Answer: Yup.
Q:
whats the difference between this one and the other chefman for 89 dollars on amazon?
Answer: This is better
Q:
How are veggie chips (zucchini, beet, carrots, sweet potatoes)?
Answer: I use mine for dehydrating bananas and strawberries mostly. The time in the booklet will get the fruit dry, but I like to add an additional 30 minutes so that the fruit is really crunchy -like a potato chip. I've made sweet potato chips for my dog also and she loves them from the dehydrator. I also suggest that you use a mandolin for cutting any fruit or vegetables so they are the same thickness when on the tray. That is the most important factor in using the dehydrator.
Answer: I have done carrots and celery with this machine as well as jerky. I was completely satisfied. Just used the enclosed booklet to guide you on time and temperature then just set it and forget it!
Answer: Great, I love my dehydrator.
Q:
What are the preset temperture increments.
Answer: 30 min.
Answer: 30 min.
Q:
Can food duch as chilly beans be dehydrated. Would it required special containers?

Answer: Yes you can buy dried kidney beans in bags and store them in airtight containers
Q:
Could you please tell me the box or package dimensions?
Answer: Product Dimensions 13.6 x 17.5 x 12.4 inches
Answer: It's not real big .. will fit on any counter top nicely . Roughly the size of a microwave
Q:
Is it safe to deydrate chicken at only 158?
Answer: I've done it multiple times, but I do put it in the oven at 250 degrees for a few minutes to "finish" it.
Q:
Hi!, Excuse me, can you send to Mexico for free shipping too?
Answer: Hello, if you buy it from me, then yes I can send free shipping to Mexico.
Q:
Where is it made ?
Answer: Sorry I threw the box away, but I can say if you like to dehydrate beef jerky, I would get the nine rack, because I found out that six racks aren't enough space. Also stick with the square shaped machines verses the round ones. It is much easier to dry on the square racks compared to the round discs. Sorry again. I tried looking at the manual, with no results. Hope this helps.
Answer: made in china
Q:
What are the trays made out of?
Answer: The Chefman Digital Food Dehydrator's trays are made of BPA free plastic.
Answer: metal
Answer: Hard plastic with holes
Answer: reasonably durable plastic
Answer: Clear plastic
Answer: Plastic
Q:
The trays list as 13" x 12", but what is the internal height of the Dehydrator?
Answer: Just measured and mine is 9.25 in. high inside.
Q:
Does drying fruits and veggies diminish the vitamins in any way?
Answer: Every food loses some of it's value when you cook it. This is essentially cooking it at a low temp. It retains more then high heat cooking. Hope that helps!
Q:
Are the trays dishwasher safe ?
Answer: So far they have survived the industrial dishwasher at the restaurant, based on the material though I feel they will begin to warp eventually.
Q:
How many cookies will this fit? I’m looking for one to hold 2 dozen 3.5-4 inch cookies
Answer: It has 5 trays. It holds a lot. I dehydrate chicken for my pups and it works great!
Answer: Yes, you can put them close and with the all the racks in, it works great!
Answer: It has alot of trays so I think you'll have room
Q:
What temp and how long did the small cherry tomatoes take? It’s my first batch I’m confused on the temp range and time. Thank you
Answer: Use the same setting that you would for strawberries. The juicier the food, the longer they take. Hope this helps!
Q:
Can you dry nuts with this dehydrator?
Answer: Haven’t tried. Have Mae fruit roll ups and dried lots of fruits.
Q:
How energy-efficient is it?
Answer: Pretty efficient.
Answer: Unless you plan on running it 24/7, I would not think you would notice a difference in your electric bill.
Product reviews of Chefman Food Dehydrator Machine, Touch Screen Electric Multi-Tier Preserver, Meat or Beef Jerky Maker, Fruit Leather, Vegetable Dryer w/ 6 Slide Out Drying Rack Trays & Transparent Door, Black
Anony Mouse : Need to experiment with time and temperature
Have been using this for a few weeks to make dried sweet potato dog treats. (Hopefully this will save me enough $$$ to pay for the dehydrator!) Have had to do some experimenting to get the proper texture. I like that the dehydrator shuts off after the time is up. I highly recommend this. The one thing that could have been done better was to provide more comprehensive instructions for the length of time and temperature recommended for various items.
Kermittreefrog : Clean up couldn't be easier
I absolutely LOVE this machine!!! I plan on buying a 2nd one for next years harvest so I can do twice as much. My fruit chips came out crisp and stay that way if stored in glass jars. Fruit roll ups are a breeze. It has made preserving a much easier process. And the kids now have a large supply of healthy snacks to last the whole winter. My favorite thing about this machine? Clean up couldn't be easier. I hate the time it takes to take things apart and mess with things that can't go in the dishwasher, but I just soak the trays a little while in the sink with dish soap and a little bit of vinegar to sanitize them safely, and I give them a light scrubbing and rinse and they are ready to to again. I have even used parchment paper and cling wrap and have been able to avoid in between cleanups as well. As a mom of 4, my time is important and this takes no time at all.
Karen S. : Poor quality
Dehydrator fan broke after one use
Potato Joe : Not Happy
I’ve done everything the instructions say and just keep wasting food in it. Am going to try jerky in it and if that don’t work I’m done with it
Lauren O : Slowest Dehydrator
I bought this for the great reviews. I’ve been using it almost non-stop for days. I realize each food will vary with time and temp; but using their guide in the instructions does not produce dehydrated food. I have fresh from my garden basil. It suggests herbs go in for 100-115 degrees for 4-6 hours. I did that twice. Now I put it in for 10 more hours- total of 18 hours so far, all at 115 degrees. You’ll see from the photo that the basil is still damp and no where near storage ready. I have had the same experience making diced hot pepper and sage. Very disappointing.
J. : I felt misled.
This product does not heat up past 158°
in order to make jerky safely it has to at least be at 160.
I don’t feel like this should be sold with the intentions that jerky is safely made in this machine, this machine came with an instruction book that clearly stated that jerky that is made with beef is to be heated up at 160° and pork 165°
Buying this Machine stating that it makes jerky gives people a false impression that this machine can be safely used to dehydrate jerky.
So I wasted a large amount of meat and marination and put it on the trays to only find out that the machine heated up to 158° and not until I read the manual did I find out that it only went to 158 . I thought that I was doing something wrong with the buttons But now after reading found out that I would have to prepare it differently before putting it in the machine. What a waste of my time.
And for this amount of money you should be able to just make jerky in it without having to start the jerky process in the oven in order to make the meat Safe first, that is just way too much work. I am returning this machine and purchasing one that is a little bit more expensive and that heats up to 172.
SVM : This is a wonder Dehydrater
I don't have much counter space so this size was perfect for my kitchen. I've made tons of beef jerky and fruit. It's amazing.
Amazon Customer : ... and I've made 3 batches deer jerky it was perfect! No hot spots all dried even an fast ...
I got my dehydrator 1 week ago and I've made 3 batches deer jerky it was perfect! No hot spots all dried even an fast 4.5 - 5.5 hrs depending on thickness, 5 stars as far as that goes. Longevity!!?? Only time wiil tell....
Viking22 : First time dehydrator and very happy with results.
This is my first Food Dehydrator and I am very happy with the purchase. I've been dehydrating fruits and vegetables almost every day since receiving it and it works very well. Still experimenting with the best settings for each fruit/vegetable (i.e. thickness, size, type, time, temperature), but the internet has ample information on best ways to dehydrate food. It is very easy to clean and very simple to operate. The fan is actually pretty quiet too!
Having a good time and my family is eating tons more fruits and vegetables than usual, so win/win all around.
Kimberly : Nice product
I love this dehydrate r. My husband and, I have have used this a couple of times to dehydrate food. Works well. The only complaint is it takes so long. Of course that is what a dehydrated does. So no complaints on how producr works. Easy to figure out how to use. Yes I would buy this again.
Kermittreefrog : Clean up couldn't be easier
I absolutely LOVE this machine!!! I plan on buying a 2nd one for next years harvest so I can do twice as much. My fruit chips came out crisp and stay that way if stored in glass jars.
GPisaPlenty : Not as sturdy as it appears
First off, the entire thing is mainly plastic. The door is held together with a magnet and was off-center when I pulled it out of the box. Not overly thrilled with this but I guess it's ok for a beginner level dehydrator..
Cincy : Great for drying royal icing!!
I love this! I use it to dry royal icing on my cookies and it works great! 30 minutes at 95F and they are ready to go!
Jules : 6 shelves are perfect amount of space
I bought this item to make chicken jerky for my diabetic dog. I use it a few times a month and it works great - the six shelves are the perfect amount to make enough jerky for him for 2 weeks. My dog absolutely loves his chicken jerky! My boyfriend has also used it to make dried fruit and beef jerky.
Heather McGee : Hopefully I use it enough
Very light product. A bit bulky but worth it
Greene1 : Doesn’t work ;(
I’ve had basil in this machine for FOUR DAYS! 105 degrees should have been at max 16 hours, but this took seriously forever Boxing it up this evening to send it back It’s unfortunate because I do like that it was compact and fit exactly in the spot I needed it to
Deborah Deveroux : Great Dehydrator
This is a great machine, making great “jerky”, “banana chips” , “dehydrated mushrooms” “Pineapple” and “apple chips.” Well worth the price
Bobby : temperture seems to be low but I have not checked it with a thermometer yet
great dehydrator much easier to use than the round stacking tray dehydrator that I have always used, from top to bottom everything seems to get done at the same time, and love the timer so that it goes off on its own.
Periwinkle : Excellent dehydrator, great value!
This dehydrator met all of my expectations and more. I dried frozen, organic produce (we lose power often enough to make this valuable. 4 lbs of frozen peas fit into a quart jar!) it stores easily, so easy to clean. I bought the tray liners for drying chopped celery which slips through the tray grids easily.
GPisaPlenty : Not as sturdy as it appears
First off, the entire thing is mainly plastic. The door is held together with a magnet and was off-center when I pulled it out of the box. Not overly thrilled with this but I guess it's ok for a beginner level dehydrator..
Diane E. Jezewski : Perfect beef jerky
I was able to pick this up this summer when Amazon was having a flash sale. I finally got to use it today. I had purchased a boubon marinated tenderloin from a food chain. I used my weston jerky slicer to make jerky. I simply laid the mear on trays and set at 150 degress for 5 hours. This by far was the best Jerky I have ever made or ever had. The fan in this machine circulates air so there is no turning. They came out absolutely perfect. I am anxious to try venison jerky as well as fresh fruits and vegies when in season.
Goldfinger : Compact easy to use and clean
Just arrived. Marinated 5-6 lbs thin cut sirloin 2 days prior. Works great. Not as fast as an oven due to max high temp of 158F. But much easier than using oven and i placed unit outside to reduce heat within home. Very quiet fan. About 8-9 hours for all. Trays cleanup quick soaked in hot soapy dish water and brush. All n all a worthwhile purchase
James P. Moran : Cheap
The cheap plastic trays melted, I washed them and had them next to the stove where all my dishes dry. Plastic cups from the dollar tree dont melt there I'm returning it because if trays are that cheap not worth it.
Heather McGee : Hopefully I use it enough
Very light product. A bit bulky but worth it
P : Works great
The dehydrator works and I like the inclusion of what temperatures and time for what foods. My only gripe is the door. The door sags a bit and you need to either push harder when you close it or lift it up a bit when you close it.
Amazonshopper : My Access Code is Invalid and the temp only goes to 158
So I bought this to make jerky and because you can go to clubcheman.com but the access code on my booklet is invalid and there is no help on the site. You have to pre bake the meat to get above 160 for safety then dehydrate.
gloria : Excellent Product - just as described
Drying time seems to take longer than specified, but I would think it is dependent on users preference of crispness.
Have dried lots of apples. Easy to use. Works just as advertised.
M and N : Just got it, but i love it!
I recently got this machine. I've been experimenting with it. The book really helps because it gives you a guideline as to how long to put in each item. Remember, it's just a guideline so you might need to put it in longer. I can't wait to try it out with mangoes. We also looked up beef jerky recipes. A lot of sites say that you need an additional step like putting it in the oven to kill additional bacteria for the beef jerky, so please make sure you do your research. However some people say they just use the machine. Never tried it. I got this machine during the covid-19 so that I can preserve food. Loving it so far! I have used it on apples, tomatoes and herbs!
Bargain Bounty Hunter : Why 160F in pics when max is 158 F??
My only complaint is that the images show it going to 160 F twice but the max temperature it reaches is 158. Not much of a big deal but still bothers me that they can’t be 100% honest with their marketing
James P. Moran : Cheap
The cheap plastic trays melted, I washed them and had them next to the stove where all my dishes dry. Plastic cups from the dollar tree dont melt there I'm returning it because if trays are that cheap not worth it.
LYNN : Great for drying royal icing on sugar cookies
I used these to dry layers of royal icing on sugar cookies. I purchased the iced cookies in at the lowest temp (95F) for 5-15 mins and could easily decorate the next layer. I still let the cookies dry on a try overnight to make sure the icing is completey dry and solid. This is a huge time saver! Now I don't have to wait hours between layers of icing. Super easy to use, I love that the door opens out, the trays have a lip so stuff doesn't slide off, and there is a drip tray! It does beep once when you start and stop it (which scares my overly anxious dog) but I just unplug it to turn it off and avoid the beep.
Theresa Vo : Super Quiet, Super Quick
I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this dehydrator works. It was super quiet. I set it up according to the provided instruction to dry some herbs. And when it's done, the herbs came out nice and dry and still retained its vibrant green sheen. Very happy!
Bargain Bounty Hunter : Why 160F in pics when max is 158 F??
My only complaint is that the images show it going to 160 F twice but the max temperature it reaches is 158. Not much of a big deal but still bothers me that they can’t be 100% honest with their marketing
Heather McGee : Hopefully I use it enough
Very light product. A bit bulky but worth it
Amazon Customer : Highly recommended
After previously leaving a 1 start review as I recieved a broken unit, I can now say I am completely satisfied and happy with my purchase. Amazon and Chefman were beyond amazing in getting me a new unit out ASAP. Today was my first attempt to use it and I have 2 very grateful puppies on my hands now (I made them sweet potatoe chews) I would highly recommend this dehydrator!!! Thank you amazon and chefman ????

I waited till I used this a lot before I rated it.. WORKS GREAT , Very happy ... beef jerky ready in 10 hours... I use London broil about 1/8 in thick has timer and heat setting. Top Notch Unit ... easy to clean. Trays are dishwasher safe
Cowboyred : WORKS OK
WORKS OK BUT HAVE TO TRIPLE CHECK DOOR TO BE SURE ITS LATCHED and drying times seem to take longer than the manual says!!
Christina : Excellent product thus far!
We used this for the 1st time last night to dehydrate fruit. Super easy to use, soooo very quiet, quick. I'm hoping it's life span is a long one!
One suggestion: I remember reading in the booklet to spray the trays, I forgot and did not... Our apples and pineapple did not stick, but the strawberries, mango and bananas did.
So far, 5 stars from me!
Oksana : A little noisy
Great dryer. The fans on the louder side and in the summer time when we turn it for the night it will keep our house warm and will keep temp in low 70s in the Pacific northwest where nights hit low 50s. If it's not on our house usually will cool down during the night to mid 60s. Otherwise, works great on fruits and meat. It will beep loud when done.
anthony Price : Easy to use
First run of jerky was easy!
Nizel A. : A solid buy for those beginning their dehydrating journey
I decided to start making my own jerky and a dehydrator sounded like a good idea. This one is kinda cheap and has a decent amount of settings. Having a digital timer and temperature setting is fantastic! You just set it and forget it. I do find that I have to leave the jerky in a little bit longer than it should because the door seems like it is cheaply made, resulting in some heat loss. It has a drip tray at the bottom which works out well considering the tray design. Clean up is a breeze, everything is plastic so nothing sticks, you just wipe it down and you're good to go!
Katie Lawson : Great for Dehydrating fruits for snack or tea.
I love drinking fruit tea. It’s great for your skin and body. It’s changet really expensive buying any different type of dried fruit to make your own tea. My friend suggested chefman food dehydrator machine to me. I absolutely loved it. It’s takes some time dehydrated the fruit but it’s totally worth it.
Akemi D. Harvell : Just what I wanted!
I bought a second one for a family member who has a garden. So far, I used it for onions, hot peppers, fruits and turkey bacon. Great for persimmon season! A great way to not waste food and prepare healthy snacks.
Amazon Customer : Fast dehydrating time and easy to use!! Love it.
This dehydrator is Amazing!!! Easy to move being so light. Made beef jerky with it done in 4 hours. Also made dried fruit. Love the fact it turns off when done. I'm busy chasing kids around and dont have time to check it. The only downside it the door make sure it is closed all the way. It kinda catches on the side. Love the window you can see clear thru. So you dont have to open like the round ones.
Mary Jane Tenerife : Highly recommended. Very satisfied customer here.
I am very happy with this item. Made my very first beef jerky for my family and chicken jerky for the pets and everyone are happy. Very easy to use the automatic on/off timer is an amazing feature. Very quiet. The outer looks is even very nice. I highly recommended this product. Very easy to clean and first timer friendly ????
Scott Johnson : Using this as a 3D filament dryer.
I use this to dry out 3D filament so it prints better. There is no food use for me so cleaning is a non-issue. It's very easy to use. Just throw the rolls in and set the temp and timer. There is a bit of fan noise but it's not obnoxiously loud. Just loud enough to be noticeable.
