Product reviews of Whopper Plopper, Size 90, 13 - Munky Butt Color, 4.75 x 2 x 1 inches
GearGirl : It's Irresistible!
Purchased late in the season, but caught a decent size Northern Pike, 15 minutes after switching to this and have had a number of bites. I am also going to purchase a larger size. Can't wait to catch some bass with this, next Spring!
Gregory George Plutko : Tends to roll and lose track
I like the Whopper Ploppers in the larger sizes, but with the 90s, they don't run right. They roll easily and twist line and more often than not - do not actually 'plop' after encountering any floating weeds. I throw bigger Ploppers, but tend to prefer Berkley Choppos in the smaller sizes.
Tony : BIG BASS LOVE THIS
This little guy is a hit!! You will catch some big bass on this! Do not think twice BUY
Martha Beas Leal : Bad Design. It will twist and mess up you line!
There's a critical flaw in the whopper plopper design. Under certain circumstances, the body will spin instead of the tail, twisting you line. After just a few casts, I lost my very expensive, brand new lure because of this. The whopper plopper should come standard with a barrel swivel at the front to avoid this issue.
BOATS : Bass Slayer
Definitely strikes in big bass! My other Whopper Floppers get more, the monkey butt gets big ones!
Michael Burge : Awesome action and gurgle sound
Great action on sound. I'm sure they'd get hit hard on curiosity or territory strike if I hadn't snagged it on a tree on 3rd cast. $12 down the tubes.
Shanon E. : It's a beauty.
Sweet action. Sadly were still catching more River bass on camo worms than with top water lures in AZ. But we know the time is near for this lure early one morning or late at night!

Twitchell, PhD Voc Ed : No better than a Jitterbug and way more expensive
This lure works well wherever you would use a Jitterbug. I tried out the Whopper Plopper and had good luck but something kept nagging in the back of my head. Finally I realized what it was. I have been fishing Jitterbugs from Maine to LA (lower Alabama) for over 50 years. The light bulb came on; the sound is the same and they are both topwater lures. I fished them against each other and found no difference in catch ratio. What's old is new again. There is nothing wrong with a Whopper Plopper but the price. I would give a Jitterbug 4 stars because it is less expensive. I wouldn't give either one 5 stars because there are many bass lures that work as good or better and work in a wider range of conditions. I still use both lures for the thrill of a fish hitting a topwater lure and these are some of the best.
JSully : Awesome bait
I always see these sold out in stores. Now I know why. Within the first 15-20 cast had two bass between 1-2lbs gobble it right up
Will L. : Whopper of a plopper TOP WATER ACTION
Whopper plopper is amazing little bait. We picked the size 90 cause we fish small creeks for smallmouth. Love the black and yellow perch for mirky to clear creeks. The bait throws of some great action the bass just can’t pass on. We caught several that day and noticed a steady retrieving was the key. The lure is little pricey but there is something about this bait!
Looking for some nice top water action grab one and have some fun
Jonathan Hunter : Great product
Great lure... catches fish. Just way over priced. Glad to see berkley is coming out with their cheaper version.
Shawn M : All I can say is “WOW”
If your looking to catch a large number of quality largemouth bass then you definitely want to add this lure to your tackle box. My first 4 cast with this lure produced 4 bass landed. I use a Palomar knot with 50 lb. braided line. Buy it you won’t regret it.

Massey : It works
I use this to cover water fast. I have been finding bass where I have never got a bite before. Great lure
David Pothier : Great product to add to your tackle box
Item is exactly what I was expecting. Perfect. Fast shipping. Oh and it’s a fantastic lure as well! Just remember, it’s just a lure...not the “guaranteed a fish every time charm”
Todd Gately : Mint
Love whopper ploppers. Can’t wait for the weather to warm back up and get back to that sunset top water action
Christopher Gibson : Look for the newer version
It’s the old version. These are good baits but it’s on me for not paying attention when ordering. The newer version doesn’t gets weeds hung in it as bad when the tail rotates.
121 : Never let's me down
2 words WHOPPER PLOPPER. I was hesitant to buy this thing for 2 years. Now I own half a dozen. I caught bass the first 5 fishing trips and never leave the house without one now.
Onemanwo1fpackz : Love the munky butt
The munky butt whopper plopper 90 is the best top water, I've had awesome luck with it this season. Its one of my favorites
Mr. Crunchy : Good
The good: these catch fish. Drives bass crazy.
The bad: line twist and getting the perfect speed so its just plopping and the whole lure’s not turning os difficult.
The ugly: expensive, so you’re hesitant to cast near trees or cover. Hurts to lose a $13 lure....
Bubbax300 : Excellent action
I use this on a calm lake with very clear water. The action is excellent and the hooks are very sharp. Seems to be fairly irresistible to a lot of fish, including bass, striped bass, pike, and even a sunfish that was half the size of the lure!
Monty Batchelor : Looks Great
Looks great in the water. Have not caught anything with it yet, but confident that I will.
melissa : Top water slayer!!!
Gave this to my husband and it’s his favorite top water lure! He slays the slobs! I had to get him a few more of this color. After so many pike attacks, they start to take on water.
missMoTX : Whopper Ploppers Catch Bass everytime
Bass catching beast... until my hubs lobbed it into a tree and lost it. Need to order another ASAP.
Brian Harris : Top Water King
Whopper Ploppers are the king of top water fishing. The movement, water displacement and vibrations are what make this lure on of the best top waters of all time. 1000% recommend this in anyone’s tackle gear.
LarryN : Bass smash this lure
The only problem is when you get too excited and don't let the bass take the lure. This things works!
Gerry : GRET LURE
I was a bass fishing guide over eight years at a very happy place. I also fished tournaments for over 40 years. I had some friends say they hated this lure so I did not use when it first came out. One day I just decided to buy this. I fished with it a couple of times in Central Florida in my retention ponds where I live. Each time I bought over six nice bass in an hour just before dusk. I made fun of my friends that did not like this and use it frequently now. There is nothing like catching a bass on a topwater! I use bone colored but I am sure other colors would work also.
Mark M. : Everything I read it would be.....
Got this Loon 90 and snuck out at lunch to give it a go in some unfamiliar waters. First cast - almost immediately got huge bite actually startled me, I took to long to set and retrieve, lost him. Second cast found plopper speed got half way in, paused then started really fast retrieve to recast. decent fish broke water just as i started screamin it in. 3rd cast to much adrenaline at this point cast across to other bank into fallen tree branches. Cut line snag. Today - ordered 2 more. Stand by for follow up.......
Kaebe : Good stuff!
Fast shipping! Came one day early. I took it out to the river and pond and was getting good catches. A little harder at the river but the pond was biting like crazy! Hopefully it holds up. I bought some knock offs too and this one spins a lot better, plus it has a rattle inside to make the bass go crazy for it!
Dillion Whitby : Great lure
This product works amazing. The hooks are sharp and hang on to the fish very well. Really the only problem I had was when a big fish hits it hard enough the wire in the tail will bend causing it not to "plop" right in the water. It's a simple fix by just bending it back and it works again. Overall an amazing lure.
Richard Wilson : GREAT LURE
I've caught many bass on these from ones smaller than the lure up to 3lb. They can't resist these early in the morning.
Jonathan Hunter : Great product
Great lure... catches fish. Just way over priced. Glad to see berkley is coming out with their cheaper version.
Bob Piano : Best T.W
Best topwater bait that I''ve ever used..
Twitchell, PhD Voc Ed : No better than a Jitterbug and way more expensive

Picture is my son. : Best topwater lure I've used in 54 years!
I've never had much luck with topwater lures but this one is amazing! Caught 40 Bass with it in 5 hours! (Bone color).
Michael Burge : Awesome action and gurgle sound
Great action on sound. I'm sure they'd get hit hard on curiosity or territory strike if I hadn't snagged it on a tree on 3rd cast. $12 down the tubes.
kayaker : Catches a lot of fish
This bait in bone color, and 90 size, is on one of my rods every early morning. I have caught plenty of bass on it, and bream hit it often too. I also use the 110 size on my heavier rod. Most bites come on a slow retrieve with a quick turn of the handle every 3-4 feet. I have had to replace a few rings that the treble hooks attach with, as they tend to stretch out. And finally, we call this bait Mr. Sticky, because I have embedded one or more of these very sharp hooks in my hand twice.
KCM : Great bait, wish I had bought one sooner.
Great lure! Like any other lure, if they don't want it, they don't want it. But when they do.....they're aggressive!
Small enough to catch a range of fish, heavy enough to get serious casting distance from the bank if your bound to shore.
Derek Stephens : Bass Slayer
I used this for the first time over the weekend and I was not disappointed. I used it really early in the morning at a local pond and I slayed the bass on it. Very little is more exciting than seeing the bass come flying up and whack this thing. I would recommend putting a swivel on the end of it if you don't use braided line because grass can stop the tail from turning and caused the whole lure to spin.
Noah Sikes : Add this to your tackle box you GOOBER!
This will catch anything you want just by how aggressive it sounds on the top water. It was more surprising not pulling in fish with every cast I made. Small ponds and river banks is where this color will be most successful. I’ve easily hit double digits on my first time out and I’m already heading for triple with the same one. Paint has started to get scratched up but what can you expect from catching bass all day. Don’t keep reading my review go buy it!
michael thomas : Amazing lure
Went fishing in the BWCA in Minnesota last June and this was by far the best bass lure. it is for sure a got-to if you want to catch bass.
Christopher Gibson : Look for the newer version
It’s the old version. These are good baits but it’s on me for not paying attention when ordering. The newer version doesn’t gets weeds hung in it as bad when the tail rotates.
Jeremy M Silvey : Happy Customer!!!
Fast service and great lure, bass love it. A++++
Timothy J : Caught 5 L/M bass in two houts
I bought this lure after watching a you-tube video of a guy who recommended a bone, black, and ghost whopper-plopper. I used the bone one above and caught the largest bass I have ever caught. It was humungus.
Shanon E. : It's a beauty.
Sweet action. Sadly were still catching more River bass on camo worms than with top water lures in AZ. But we know the time is near for this lure early one morning or late at night!
Michael Burge : Awesome action and gurgle sound

Amazon Customer : It whops and plops.
This lure sure is hard to find when you launch it into the trees.
Onemanwo1fpackz : Love the munky butt
The munky butt whopper plopper 90 is the best top water, I've had awesome luck with it this season. Its one of my favorites
C. E. Martin : Great for big bass
Works better than I dreamed on the smallmouths in a local creek. Used to catching some, but has tripled the number of bites and attracts big fish. Highly recommended. Pictured is a 17 1/2", 3 lb-ish smallmouth.
