collapse. Big enough for most common aquarium fish in a pet store. Makes my 8 inch gold fish look small. It made it super easy to catch and handle bc of the depth of the net.
K R : Good net!
Folds to a compact size, lightweight and string enough for my needs.
