The Fishbites 0083 E-Z Shrimp Saltwater Long Lasting Bait can be used on a bare hook or as a trailer on a jig or skirt and each bait strip is 1/2 inch wide and 12 inches long. They can be used to catch a whole host of saltwater species. The lures are made of biodegradable hydrogel plastic making them environmentally safe. Just cut it, hook it and cast it. How EZ is that? 2 bait strips per bag. Fishbites are the result of a lifelong passion for fishing and decades of scientific research. How long do they last on the hook before they degrade from the water?

Answer: My hubby says he left them in the brackish water off our dock and they lasted about 2 hours. They were secured on a pole.

Answer: In salt water for 3 or more hours

Answer: they last a good while, I would buy again

Can this be used to catch freshwater rainbow trout?

Answer: I use them for salt water fish. I suspect they might work for trout as well, but I have not tried them.

Old fishbites in the old packaging. Not worth the money. Going back to Academy for now on.

Robert : I have been fishing in Florida for 50 years and these really work.

I wish I had started using them ten years ago. Finally tried them after a couple of YouTube people I follow recommended them.

I cut the strip into tiny pieces and used them on a bottom rig. The fish think it is food and they have a really hard time stealing the bait. So you don't have to re-bait nearly as often as you do with shrimp. Also if you keep them in your cooler you can take the leftovers home and use them next week.

I recommend cutting the pieces at home the night before you go fishing, you will need a decent pair of sissors.

I surf cast of a Florida beach and use Fishbites as a secondary bait. I put a cut strip on the hook fist and then put my real bait after it. That seems to work the best.
